I need some coop help. Few questions
Got a few questions.
1. The little coop description I have written. WHERE does an average player go to see it? I tried searching for my own coop and though it comes up in a list, I can't seem to view the description. Other than in my own edit window and even there it doesn't show the whole thing. Wondering if people are only able to view half of it?
Should I shorten it to a few lines?
Where would someone "shop" for a coop to join?
2. At the bottom of my coop description I have a part about how personal notes are better than the automated thing. And either way I will send new applicants a note just to see if they reply.
I'm wondering if A. No one can see that part or B. Maybe there is something wrong with the messaging system???
Reason I'm posting this, we have had one open spot for the longest. I have had a LOT of applicants. (At least a dozen I turned down.) Only a couple send a real note. But so far not one has bothered to reply to me. A few sitting in my list right now have leveled up a few times so I know they are on here.
I sent a pretty generic note saying something like
Unless maybe something isn't working.

^^ When you write the invitation letter, tell them you will help them any way you can, and would love to have them in your co-op, but also tell them what is expected of them like help with projects and farm cash donations.
They can scroll down and read the description. You might say that in the first line.
I get plenty of applications without doing anything. But when I sent my little note, and get no reply, over a dozen times now, I have to wonder if it's possible the thing isn't working right?
Also... can you, or someone show me how I might look at a coop and read their intro? I just want to see if mine shows up in it's entirety or if my bit at the bottom about me writing and them answering is being cut off.
If you're asking how to see your "Cooperative Description" page like others see it, you can visit one of your co-op members farms (like you would if you were watering their tree) water it, if needed, and then click the tree again and the cooperative overview box should pop up.
**edit to add: I know the description box doesn't show a scroll bar, but you are able to scroll down in the description window. So if you write a bit more than shows up, it can still be seen by anyone who happens to scroll down. Though, I don't think the majority know you can scroll down to see more, so it quite possibly would not be seen by most.
The person will see your description as soon as they doubleclick on the name of your cooperative. I.e a player is looking for a cooperative and is looking thru all the names, they find a name they like and click on that specific name. What they will see is the amount of people you have and the description, if the description is a long one they will have to scroll down to in order to see it. So I think its a personal preference on to have a long or short descripton
As regrading getting memembers it is a tricky one, I cannot give you a direct answer since everyone is doing everything different. And even myself have had problems with recruiting people, but one option is to introduce your cooperative here in the forums. That has helped me a few times.
How to search for a cooperative
At the bottom of the screen where you have all the options of buildining things, your mailbox etc there's a picture of 3 people called mutliplayer features. IN that "section" you can choose to search for players and cooperatives.
Hope these answered your questions.

Chit chat aside, you already knew these things from other people replying mostly. Here is what your co-op looks like for an outsider:
Attachment not found.
Work to do. Especially with the new gourmet farm now.
Thanks. I'll try a rewrite on the coop and see if that helps.
You must have rewritten already as the text I read is somewhat different from Larino's screenshot. It's still longer than the window but I don't see that as such a big issue? Anyone motivated and with some clue of the game will know to scroll, the visible part of the text before scrolling is not the end of a sentence and runs: 'Failing to reply means you probably won't be active and...' (you'd think people'd want to know how the sentence ends and will try to scroll even if unsure that scrolling is possible)
I can't help you with the email issue as I also have a coop so I cannot try to apply to yours, just to see whether I'd get your mail. You might want to ask someone who's got experience but no particular wish to join a coop to do that for you? (I think montuos also has a farm on the uk server and, as far as I recall, he's a lone wolf. I have no idea whether he'd agree to test this for you though)
Jatoda, you wanna watch out if using the dog as a test of someone's activity: if you judge their level of activity by checking on the dog once, you're probably doing them an injustice: depending on the area of the world they live in, they might simply be asleep. My dog is hungry every morning when I hook up on the farm and he's hungry again every time I come home from work. I started playing end October and am level 67 and still climbing... gives you an idea of how 'little' time and energy I spend on my farm.
After one month of inactivity the leadership will be passed on automatically. To be a bit more precise that is probably 32 days. You will see an activity in chat that the leadership has been passed on. The new leader will be the person that is highest ranked in the co-op after the leader, whether that is a deputy or normal member. If he is also inactive the leadership will be passed on until an active person has been found.
I also check to see if the mill is running. I have checked most of the non co-op farms so many times, I can almost tell you if they are active by their level. when I was at a certain level I check and then go back later to see if they have moved up any. a majority of them are still sitting in the same general level. I started in September and I am at level 83. every day I check the ranking to see if anyone at my level has a co op. Then I return to some of my other ones I checked before. most are inactive. I have 29 members in my co-op. this is working pretty well for me. we are ranked 129 and moving up pretty steadily. thank you for your advice though. I think quite a few that don't have a co-op have the ignore players turned on also.
to Artmaker, for inpingeing on his thread with irrelevant comments,
and to you Jatoda: I thought you meant you went to their farm once to check it out, and if their dog was hungry, that was it. I could understand Artmaker's method but yours (the way I had understood it) seemed like russian roulette!
Now you explain it, it makes a lot of sense. And if I think I'm a decent player, my coop is still very mediocre: I was silly enough to start my coop with family members: I've just had to boot my own mum (ouch!) and I can hardly pressure my children to work harder: bad parenting :-)
So keep up the good work and ignore me!
As for checking if someone is active goes,
The dog is not a good clue. For reasons already explained.
The mill isn't either. I have three farms and often all three have full barns. Or if an event is coming that needs feed production, I'll let the mill sit for awhile so when I get there I can keep it going. So still mill isn't a clue.
The best clue for applicants is if they answer my little greeting letter. If they can't do that much they probably won't be worth accepting only to have to boot later.
And of course if your in a coop you can see the little "light" thing by members names. Anyone who goes into the red without telling me ahead of time may be booted. (And people do take vacations or leave for other reasons. no one gets the boot for that as long as I know.)
