Demolishing Houses

L1ndy12L1ndy12 Posts: 4
When I upgrade a house the info says it gives 25 workers then only gives 5. I need to demolish some houses so I can get my production costs down. How can I do this when I can't get the right amount of workers when I upgrade? I have no expansions left so there's no help there.

A level 3 standard house provides 20 workers in total and a level 4 house 25 in total. The upgrade gives you an extra 5 workers. This works the same as the previous upgrade from level 2 15 in total to level 3, 20 in total

    red houses
    Level 1 provides 10 workers
    Level 2 provides 15 workers (5 more)
    Level 3 provides 20 workers (5 more)
    Level 4 provides 25 workers (5 more)
    Level 5 provides 30 workers (5 more)

    blue houses
    Level 1 provides 12 workers
    Level 2 provides 17 workers (5 more)
    Level 3 provides 22 workers (5 more)
    Level 4 provides 27 workers (5 more)
    Level 5 provides 32 workers (5 more)

To get your happiness up you may have to demolish a production unit or two , to release the workers to demolish a house and add more decorations.

Planning and strategising is key to a successful Big Farm

    edit to add:

I like larino's idea of reviewing the decorations you already have. Upgrading your decorations as you grow and expand is important

There is spreadsheet of happiness (and dollars and gold) per square here to help you maximise your space

No no, the info is correct. A level 1 house gives 10 workers, level 2 gives 15 (so 5 extra), level 3 gives 20, level 4 gives 25 and level 5 gives 30. Those are the total amounts of workers, not the amount you get extra. If you want to demolish a house, it depends how high level that house is, for how many free workers you need. You can also demolish a production building to get the workers out of it. Why would you want to demolish it? To make some more space for decorations? Did you replace lower happiness decorations with higher happiness ones yet? That may also help instead of demolishing a house.

you get 5 workers each time you upgrade and 10 when you put house down in order to demo a house you need 10 workers + 5 for each level over the first one it is for example a house level 4 gives you 25 workers 10 for level 1 then 5 extra for level 2 and anther 5 for level 3 and 5 more for level 4 making the total workers for said house 25

L1ndy1, looking at your farms, I think you can definitely tetris things in better. I see empty space on each of your farms that could be used to build more decos if you arranged things more efficiently, so I'd advise working on that first. Don't waste space by plunking 4x4 decos into a row of 5x5 houses; put your 4x stuff into 4x rows, and keep the 5x stuff together. Ditto your 7x buildings; get your barns, sties, and orchards lined up together instead of scattered all over, and that will mean you will need fewer of the low-value 3x decorations. See Tetrissing your farm for excellent advice on how to do that.

Next, "upgrade" your decos. At level 77 you have very little excuse for still using flowerbeds when you can build big trees and even better decorations. Go read Happiness per square, and why you should care.

Don't forget to take advantage of the limited-time decorations during events! For instance, every time the fairy tale event comes around, you should replace 5x4 decos with enchanted trees, or stone dragons during the Asian event (which may start in a day or two), and replace lakes with thickets during the camping event or Hawaiian beaches during that event. Also, I know it's fun to have crop circles, but their value is for players who can't build lakes yet; you should trade that one up too, at least until your happiness is good enough to allow you to display it.

Remember too that when they're lined up together, you can replace four 5x5 decos with five 5x4's, which is relevant because enchanted trees are actually more valuable than thickets. Put your tractors in the areas where you can't line up enough to make that conversion an option. The principle is the same with the 4x decos: 2 barbecue areas are better than 3 big trees, let alone flowerbeds; 4 enchanted trees are way better than 5 big trees.

Once you've done the best you can with your decorations in the space available, then you can work on consolidating your housing into a smaller space.

One more thing: How often do you harvest your apples? If you harvest them 5 or 6 times a day, you should consider replacing 1 or 2 of your cherries with apples for better profits. If you're playing less than that, though, then your cherries probably are a better investment.

I recently demolished 2 houses. The only reason I did this is to get me to 2000 Happiness Level 10, I did have enough workers to cover it, and I plan on rebuilding them later.

You need to build or upgrade houses. Remember when you do that though to build decorations to offset the unhappiness that building/upgrading does to your profits.
