New magazine? Like this game

ArtmakerArtmaker Posts: 415
I don't know about any of you, but the first thing I do when I buy a new magazine, is take it to the trash, hold the front and back page and shake it. They always stuff it with those little drop out ads. You know what I'm talking about. You turn a page and this card falls to the floor. They hope while your picking it up and tossing it aside that you will look at it. And of course drop everything your doing and go off to buy what ever they are selling. (Yea right.)
Well not me. I know they are in there, I know they are annoying, and any new magazine gets the trash can shake. I never look at the dumb things. Never see what ever they are selling. I bought the magazine for it's content. (Which is already going to be broken up with big full page ads anyway.)

Now there is this game. First thing I do after I log on, is wait for the pile of pop in your face garbage. All I do is click the red box in the corner to throw it out! I don't look. Don't even know what they are to list here. Yes I looked once. And there is NOT ONE THING that interests me enough to waste any more time looking again.
So my game, basically gets the trash can shake. And even then, a pop up will still appear right in the middle of my trying to harvest, or plant....

It's really becoming a drag. Sucking up all the fun out of this.

By the way.... while trying to get my mill going, I accidently clicked the pig sty right next to it. Suddenly the pigs I JUST started were ready to harvest. GOLD LOST YET AGAIN!!!!!!

Well fine. IT's game gold. This is not the first time by a long shot. I stopped spending gold long ago here. So this time, no loss. They stole back their own gold.
Where is a gold lock or double click to spend, or something here???? It's been asked for over and over. Instead we get this horrible gourmet (poo) farm and the really horrible slashing of happiness so it's not even possible to hit the 100% mark. They rolled out the new farm without anyone actually looking at the math. It looses money. To be fixed A WEEK LATER.

What the heck is going on here? You want me to spend? I want my money kept in a safe place until I really want to spend it. And I want a game with stuff I really want bad enough to spend money on.

Neither of which is happening.

By the way. I stopped buying magazines years ago. Content is just too buried between car ads, medication ads, food ads, shoe ads, ads ads ads.... I finally just gave up on it.

I'm holding out with the promise of all the new stuff. But dang. The developers REALLY need to read all the complaints in here and do something about it. They should try actually playing for awhile. Maybe then the light bulb will go on.

The light bulb is burning brightly. High turnover. They're not interested so much in players who will stay as they are in players who will buy gold, which translates into new players who don't know any better yet.

Yea.... sad but true. Nothing like keeping loyal customers huh? People who HAVE SPENT money are considered expendable. I just don't get it. Make a good product and attract new while keeping the ones you got already. How can it do any good to blow off people who have already invested?

    scratching head.

Because they've already invested. Their contribution has been made. They don't matter anymore. THis is not just GGS. It's a trend I've seen developing over the last decade or so. I blame a shift from listening to player feedback to listening to what the metrics software is saying.

Artmaker, I don't know how long you have been playing Big Farm, but as a newbie, I am enjoying the gourmet farm...especially since I've had three 100 dollar drops between yesterday and today! Wow...what a difference from the $5 drops in the main farm. I am also enjoying baking and feeding the ducks. I do agree with you though that there are too many pop-up adds that clutter our screens. There has to be a better way! I, myself, am a proponent of the game subscription option. I don't mind paying to have ad-free play. Perhaps if the developers went that way and dropped ads in our email where we could opt to read or not we wouldn't be as frustrated. There must be ways to make us happier. But, I don't know what they have tried in the past and I don't know what their budget constructions are, etc. So, I don't say much on the subject. I just hope they do indeed follow our forums and read some of our suggestions. But, let's all hang in there and not berate the gourmet farm...let us take a "I'll give it a month and see" attitude....lots can change in that time...give the gourmet farm a chance to evolve!

    Love,
    Hayseed Lil

Oh I'm enjoying the new farm too. My point was the blunders made in the simple math of the thing loosing money should have never rolled out that way, but ok, mistakes happen. I would think they would be all over fixing that one. At the very least post right in the game, just like they did before the new farm rolled out, some little flashing icon so people could read and see, ooopsy, don't use the bakery just yet until we fix it. Sorry.
not everyone goes to the forums. And for those who play and pretty quickly figure out they actually are in negative numbers, they will only knock it down. Or get disgusted and leave.

Aphasia I think your right. People who already invested don't matter anymore. It's just sad but yea. I see that a lot in other businesses. Is there any wonder the economy is doing so poorly? What ever happened to customer service? Customer loyalty. They customer is always right???

My first real job back when I was in HS, I worked for a guy who would fire someone for putting a customer on hold and not making sure they were helped. TWO min was the limit and you better pick up the phone and ask if anyone is helping them. Or else! Now you can't even get to a human anymore.
I had to call the local phone company the other day. OH MY GOD! Endless circles of voice mail hell.
I needed an old outdated, unused phone line removed from the house. Automated systems simply can't understand that.

"Hello this is the auto system. Tell me what you want. Support. Ok, so I may better direct your call tell me what you need. Ok, I need an old line removed from a house.
You want to pay your bill correct??? NO NO NO.... I need support. Ok, so I may direct your call tell me what you need.... SUPPORT. HUMAN. AGENT. SERVICE... Ok, how may I direct your call. I need a tech. Ok, you would like to add a phone line correct? NO DAMN IT! NO NO NO. AGH!"

I went around like this for over two hours!!!!!!! Ready to kill someone by the time I FINALLY made it to the right person in the right department. This should have taken all of five min. But no. Customer service is in the toilet.
Even the phone company can't answer their own phone.

Sorry to get off track but it's all along the same lines here. Customers are not just ignored, but irritated no end.
Lets do something to irritate the very people we expect to pick up their credit cards and pay us.

GG. hows that working out for ya?

Oh, it's working. Otherwise it'd be different. There's a lot of truth in the saying; "There's a sucker born every minute." Unfortunately for gamers, more and more game publishers have taken this to heart...and are laughing all the way to the bank.

But Art, in the phone company case you'd still continue to use their service even if they irritate the crap out of you with their poor service, right? Maybe they're the only phone company in the area, so your choices are to either use their crappy service or not have a working phone line at all. But it's not like we are limited in our choices here, are we?

(Edit: to be clear, I agree with the sentiment here, but I think that poor customer service isn't necessarily the determinant of whether or not you keep using a good, that's all.)

The logic on this game is not logical at all.

The whole game is about the production of manure. We basically are forced to sell the animals for next to nothing. The dung is worth more than the animal, in that its turned into fertilizer for the orchard production, where we get a bit of cash after 7 hours of making fruit.

I think the developers have never ever been to a farm in their life. Houses cause workers to be unhappy? Yet more and more decorations is better than more farm production? Will you please learn how economics actually work? What are you actually teaching kids here? As long as it looks good, its better than being productive?

I enjoy games, but this game and their flawed logic of costs and sales and their endless impossible ways to play unless you pour tons of real life money into it, is a real downer. Most games allow you to play for free, albeit, at a very slow pace, but this game just bankrupts the free player so that they move on to another game.

Keep going, you will soon be out of a job,.... another company fails hard in cyberland.
