Suggestion: What GGS Needs to do if They Want to Keep Players

Pingo42Pingo42 Posts: 537
There are a lot of unhappy players on the US1 server at this point - the people whose farms were messed up by the tractor update, and those of us whose farms were unaffected by the update but who have since lost all the work and time we put into our farms between the update and the rollback. So, GGS, if you want to keep players, here's what you can do:
  1. Extend the Island time by several days to make up for the time lost
  2. Lower the building times for several days as was done when the new GF was introduced, to compensate people for time spent doing upgrades.
  3. Compensate people for time spent doing missions by giving everyone 500 free certificates. It's not as much as a lot of people make in a day, but at least it would be some compensation for our time, and costs GGS nothing.
  4. All gold spent or purchased needs to be refunded, obviously.
  5. Give everyone a 200% gold offer along with some good prime deals.
  6. Post an apology. Own the problem. Let people know you're sincerely sorry for this mess.
  7. Give people ways to regain the lost XP points more quickly - double XP, XP for harvesting, etc.

The question is, GGS, do you care about keeping your good players? Because if you do nothing and wait for people to forget about all this, people will leave the game. You need to take steps to regain peoples' trust and goodwill. We're waiting.

Very well stated, Pingo! Many thanks for posting these great ideas. A show of goodwill and positive Customer Experience Management can go a long way toward fixing the damage done over the last two days.

I don't want to leave the game. I usually really enjoy it. But this roll-back took away a lot of progress. The game is all about progress and bettering our farms. Really sad to see it undone today.

I think you are right on the money Pingo. We need to be compensated or there is no reason to keep playing and I think everything you said if very fair.

I how you are listening GGS

Some good thoughts here, hope they aren't lost amongst the ruins of the forum. As for the days, though, they have said they extended the Island (34 days to start) in anticipation of some down time, so I doubt we'll get that. The 2x build speed and the 2x Exp for 24 hrs are great ideas that fit the 'crime' so to speak.

well i would count on any of these things happening,if you bought gold they already have your money and they don't give refunds.new players coming on will not know any of this even happened.this company isn't know for customer service.when the gaming awards come up they'll ask us to vote them number one like they did last year, so be sure to get your votes in

I worked really hard on my farm yesterday. Probably 8 hours worth of work. At the time, it didnt really bother me that I was putting so many hours in but now that everything I did yesterday has just vanished I realize that I sat here wasting my life away. An entire day of my life- that I cannot get back- completely wasted. I don't really care about the stuff I lost. Ever since the gourmet revamp, I vowed never to buy gold again so I haven't lost anything tangible. I could just rebuild it all if I wanted, but you know what? I don't want to now. So, thank you GGS for finally making me realize how much of an epic waste this game is. Even when I was spending money on this game, you didn't care about my opinion so I am certain you don't care about it now but I just want you to know that in comparison to other game developers, you are really horrible to your players.

Can bet they are reading the complaints. I posted one about the rollback and losing EVERYTHING with players responding to what they lost and Goodgames deleted my post. Good games, Did it make you feel better when you deleted my Post? Well, guess what... here I am again. Players would appreciate it if you kindly replace, or reimburse EVERYONE who lost EVERYTHING because of your negligence. If you do not find a way to do so, you will lose a many many players including those who regularly purchase gold and lost the gold they purchased, that they are still responsible to pay their creditor for. If you can not take criticism for the mistakes you make, then why have a forum? Or hide? Many people that lost EVERYTHING tried to contact support, just to find out the link was no longer available and their posts were also deleted. Do the right thing and refund players for what they lost and get some professionals on your staff that can do maintenance without causing others to lose all their hard work on this game. This is not the first time players have had to pay for your mistakes, but it should be THE LAST!

Many well-stated opinions here, and Fro3's might be the best. I'm one of those who has invested considerable money into this game. Do you really want to lose me, and those who've help pay for this game like me, GGS? This move of yours is probably the most pathetic I've seen in the time I've been playing, and I've seen quite a few lame things here. There are basic programming principles that you folks simply ignore. You love rushing out the innovations, particularly those geared towards getting people to buy gold, and continually fail to sufficiently test them first. Stop being so ignorant! The additional time invested in proper testing on a realistic platform will be more than paid for by customer satisfaction. If you think you're immune to a crash and burn by driving off all of your PAYING customers, you better take a serious look again at economics 101. Many MANY companies have gone before you, in brick-and-mortar as well as on the web.

As Fro3 stated above, you didn't just simply "reset" this game two days back. You made all the time we spent on this game in the past two days a total waste of our time. If you continue to think this a small thing, then you will inevitably end up shutting down because of stupid business practices.

. . . And furthermore, we just noted in our co-op, that while you rolled back our progress from our current project, you failed to roll back the time left to complete it. We've now wasted additional time and collectibles toward a project that we now cannot complete in time.

And one further problem, to you who are too lame and insecure to speak to us players yourselves, is you never communicate anything happening in the game to us IN THE GAME! We're playing your game, not spending every moment in here to find out what's happening. Provide detailed instructions for your wonderful new renovations, and timely notifications of server maintenance IN THE GAME. You obviously have the technology! You're able to pop up those wonderful windows telling us all we'll get when buying gold. Start using that to keep players informed of what's going on. I will stop buying gold and leave this game behind. Improve fast, or I'm gone.

Here is a better way to keep players that are so mad now they could exit this game quick and yes there are over 50% ready to do that ( someone got mad at me for saying that but it is true )..
    1. Instead of a lousy 50 gold for leveling up make it 500 gold on all levels
    2. Double the daily log in bonuses ( example 50 xp's make it 100 )
    3. Do completely away with this island head ache and just put the horse ranch active
    4. Get rid of that stupid airport and give us another strip of land
    5. Do away with the stupid garage/tractors period
    6. Put missions back the way they were when you could pick what one you wanted to do
    7. Put certs and rep points back the way they were also
    8. Make prime deals double what they are now but leave prices the way they are now ( you could even lower them)
    9. Cut the prices on a lot of stuff as well as the build time ( does not need to be that high or long )
    10. Respond to ALL players with a public announcement and take what you have coming to you as far as all the complaints and stop the " contact support and a ticket will be issued " bull

    11. This list needs to go on and on with people adding to it! ( please add to it all )

    12. I would say have a great day farming BUT ... tell me one thing about farming right now that is great... GGS you really took every single farm this time.. took us good.... hope you are happy.... we are not...

Thanks everyone for the responses, and to those who have sent me PMs in the game about this. I think most of us are really upset & angry - I know I sure am - but I would like it if we could keep this thread from turning into one more rant about how upset we are. The forum is full of such threads right now, and if you need to vent, please do it in one of those threads or start your own. I am hoping we can keep this thread for constructive suggestions for GGS as to what they can do to compensate players and perhaps regain some of the massive goodwill they've lost over the past few days. There is no way for GGS to turn back the clock in real life, and they can't undo what has already happened. But they can try to compensate us. Please feel free to add your constructive suggestions to my ideas posted above, and thank you in advance.

Nicely said Pingo in your first statement. And Mammas too, in your statement. An olive branch needs to be held out. :) I am very upset as I spent days following the "how to" get through the Island just to have it erased.....
    Happy Farming all!

I agree with Pingo and Mammas. its obvious BF does not really care about us players- our time and money. I agree with list to compensate all players real soon. not after weekend or when they feel like it. BF needs new programmers who know what they are doing. not happy at all!!!!! ;(
  • edited 26.09.2014
I would at least feel a bit better if GGS recognized how serious this is to the players and put some staff on to work overtime this weekend to sort out the mess. I don't look to see GGS giving back any of our money and they certainly cannot replace our time but a little empathy and at least a presence over the weekend would have garnered a little more goodwill. As it is now, I have zero trust in GGS and will not invest any more real cash in this game.

If I can add my 2 cents worth, I found a small way to compensate coops. In mine, we do projects 24/7, and are always in dire need of collectibles. We had just finished Strawbrain or Cabbage Head and had started Cheesed Off when they rolled back. Of course it has put us back to collecting wheat and cabbage again but unfortunately, as they did not reset the clock, we have almost no time to finish the project and probably will fail at it. Can't remember when was the last time our coop failed a project. How about giving a package of the various collectibles to the leader of each coop to make up for failed projects because of lack of resetting the clock? That would not compensate time and efforts put in, but at least we could restart it soon instead of waiting to collect all of these low-dropping collectibles again.

I agree with Pingo. It sounds like GGS didn't know how badly this would affect all the players, or they would have already come up with a plan to compensate us. I am hopeful that they are working on it and will be satisfied when they "fix" everything. I really feel for the players who spent so much time building things up and lost so much. It's very discouraging. But I hate to see so many bash GGS when we don't know yet what they're going to do about the problem. I would like to stay positive and look forward to being rewarded for patience.

I think this was really well thought out! Not a ridiculous far-fetched compensation, but very fair. And that 200% gold offer would make many happy, but still give GGS money since we'd be buying the gold. How can they say no to that one?!

I think I did read somewhere that they would have people working over the weekend to get the garage update/issue figured out, so that is good too.

My co-op was basically unharmed by the issues, but definitely took notice of the roll back. There was some major shock from members who don't typically come to the forums. They are very hesitant to play right now, or over the weekend, just in case something else happens. They don't want to lose it.

With the update not fully established on the US server. My guess is that they will wait until everything is good before compensating anyone. What good would it do to compensate people, if when they try to load it up on the server again, they have to roll back for some reason and have us all lose it? That would be even worse!!

Give them some time to get things figured out. I'm sure we'll hear something again soon! Wait to see what Monday brings, then look for some kind of something. For now, just got to take a deep breath...

Hi everybody, I just read all of your guys's comments about GGS. I know they really did mess up. I know how your guys feel so much. I felt pretty low and sad almost every year when GGS took off my favorite game of ( GoodGame Farmer ). I spent every night to think if we could take a vote to bring that game back on. And even my mom told me. Why did the GGS shut the game down. Is there any reason why did they do that or did they not making enough money to keep that game on. I went on ( melting -mindz games when I move down my mouse on the arrows. And guess WHAT I saw when I move it downwards WAS ( GoodGame Farmer ). And it really does exsist. If you guys really WANT to have that game back on AGAIN we need to let them know that we won't be nasty or mean or something. I think we need to take a vote o bring that game back on.Amy

Did you have a gold license mature during the time they rolled back? Everyone in my Co-op who has reported in, has said they got their spent gold back. If you are sure its an error, you should contact support.

I totally agree with all Pingo said, not fair at all to those that buy gold, that is stealing GGS and not something to be proud of! Please make this right for everyone so we can get back to being happy playing this game. Componsate us by lowering costs, building time, extra gold, certs, exps when given away. Surely this is something you guys can do to make everyone happy. We have all supported this game so now it's your turn to support us. I have lost alot of certs, building time, exps, money and items bc of this roll back so please fix this!

Great ideas Pingo. I would also suggest an in game message. There is a large majority of players that don't visit the forum and have no idea what happened and are extremely disappointed in the decision to roll back.

I am behind you and Bingo 100%. But, since when does GGS listen to their players. I stopped playing the Viking Farm and the Hawaiian Farm because the cost I find it prohibitive. Just because I like the game does not mean I am going to make them rich. It would be really refreshing to see them owning up to their mistakes and do something about it rather than give us a stupid excuse that'll never come to fruition.
