Gold only content

Adding all this gold only content is a sure fire way to lose players and not bring in new players.Games like this are largely word of mouth and free players will bring in a lot of your new players. When most of the "new" content is strictly gold only or you aren't included your free players will say byebye ;( At least with the pet dog free players were somewhat included. Fair enough if you wanted to you could spend gold and get a bit better version , change colors , etc.

Free to play games that get big and continue to grow and last almost always do this >> Most "gold only" products in those games give slight stat bonuses and sell "skins" aka cosmetic changes for profits. Its pretty simple if you make the gap too big between free players and pay players soon all you have is a few gold players left and said game dies :S Its pretty hard to tell your buddies hey come play this free game but if you want to have some fun get ready to fork out a bunch of cash lol ?(

Free players do fork out small amounts of gold when they can and bring in a lot of your playerbase 8) I think I've spent around $40-50 USD and at this point can't see myself spending anymore.

I share your concerns. The whole process hastens because perhaps a subset of players (and I am one of these) sense the game is starting to demise and don't spend money that they could spend. Its not a good idea to buy virtual decorations that you might not get to keep long.

I also strongly resent that the prettiest decorations are only available indirectly. The one with tree next to the creek, if you do the prime time deal, and the hammock and scarecrow ones if you spend enormous amounts of real money on tokens for the low odds gambling wheel. If they were a set amount of gold, purchased like the blue tractor, or even during events like the koi pond, I would have purchased them. At least, I would have if they had appeared before the demise became obvious to me.

Yes and it makes me wonder what is in store for us next year with the new missions revamp? Perhaps "Spend 200 gold and get 1 point in the mission." or "Get the Golden Shovel by golding the hell out of everything that moves... if it doesn't move; push it. Each time you get the golden shovel gives you one point in the mission." I'm being a fair bit tongue in cheek with this of course but I'm sure they will understand what I'm getting at... besides, tongue in cheek is one thing we Aussies do a fair bit of.

I also hope the fourth farm doesn't require basic buildings on it to be levelled up with gold (assuming we ever get it).

... and yes, I've bought the last gold I'll ever buy too unless this downward spiral doesn't stop. I still haven't bought blue barns and I flatly refuse to on principle.
