Cats are kept on many many real farms to keep mice and rats out of the feed in the barn. That's why they're called barn cats...

Mick, you just haven't met the right cat, mate... my cats are just like dogs... follow us around everywhere, stay around us, crave attention and not for food, except for once per day when they are hungry. If they don't know where we are, they come and seek us out for pats and then purr their heads off. They meet us at the door when we get home and my boy cat then runs out into the yard under the big poinciana tree, then throws himself down on his back so that I can pat his belly. Alright, we haven't taught them to fetch yet, but you never know.....

My cat also does things like that. He was very little when we rescued him and he learned all those things from our dog. Also likes to ride in a car. When we go on a vacation he always goes with us, he seats or sleeps in the backseat. :)

I am originally from Iowa. Farmers always had cats as ratters. When I brought home the approval slip so that I could go to farm on a field trip, my mother would write in "do not give him a kitten!"

Maybe we could have a tower for all the rejected farm animals, like cats, sheep, horses and velociraptors.

They rejected velociraptors!?! I missed that :( I'm devastated. I set my heart on velociraptors being the new animal we have been promised

I would even upgrade my otherwise useless mine if I could cram a few velociraptors in it. Or trade my dog for one so I could watch it chase my chubby little people around the farm.

A Triceratops would be so much more useful because it could demolish the deco tower, beats miley cyrus on a wrecking ball because thats just taking things to a weird scary place I don't want to visit! :D

As for cats, i'll take that over the dog anyday. They are cute, quiet, wont demean themselves by begging for a treat and as someone else stated earlier.....EVIL! My kind of creature.

Cats are a Great idea. They will help control the vermin before they become a problem with our grains. Dogs help ward off the wolves, coyotes, & foxes but ignore the vermin. We have a river nearby so we really need a cat to ward off river rats & to eat the mice we know are nibbling at the grains.

what are you a cat hater? for your info i taught my cat to sit and to stay and come here. my also lets me know when
someone is at the door. whereever did you get the idea cats are stupid. if the game programmers had given me
my choice i would have chosen a CAT. it is not fair i did not get to choose.

Will the dog chase it? Will it climb trees? Will we get to see it play with yarn and catch mice?

Remember, the dog thinks you are his family, but the cat thinks you are his staff.

My cat even posts on the forums. TweedleDum is his name and yes, I am his staff, bring him sugary milk to drink every morning just after I finish my cereal.

My one comment to stay on topic, yes please, a kitty would be purrrrfect.

    Top

P.S. A creeper would be a good visitor for the new blue skyscraper.....That is a nisssssse deco you have there.

    That's not me-YOW!! (I meow-n, just broke a claw -- I meow--mean nail -- on this keypurrrd)...

We need farm cats -- and mice for them to chase -- and we need the dog to . . . interact . . . with them.

mick, I also prefer dogs to cats, but believe you me, cats DO have a very important place on a working farm! :-) You see, cats eat mice! And as everybody knows, mice are pest, they gorge themselves on the wheat stored in the barns! So... :-D
