I thought this might be the case I bought 4 more plots since they announced the changes fingers crossed I have enough cash to get them all (I dont have them all on the main farm so I might not be a high enough level)

I think I got the idea from you as well. I read it somewhere on the forums that somebody thought it may be like this and I decided to buy them all in case the prices would change. But I did not remember who said it. Maybe it was you ^^ I hope you will manage still!

I've just bought another 3, the last 4 come to 25mil (I can afford the next but don't want to risk the architect turning up over the weekend) need to save another 19mil.. so might not get them all, but i'd rather not have to buy them ( at i'd expect at least twice that) after.

I am looking forward to these changes on the Gourmet Farm, and it will be interesting to see how the farms will all tie into one another eventually. I am glad for all the questions asked and answered!! They have been very helpful :)

This is due to the completely different content of the farm, especially when it comes to higher levels. Level requirements for expansions might also change due to that :)

Don't forget you'll keep all your expansions though.
So high level players who bought most of the expensions in the gourmet farm are going to loose money(again)?

Is there going to be a dairy? If not, how will all the "milk" be processed?

No, there will not. But there will be a bakery that makes new ready dishes like the restaurant does now. The only difference is that the dishes will end up in the inventory and can be sold whenever you want. We do not know which dishes and which ingredients they use though.

So read the new thread and you need the water mill to produce feed for the animals... so much for the theory that "if you don't want it, don't build it"!!! I am sure the composter will do something the same, needing it to produce more things. I like the fact that the almond orchard creates almonds for the restaurant and feeds to goats, no more double tasking now I guess.

I guess I should have known that since they were shrinking the almond orchard and garden that you would need a whole bunch more stuff to take up the space. Considering it now takes a whole lot more happiness and decorations to run efficiently (my farm went from -95 to -79 with that silly update) I was hoping that something like this wouldn't happen, but I have been more disappointed than happy with most of the updates, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Also read there will not be a dairy.. the dairy produces cream for things on the gourmet farm.. wondering if that cream will be replaced by something else or honey cream from the shop itself will be nixed.

I assume you meant the Flower farm, and I was wondering the same thing. The Cream is used in Honey Cream and the Pasta/Tomatoes are used in the Pasta Basket, so that would be 2 recipes out of 8 (25%), and the longest running-time (overnight) items made in the Flower Shop that won't work any more unless something is done to replace those ingredients and/or recipes. For those players that haven't yet upgraded the Flower Shop past level 2, the Pasta Basket gives the most dollar/XP combo as well. I thought GG said that this update wouldn't affect the other farms, but apparently somebody was wrong on that.

My understanding that those recipes will either have the item substituted or new recipes will be introduced. We are all waiting to see what happens.

Yes Farmer Black, I meant the flower farm... I am hoping if not substituted at least have something that makes as much money.. currently making 620k for honey cream, that is my bread and butter!!

The recipes in the shop of the flower farm will of course be changed in accordance to the removal of the old goods.
In the meantime you may either use other recipes until you were able to produced the needed goods on the gourmet farm again, or you can of course purchase the new goods immediately to start the production. :)

... (I can afford the next but don't want to risk the architect turning up over the weekend) ...

Min: Same here, but I'm thinking, even if the Architect does turn up and I'm short of cash,,,,he'll be back again at some point. Whereas we only get the one stab at purchasing all the land before the update. I've got two more to go. I'm also not clearing the land as I don't need the room nor have enough time (and if the architect does come I don't want to be busy constructing) but leaving it until the rebuild reduction period after the update, not sure if it will work out that way but it's worth trying as I've nothing to lose but may win out.

Thanks Montuos for quoting that from Latten... when I did a search for "Cream" and other terms, I didn't see that statement on the search list, but the message from Angie was. I guess the good thing is that at least GG realizes Flower changes are required, that was the main point of bringing up the question. :)

I'm with you nig4x4. Depending on what they make the land prices, that last piece of Gourmet land could increase $20mil+, I think that's a good reason not to worry so much about the Architect and concentrate on as many land expansions as possible before the Gourmet changes are made.

I personally was $2mil short of getting the last piece yesterday, but I have been using up all my Gourmet ingredients in as many higher recipes as I can without making more, and I am now only $50k short; will finish it off in about an hour. I'm getting double duty from it... using up the Gourmet ingredients with more profit than selling them outright (hopefully) and being able to buy the land without selling off barn stores of items that will remain after the update. Since I'm not making more of those ingredients I have a lot less operating costs on the Gourmet farm, so the profits can all be spent on the land. As you said nig4x4, I should "win out".

A word of caution to those who are thinking about using all of their available cash to purchase more land expansions before the rollout of the new gourmet farm...

We don't yet know the construction and upgrade costs of the new buildings for the gourmet farm. The buildings will have smaller footprints, and there will be more of them to build and upgrade. I'd like to think that the farmdollars I get back from the buildings that will be removed will cover the costs of the new structures - but the more I think about it, the more I doubt that will be the case. At this point, I'm sort of expecting to need to invest a lot more farmdollars in the gourmet farm to get it fully built again.

It could be pretty disappointing to have a lot of vacant land, and no $ to build anything on it. Just a bit of food for thought...

You said a mouthful! Plot 24 took about 10:30 with a level 4 cabin, and the last plot wants 11:40 (for a plot known to be empty, too)! But at least I have them now while they're still less than $7 million each.

It could be pretty nice to have huge tracts of land available to build decorations on. I'm accustomed to not having as much money available as I need for everything I want to do, anyway.

I thought about that, too - and in this game, one doesn't have to pay taxes on it. :)

In any case, there are always many things to think about in making these decisions. I really hope we get more info about the new GF soon.

Money may not bad to get hold of, we get refunded all money invested in upgrades I hope, with 50% construction time, rebuilding gourmet farm mightn't as hard as we think, we'll just have wait & see

.....and while we are rebuilding one new production facility with the refunded game cash during the reduced construction period, we'll be earning income from all our farms should the refund run dry, so I'm not overly worried about running out of cash during that period.

It's now I'm struggling to pay for that last field! This could go down to the wire!!!!!! lol

p.s. ( ARGH!!!!!! and no sooner did I post this and Steve turns up with his blue prints under his arm.....didn't know he read the threads!!!!!!!!!! )

Ah, Steve...so dependably showing up at the least opportune times! :P And I've missed an hour of his time, so the odds of me getting in a second upgrade after my house are now vanishingly low...

After reading all these posts I'm glad to be caught up on all the possible changes we can expect to see, and the problems at we may not of expected. The most concerning for me is definitely the issue of how these changes are affecting the Flower Farm too. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that there will be something just as profitable as honey cream included with the update, with no bugs :)

Definitely excited about the new gourmet farm, and being optimistic that we will still be able to generate as much money as we currently do (let's say if you run marzipan ice cream, honey cream, Rita's salad and apple pie, a lot, like I do).

Also, if you plan to go ahead with the update and give us the 50% reduced building time, PLEASE postpone any Events as well? Give us a chance to just focus on rebuilding our 2nd farm? That would be lovely!

Lastly, a plug for my co-op, the Green Giants. We're recruiting. Please apply! :D

I wanted to ask about gourmet farm research. Will our co-op be refunded the cost of research already completed that is no longer useable? ie: if we completed the research on omelets and the new restaurant will not make omelets will we be refunded the cost we spent on research?

And will there be a 50% reduction in (new) research times for the first 7 days to help us return to our current lvl? Just curious. Love the game! Thanks.
  • edited 24.03.2014
I think that the research will be converted into an equivalent research. I.e. if you have done omelettes level 3 and the new farm doesnt have omelettes but instead has croissants, then the research will be converted to level 3 croissants

@Stork and Goose: see KatNip's post on page 12:

As for the Gourmet research, the new research will be swapped over one to one. For example, say you've completed the Perfectly Fried Lv 1 research, then the research that is put in it's place will be marked as completed. Any research that is already done and can't be swapped for a new research will see your coop with a full refund in compensation.

    Kat.

I somehow remember them saying they'd announce at the beginning of the week if we have the update this week or not. ;o
For now there's just more tease about what the new buildings are going to look like though. D:
Does this mean update day has officially been moved to wednesday and information day to tuesday or is this an exception-week like the egg update one? ^-^
