A solution for accidental gold spending

ezio auditore3ezio auditore3 Posts: 2,399
Hey guys, I just got this idea for a solution while I was gone jogging and I ran back quick to type this, so I'm really sorry if some of it doesn't make sense or there are typos :)

My solution/suggestion is that we could put a timer one when the gold becomes effective. For example, suppose your timer is on 2 minutes, then when you skip construction a timer will start from 2 minutes to zero. And when the timer reaches zero THEN your gold will be used to speed up. To avoid that in missions, I propose that the timer should have 4 options, No timer, 1 minute, 2 and a half minutes, and 5 minutes.

''But what will I do with a timer? The gold is still going to be used when it runs out''

Well, when the timer's counting down, you can cancel spending the gold. I honestly think this is a good solution and if something is not clear then please do ask instead of just rejecting because of a confusion.

Thanks for reading, Ezio

Interesting idea but when you do a mission, sometimes you use gold at last minute to finish something and that 2 min lag would be an issue, especially when you use 1 gold to finish each special seed

Which is why I suggested that there could be 4 options to choose from.

    1) No timer (for missions)
    2)1 minute
    3) 2 and a half minutes
    4) 5 minutes :)

I think SOMETHING needs to be done, just not sure what. I have lost "heaps" of gold also. There has to be a solution that's good for the players and GGS alike. I doubt their intention is to "take/steal" gold from players......however I know as a player that's how I feel.

I think my gold lock suggestion (search the forum for it) is better. Click the lock shut when you log in and you can't spend gold without a prompt "unlock it first." Or leave it. Open by default and everything here stays the same as it is. Much easier I think.

ok re-read like 4 times nowLOL
during the time of the countdown to when your gold is used and process starts--the option to cancel is there?
    oh i like that ;)

Yup that's exactly what it means :)

Artmaker, your suggestion was good but it got denied so I thought I might give it a try :)

Well (denied?? Really???? thought it was still being considered)

I do like this one because if you forget to put the lock on the gold again, you might still spend it on accident. This one gives a chance to cancel the action :)

Not completely denied but Latten said that the gold 'lock' couldn't be added since it stops people from spending gold.

if it is so easy to spend it on things i would never invest in--i won't buy gold. Lots of people have stated that. I am hoping they come up with something.

You can have opinion, but we would like to have something to stop spending gold so that we can save it up for something that we really want.

All you fellas need to do is work on Hand-eye coordination. Mouse accuracy goes a long way nowadays. My intentions are far from coming onto this forum to be a jerk, but this idea isn't worth a painting of a mule and a chicken getting it on.

Well, then i also have a solution: I won't buy gold if GGS doesn't improve this. I am tired of supporting a really good idea only to have it shot down by nasty remarks. The credit card will stay right where it is.

GGS needs to take a basic marketing class. The lock option is a GREAT idea. It is unfortunate that it got shot down. It is also impossible to get gold back that has been accidentally spent. As Monica said, this makes me MUCH less willing to spend money on gold, especially when my 2-year old can spend it fast and furious just by clicking around the farm. A simple lock would allow me to stock up on gold and spend it readily when I want to. GGS is LOSING a lot of money on this one. Again, take a basic marketing class.

I have (and I know in my coop many others have) lost gold several times without meaning to spend it. I have good eye-hand coordination, but it happens just like that. The touchpad on my laptop is very sensitive. Should be no problem, if I could take back the gold/undo the action.

*BUMP* I really want to hear what a CM thinks about this...... :)

Not completely denied but Latten said that the gold 'lock' couldn't be added since it stops people from spending gold.

So, instead of denying it, they have merely... forbidden it?

Incidentally, I like both ideas... they both have merit and I hate to be a killjoy but if the gold lock has been "forbidden", then GGS will really go to town on this idea as well and I would bet my gold on it.

Since we already talked about the 'gold lock' and this discussion doesn't really seem to stay on topic right now, I'll better close the thread ;)
