Does the Isaland Oasis (if earned/purchased) disappear in 30 days too?
other than the sea shells earned and the sand castle rewards what can we keep from the island?
Comments
I read people discussing using shells for green house. will we retain earned shells from event to continue to use else where?
so much discussion in forum on island I find it hard to clear confusion.
Sandcastles are only for your main farms. They cannot be used on the island even. (I stand corrected on this because I said nothing you earn can be used on main farm, not realizing you also earn the sand castles. They are especially for the main farm.)
The shells will have the sole purpose of buying seeds for the greenhouse (and buying the island decorations for your main farms) that will provide tropical fruits to sell to captain barnacle who will give you horseshoes (among other things) to use on the horse ranch
Benny is the truck with the shell on its roof in The Market Place at the top of your screen
At the moment all you can trade for with him is decos for the permanent farm but soon you will also be trade with him for exotic seeds. These you will be able to grow in the not yet active greenhouse. Captain Barnacle (the Ship) will ask for theses exotic fruits. You will also get hoses shoes from the ship for the not yet released Paddock
If you click the airport to bring up the ring menu you will see a green at the top. Clicik that for a bit more information on the complete cycle
edit: sorry for doubling up -must have been typing same time as larino
and where do we use the shells? - from Benny, the trader currently in the Market Place at the top of the game screen. He has a van with a shell on top. He will come from time to time like the other traders. Soon you will be able to trade the shells for exotic seeds to grow in the greenhouse, but at the moment it is only decos
also will there be a day when Island farm is here to stay? - No
A link about what to do with the seeds and how to grow them and more is here: https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/2014/08/08/the-new-farm-environment/
I would really advise you to definitely read that second link. You will understand the place of the island farm in the bigger picture and you get some tips and tricks about the island that may help.
The decos you can buy with shells on your main farm are totally different from the decos on the island farm which are bought with island dollars.
So the point of the island is to get as many of those three things as you can in the time you have so you can hopefully get something good as a souvenir when the event is over. That's basically it.
The horseshoes are not available on the island farm and will never be available on the island farm. You get horseshoes from Captain Barnacle when you sell the tropical fruits that you grow in the greenhouses. These two elements are still up and coming. Please do not attach the horseshoes to the island again like this, only confuses more people
The decos you can buy on your main farm are replicas of the decos you can buy on the island farm. The part that is right is that you cannot cross use them (the shell bought decos cannot be used on the island and the dollar or gold bought decos cannot be used on your main farms.) However, they are still the same decos. The only way to get the island decos for your main farm is by buying them with the shells. They are in no other way obtainable for your main farms. If you are a collector, like me, you want to have them all for the deco tower. If you only want them for the happiness I doubt if that is a good idea because of the size of those things.
The sand castle decos, however, are only for your main farms and cannot be bought anywhere. You can win them, just like in the regularly appearing events, and they cannot be placed on your island farm. They stay after the island farm disappears because they belong to your main farms after you won them.
This is not entirely true Larino. They can also be purchased the same way other event decos can, through the main farm build menu.
Yes and what do you pay for them? Tadaaaaa, shells. So yes it was true, if I had said the only way to buy them for the main farm is in the truck with Benny then you would have been correct in correcting me ; )
Ooops, you're right. I didn't look closely enough.
You have been forgiven
Sometimes stuff is there for being pretty
Am I understanding this correctly that the event must be completed ( all three events) in order to own the horse ranch? What are the repercussions in the event the Island Farm event is not completed in the 30 days or even with a start over when it is presented again?
So save up shells to buy the island seeds to plant in the greenhouse to ship off on the boat to get you the horseshoes for the horse ranch so you can get some horsies!
Larino, please check that last paragraph for errors. I'm not positive the first part is entirely accurate.
The only thing you can gain by playing the island event is: shells. So, when the event finishes, everything will vanish, but your collected shells will stay in your inventory. Left over products and/or island dollars will be converted into shells, too. When the events comes back again, you can continue gaining shells.
Untill you have enough to exchange them for the tropical seeds at Benny's trader; these seeds are to be planted in the Greenhouse (Greenhouse still not operational yet, will probably be in one of the next updates and then the seeds will come available at Benny's trader, too).
The tropical/exotic fruits which come from the Greenhouse, you can sell to Captain Barnacle (ship) for a.o. horse shoes. So: these horse shoes are to be collected, too (as you are collecting shells now on the island).
When you have enough horse shoes, you can use these for your paddock (how is not known yet; whether it is only to unlock your paddock or can be used at the paddock to gain things/animals or all of these things, is still a surprise).
In short: these are all links in a greater chain =
island (shells) - Benny Buddler (tropical seeds) - Greenhouse (tropical fruits) - Ship (horse shoes) > Paddock.
So: you do not have to complete all 3 chapters of the island event in these 30 days; you just have to collect as much shells as possible.
Happy farming! 8)
In addition:
I do believe it to be important to keep an eye on Benny's truck, as its timeslider indicates 72 more hours to go than the timeslider on the island!! So, this tells me that after the island event finishes (after 30 days), we still have 72 hours to trade our shells for tropical seeds, which - as I expect - will have be made available then.
After these last 72 hours, Benny Buddler will leave, too, and we can only guess when he will come back.
Buy the airport
Work on the island farm
Buy seeds from Benny
Grow tropical fruits in the greenhouse
Sell tropical fruits to Captain Barnacle who will give you a.o. horse shoes
Use the horse shoes in your horse paddocks.
That entire cycle is called an event. If you complete all the steps (and as you probably guessed, you do not need to finish the island event to get enough shells to buy seeds (hopefully the seeds will not be that expensive) ) you will be able to run your horse farm.
I see Jiesta wrote about the same as I did now, I hope both our posts will make it a bit clearer for everybody to understand.
In case everybody is wondering which post Roadrunner and I are referring to, it is this one: https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/2014/08/08/the-new-farm-environment/
