Making a word a link in a Forum Post

I often get PMs asking how to make a word into a link in a forum post. Instead of doing it fresh each time I am making this post

When answering a forum post it can be handy to give the questioner a link to help them or to refer to.

This can either be done by supplying the link like this

http://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/

Or as a word(s) Larino's Corner

It is often neater and tidier to use the word method

GGS have made it easy for us so you don't need to know any HTML (or know what HTML even means)

You do though need the URL (uniform resource locator) also known as the web address, of where the link needs to go. In the example below it is http://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/

And for Forum posts GGS provide us with the web address, the permalink, for every post. Right click the #number for the post you want and choose 'copy link address'

Once you have the URL/web address/permalink type the word you want to be the link in your post. Highlight and click the icon of a globe with a 2 chain link on it. Hover over it and it says 'link'

A dialogue box pops up. Paste your URL/web address/permalink into the box and enter. And you're done

The word that is a link becomes a browny sort of colour and I have found that not everyone realises it is a link. So I normally underline it too, but that is in no way a necessity. Larino deals with this problem by saying (click here)

Larino's Corner also has an excellent post called Finding your way around the forums which includes a different way of making these links
