Though I always love updates, I'm not impressed by what I read here.

tower. I KNOW what decorations I have and which ones I like but have retired for good because they don't fill the need anymore. I don't need another doo dad just to show me what I already know.

Fertile fields. Well... this MIGHT be something worth spending gold on IF... and only IF
    A. It's not insanely expensive. I'll do without. (Changing the dogs color for example. Are you all insane?)
    B. Until such time as some form of safety measure is put in place so gold cannot be so easily accidently blown, forget it. I'm not putting one more red cent into this game. And I have. Would again. FIX THIS!!!!
I offered a few suggestions. The gold lock seems the easiest. By default UNlocked. And perhaps every time you log in. But the player would have the option of LOCKING it so not to drop it by mistake.

Or... some kind of secondary "are you sure" prompt.
    Something.
Until that's done, I don't care what whoop dee doo thing you come up with. I can't afford it.

.....Uhh yeah, okay! Yep, I have got A LOT to say about this thread and its posts. Who is in the mood to do some reading, hmm? FIRST, Nafaru, Latten and other CMs and mods, you all rock! I am your number one fan and love you guys to death. Now, I know how hard it is to keep a secret so feel free to message me privately and share what further juicy details you know about this next update that everyone is going to enjoy! I'll be a willing sacrifice because I know you are dying to tell someone... :D Hahaha j/k! But you are all really awesome!

NEXT: ezio, as always I found everything you said agreeable! SuperSpaceGirl great replies! dragonpride, you made excellent points! I did agree with fro's reply too. And draas, I absolutely loved and agreed with each of your posts. Beautifully done! Undertaker, with the ability to keep one foot firmly planted on both sides, as usual you have made very valid and straight to the point observations for both sides. An excellent read!

Here are a few posts that made an impression on me
Is it... Oh damn... He's gone *poof* before I got a chance to find out which of these things it is!
Oh! My! Gosh! Undertaker cussed! Shame, shame. Had to go and be naughty after all! ;) However, it would seem that there is some slacking in moderator land as no one has edited it yet... :whistling: LMAO!
half size fields means "3*4" or "4*3" means duck pond size :O
This just made me laugh so hard! Granted that these fields are going to perform the enviable service of freeing up valuable land, but there is no amount of benefits that is going to change just how ridiculous I believe those tiny fields are going to look! It is going to be a scream!

So I'm now going to have a giant tower next to my farm, alongside the disproportionately giant bookstore and mine and monster tree?
With out a doubt, I find this very groan-worthy as well. It will be rather unnatural looking, won't it? Can't say I'm looking forward to that tower...

    Just one quick, thought-provoking comment:

Would ANYONE that has lodged a complaint about the current update work for FREE? Money makes the world go 'round :)
That is an excellent question! At the same time, Undertaker's further analysis raises some very good examples of what could be considered appropriate and inappropriate reasons for GGS to push gold sales.
    Alex_mosu wrote: »
nice work CGS! this is the perfect way to destruction, as seen many times before in other companies... good for you.. we are bored anyway... :(
Alex, you have taken the very unwelcomed liberty of speaking for all players as a whole by saying "we are bored anyway" I imagine there will be some agreement when I say SPEAK for yourself! I am in no way, at all bored with this game so you have no business putting words in my mouth! What if I were to announce to GGS "Great job, GGS! We love your updates"? Is that something you would like me to include you in on. I'm not saying that you can't have an opinion. Have an opinion but make it yours!

You know what, I am disappointed about this update. It does bum me out as I will not be able to partake in this fantastic new smaller field feature. I can can afford very little gold and when I do I spend it sparingly. However, the 'gold users versus non-golders' mentality is really getting old! I agree that there is an obvious division between the two when referring to missions. But because GGS introduces a few new gold cost buildings? To me, it just comes off as a temper tantrum! This game remains as free-to-play as it did in the beginning because everything you need to start, build up and maintain this virtual farm, without interruption to your game play all still costs farm dollars. Not one gold cost building that has been introduced causes any kind of hindrance to continued play. YES, they may offer awesome benefits but, you can still do with out. Players keep complaining how non-gold buyers should get some of these options but the fact is, that you may not get the lower unhappiness rate offered with the gold house, extra storage that comes with the gold barn or the space conservation of the gold field but alas, you are not without options. You still have the regular house, barn and field, all for farm dollars. The gold purchase items of the game are just special extras, and I feel it unreasonable to expect to make use of them without paying extra.
oh, FYI, I am actually dreading the tower. It appears to be blantantly useless and pointless and I have no need to be up close and personal with my decos. I also know what I do and don't have and what I don't have, I don't have by choice. I am not keeping a puny 12 happiness flower patch, just to have one of everything listed in this dumb tower. Sorry, GGS but...LAME! Who knows, maybe I'll be surprised.
Now, the gourmet farm revamp...please tell me they are going to use my brilliant potato and french fries idea!! The next update sounds verrrry promising! Can't wait!
Well, if you accuse me of going on and on and on I'd say....GUILTY! Hate what I wrote, love what I wrote or wish I would cease to exist, whatever the case. Thanks for reading and happy farming!

Yes! I will go down in history as the longest, most pointlessly rambling poster ever!

Wow, I read it all Short! Thank you for your praise on behalf of myself - I'm sure the CM's and Tess will happily speak for themselves soon too. :)

I must say, it's nice to see the new wave of presenting opinions that's moving through the forum lately. A bit of reality with a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour. It makes for interesting reading. ^^

As for my comment on the update....can't love them all. Keep up the hard work, GGS. It's a tough competitive world especially in the gaming industry. So much competition.

Wow......... That's a huge post. Kat, can you ban her for using up too much space? Jk :D

Seriously though, thanks Short :) And honestly that was an amazing post :)

Yes, I read it all too and I have only one thing to say to you, Short:

"Short, that was long but now you have given us the long and the short of it." ;)

I really do love this game. Some of my posts might not show it but I do. What I don't like is the unfair gulf between golders like me and non-golders. I have deliberately not bought some of the recent upgrades because of this.

I do have to say that the gap between the Haves and the Have Nots doesn't matter a pinch of brown stuff if you don't care about the following:
    1. You don't do missions.... ever.
    2. You do missions but only do them for the fun, or only for the XP and you don't care at all where you come in the mission or how many XP you gain.
    3. You don't care about what your rank is relative to everyone else's, either in XP, AP, RP, SP, C3PO or R2D2 (Well alright, the last two aren't in this game but I do love Star Wars).... oh, also in shovels, although you can still fair well in all of these things without expending gold, just not always as well as you will with gold expenditure.

Unfortunately, if, like I do, you LOVE doing missions and have a competitive streak and if, like I do, you get a certain amount of enjoyment in progressing through the ranks faster than the general opposition (there's that competitive streak again... with all the streaking, I hope I don't get arrested), well I'm sorry but you won't do as well without gold, generally speaking. This is where the imbalance comes in.

I have to agree with others that no one who can't afford to use them or can only use them a little bit wants to be constantly reminded of the fact by these glaring Towers of Babel that preside over the farm. Some of these things would be much better off in the village instead.

That was well said short. Although i do hate the fact that the younger players in my co op feel like they shouldn't be in the game because of the gap. It would be nice to somehow, even rarely, to get extra gold. I understand they have forum games too that allow you to win gold. I don't know if they do check out the forums. Which is also not GGS fault. Maybe a message to the whole community that there will be games like this, more often would be even better. Even if it were to get 500 gold. When you are saving up to "buy" something, that would definitely help get those players to the "extra" they would like to have

Well said Undertaker, I have that extra respect for players that are willing to compete with others in missions on a level playing field! It makes the competition more strategic and less gold based :D

Putting all these golder options like the library, the deco tower, and the gold mine away into the village is a great idea. That way I can choose to view and possibly buy these things when I want to rather than having it force fed to me by avatars taking up half the page.

I'll go and get my Swiss Army Knife, so I can put a point on this club I have here..... :)
Just kidding... each to his own, live and let live and all that but only because it's you, Ezio! :D

Even so, there are other things I'd rather see there, such as more farm land, for example.... and maybe the farm camel, so that I can ride it into the village whenever the urge takes me...

*Loads shotgun* Oh you were kidding? *puts it away* :D:D More farm land would be nice for two reasons

1)It gives high level players something to do
2)It could possibly lower the price for the current land for lower level players :)

It will be a good idea to accuse those having a temper tantrum about the ** correct ** thing Ms Short. The fact is, its not about GGS introducing gold buildings and fields. Its about being ripped off about the architect, upgrading fileds and barns to the highest level over the last few months, without the developers informing us of these upcoming much better gold buildings and fields. That was gold spending that has quickly become redundant. That is what all the temper tantrums are about. If they are even temper tantrums, that is your description of a different viewpoint to your own, and very emotive, negative connotation words you use. I'd call it polite expressions of warranted anger.

Am tired of it's not fair it's not fair it's not fair!!!!! Life is not fair! Am just glad a few of us older folks.......that have the means will still support this game. I don't spend a lot on it.......but don't have a fit about it. Buy your way to the TOP.........the top of WHAT? In our co-op shovels n gold spending don't mean a thing as we work as a team on projects. We don't have the I didn't get good grades because my teacher didn't like me or didn't get to play cause coach didn't like me. When you leave home you can't have what mom and dad had without earning it! So for now can only offer a little cheese with that whine!

Short left me out on that long reply. Which is probably a good thing.

I just want to say again, this game is great. There is plenty here to do so things your not too thrilled with you can just ignore. Thank you all for that.

As for comments about the gold users vs the no gold users, again... I know I've said this a few times, but again...

Gold is too easy to lose here. NOT on what you want to spend it on. But stupid stuff like replanting a special crop not noticing the TEENY TINY print saying you don't have any left. Poof gold gone.

or click the wrong spot on the screen while a house or something is upgrading and poof, gone.

I keep some "mad money" in my pay pal account. I sell some crafts on line and when the shop fees, pay pal fees, shipping fees, supplies are all paid for, I keep some mad money just for fun stuff for me. So I'd be more than willing to charge up all three of my farms so when I want it, it's there.

But.... when one gets on a roller coaster, one better have their loose change in a zippered pocket or it gets shook loose. so the only answer is either secure your money, or don't bring it on the ride.

Until they come up with a way to keep the money secure so it's only spent on stuff I really want to spend it on, it's just better to leave it off the ride. NO matter what upgrades you come up with.
I really do wish you all would fix that. Either a lock your gold, or a second prompt before you actually spend it, or something. Be a whole lot less whining here about lost gold and I bet you make more in the process.

Anyway, upgrades. There will always be people who don't like change. No matter what it is. I'm sure the admins know this.
but.... I love it. Can't wait to see what they do with the gourmet farm. Lots of creative room to grow there.

And what ever happened with the fourth farm ideas???? Hmmmmm?
    Fish farm?
    Horse ranch?
Petting zoo? Complete with hay rides? Pony rides? Lots of requests for horses.
    Whatcha got in mind?

As for spending, I actually got hooked on Galaxy. Just put ten bucks on that one even though it's in the announcements there that they will no longer be working on the game.
So yea, I will part with money on certain things. At least there it's a little more obvious when you are about to spend it.

I know I'm repeating myself but, "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH, SOMEONE HAS TO PAY".
I fall into the non gold player class, it's those who put up their hard cash that keep our farms going, the only advantage gold v non gold in my case is doing missions or the rankings, I'm not worried about being ranked No.1, it's not going to happen, so no point fretting about it.
As for missions, I haven't done a mission since it was removed from "chicken or the egg" project, for me it's a waste of time & effort.
As I can't buy my way to the top, I just have to work harder & smarter, I like a lot of players on the Australian server have gone down no decorations on my main farm path, in favour of mass production.
    Happy Farming

George, I know you said you stopped doing missions but here's a tip if you're interested:

If you enter every mission you can but don't actually do anything in them, the result will be that you lose your Rep pts (no loss there for you, as you don't play them anyway) but even coming last all the time, you will still gain a small amount of farm$ and XP. In my mind, you may as well just do that so that you get the small benefit of doing it rather than do nothing at all and gain nothing.

    Just a thought.

OMG! It is so unbelievably weird that you should write that!! Believe or not I meant to put you in that post because as one who has suffered the accidental gold spend on several occasions (many have I'm sure) I think the idea for a gold lock is really brilliant! And if not a confirmation message would be acceptable. Talk about a big let down when you lose gold you need to!! How odd, I was so sure I mention that! To much writing I guess!
Wow......... That's a huge post. Kat, can you ban her for using up too much space? Jk :D

Actually, I believe there is a broader range of subjects in this thread and not isolated to just that one. In fact, several replies here state the dislike about the new gold cost buildings, as well as many other threads and I'm not sure if I saw anything about the architect here. I am unclear as to where you're coming from. However, the opinion I expressed "To me, it just comes off as a temper tantrum!", was more about how so often, when something comes out and it has do with gold it seems that the complaint always ends up being 'more benefits for the gold users but not the non-golders' or something similar. I just think the automatic division of the two, whenever something gold related comes up is poor and inaccurate complaint that disgruntled players throw out there. Except for missions. I do feel that there is a high level of unfairness between gold users and non-golders. As for "I'd call it polite expressions of warranted anger." If you say so!
Glad so many found this a pretty good read! I wasn't sure what to expect. You are all to be commended for taking the time to check this out! Hope you had a bottle of eye drops handy afterwards! LOL

I have to add my dissent here. I'm still a newbie and I really don't like features that require gold spending.

This fertile field idea is terrible. If it had been around when I came across Bigfarm I wouldn't have stuck with it. It's blatant, ugly discrimination, and if management is demanding more incentives to spend gold, management would do well to care more about maintaining an attractive atmosphere for beginners.

Bad juju, guys; very bad juju.

I tend to read rather than comment on these debates, mostly so that I can keep my coop informed on what's coming up; but I feel the need to comment on this one.

GGS need to seriously take the tone of this debate to heart - if you read back to some of the earliest threads responding to updates people were predominantly positive and excited about new things. Those same people are getting more and more negative and disillusioned with the game and the focus on making money out of us.

I have to say that I have a budget for playing games and GGS already get it all - there is no point in bringing in new features for me to spend gold on - I will not earn any more as a result - you have what I can afford to give you, you need to stop being so greedy or I'll go spend it elsewhere.

I also find it frustrating as a strategy game when I look at everything available, plan a strategy, implement it and then the things available change significantly - new buildings and decs come out which make my strategy useless. I know you want to keep the bigger players interested, but surely a fairer way to do that is to keep the farms we have pretty much as they are and if you want to be money grabbing, design a "gold" farm for people who can afford to spend money like water to compete against each other, then the rest of us can go on playing the other farms and ignore it without getting fed up.

    Rant over!

I have to admit i am disappointed by the deco tower. I think it would be nice if we could move our deco's from one farm to another and i though this update would give us that option. GG should really consider letting us move our deco's from one farm to the other, however i know i will be disappointed because they will push the "BUY GOLD" thing and allow us to move our deco's if we pay the right amount of gold.

how can the non gold buyers even compete when you make EVERYTHING that is worth having, something you have to buy with gold?

don't get me wrong...i have bought gold in the past and when i can afford it I will buy more gold. However i think it is completely unfair to give the gold buyers that much of advantage over the non gold buyers. i don't think it is too much to ask for some added benefits go to the non gold buyers once in a while. For example when we spin the wheal don't give us a worthless deco that will sit in our storage because we can simply buy it (i have 4 that are in my storage that are worthless to me). Is it really too much to ask that once in a while (i'm not saying every time) but once in a while we get a good deco out of our free spin or some special feed.

Hello all! I actually am excited about the Gold fields albiet a little dissapointed that i upgraded my fields and now am bulldozing them down. to be a goldie or not be a goldie that is the question...I am a gold spender....cannot help it.This game has me hooked. I love it. I think that you all do a wonderful job and I will support you in it. A job well done and you deserve to be paid for your efforts. However there should also be a gold lock ! especially when your customers keep asking for one and i think we deserve that respect...thanks all! happy farming

I don't have any problems for "gold" updates. Just little farms will change gameplay, soon you will need to bring not 100 items in event's but 400, because game mechanizm will go in same direction with newest updates. No one want to live in game.

    Whining, whining, whining!
I am tired of the whining. If you don't want to use gold fine, don't use it. No one has to use gold. No one has demanded gold!

Don't trash GGS. Someone writes the programs, someone takes care of the servers, someone plans the missions and decor and the farms, someone debugs it all. Should they not be paid for doing their jobs? Who out there goes to work every day and doesn't expect a paycheck?

I like to read. I try to spend the cost of one book on the game each month. The last few months I haven't been able to. No one asked me to quit the game.

This is FREE entertainment. If you can't or won't spend gold that has been accepted in this game, stop whining because some else can and has used "real" money to buy gold.
If this is so unfair to you go turn on the TV!

Thank you GGS for the entertainment! kdemun

Undertaker, is this true? If you come in last in the missions, you still get money and XP? But, don't you have to have RP's to even start the missions?

I like to read. I try to spend the cost of one book on the game each month. The last few months I haven't been able to. No one asked me to quit the game.

This is FREE entertainment. If you can't or won't spend gold that has been accepted in this game, stop whining because some else can and has used "real" money to buy gold.
If this is so unfair to you go turn on the TV!

Thank you GGS for the entertainment! kdemun

What would anyone's opinion considered as whining? Just because it is different from yours? All people are free to say what they think about the updates. I can't speak for others but for me personly it is not the gold updates that bothers me, GGS can make as much gold updates as they can cause I understand they need to make money. The only thing that bothers me is the promises we get every time that next update will be something from which all players can benefit.
