Dictionary for non-english players?

Nipre3Nipre3 Posts: 46
Hi!

You guys have made many helpful spreadsheets, thank you for those.

Is there a spreadsheet where non-english players could see, what the different things in the game are called in English? It would be a big help when you need to ask something here in the forum.

For example I play the game on the Scandinavian server. Sometimes I run my game in Swedish and sometimes in Finnish. But I cannot run the game in English. If I need to ask something, I often don't know, what the things in game are called in English. For example the "blue star points" (level up points) are called KP:s in Finnish and XP:s in Swedish. And for example the differences between a task, project, mission and event. It would be a big help if there would be a spreadsheet where all the terms used in the game would be given in English and after every term there would be an explanation (in English or a screenshot) what that term means. Or is there already this kind of "dictionary" and if there is, could someone be so kind and post the link here? Thank you!

Is it something like this, you're thinkin on?
    Attachment not found.
Of course it would be a colossal work to make a complete dictionary on that way, and I'm also afraid if it should be complete at that way, it would be so big that's not are usefull.

But I think it's maybe are possible to make a 'little' usefull dictionary, if we only need to have the most important things in it.
    - As you can se I have taken in different cakes, because their danish names is very different from the danish names, and the same with the different houses where I think some non-english user maybe don't know the english words for each type of the houses.

Yes, something like that. And you're right, only a 'little' dicitionary would be fine. To put there those things you can't find in a real book/online dictionary (for example words like corn, chicken etc can be found in all dictionarys). Some special terms for the game (like those different points, differences between a mission, task, event etc, the different buildings etc) would be very useful.

Ok, I'll try to make something like the example I show you. :)
I think I'll gonna need some help to find things witch you and other non-english players would like to have in a dictionary.
You have to a beginning give me this:
(like those different points, differences between a mission, task, event etc, the different buildings etc) would be very useful.
and in your first post this:
For example the "blue star points" (level up points) are called KP:s in Finnish and XP:s in Swedish. And for example the differences between a task, project, mission and event.
Now I have something to start with...

Larino made such a list for us Dutchmen on the Dutch thread, containing all the project-names and research-names, because there was much confusion in especially these names. This might be an idea?

This is a great idea! Thank you Nipre3. It will help our co-op members from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, China and the Arabian world a lot.
Good job towards solving the issue BriannospamGame, thank you too

Because of that some of the things non-english players have asked for needs explanation for some pictures, my best idea at the moment would be both a text document file (for longer explanations) and a spreadsheet model (like I show it in post #4) to things where just the english name for a thing is wanted.

I thinking to use the text document to things like this picture with explanation in non-english language (I'll use danish):
    Attachment not found.
1 - Dollars konto (Dollar account)
2 - Guld konto (gold account)
3- Spiller niveu og erfaringspoint (player level and experience point (XP))
4 - Hvis du holder musen over dine erfaringpoint, får du oplyst hvor meget du mangler til næste niveau. (mouseover your experince points, tell you how many point are need to next level)
    5 - Tilfredshedsmåler (happiness meter)
6 - Den lille pil-knap åbner og lukker for menuen til spillets indstillinger. (The little arraw-button open and close the game settings)
7 - Spil indstillinger, her kan du bl.a. tænde og slukke for animationer, ændre billedkvalitet, og det er også her du kan slukke for notifikationer om missioner. (Game settings, Here e.g. you can turn on and of animations, change display qualify, and it's also here you can turn of mission notifications)

On that way, I will also make explanations for other things, e.g. the left side bar task.
I thinking to make the files in OpenOffice which is a Opensource (free for all) office progam.
As which I know (correct me if I'm wrong) some browsers, e.g. Google Chrome can open OpenOffice document without you need to have the Openoffice package installed on your pc.

Anybody have better ideas than this?

Took me some time - but found it!
You can find this list in the thread "Help offered for Dutch Players", page 26, post 518. Although it is an old list from before the revamp of the Gourmet-farm and it only concerns the Coop-researches, it still could be of a little help to complete your lists.

Thanks you very much Jiesta, and the same to Larino who have made that very usefull list. :)
The only thing I have to do to using that, is to change the dutch translations to danish. (And hope Larino finds that ok that used his (she 's?) work to my dictionary project. :)

Her, indeed XD I'm fine with it and I think it is time for me to apologize to the Dutchies. Remember that we set up something like that as well with somebody else? She sent me a spreadsheet with Dutch words, but I could not edit that sheet. I could have typed it all over but I did not feel like it back then and forgot after. I may still try, but it will be a lot of work :( The sheet is somewhere I cannot find it, but no English has been added yet, all Dutch, so that will not help here :)

Edit: had to go vague because I cannot find anything back about this sheet XD

Edit 2: I made a dictionary for the Dutch (yay finally! :P) - will send a message to Brian with the editable version so he could use it if he wants. The link to the secured document is in the Help for Dutch players thread.
