I can't tell you many posts I have read, accusing GoodGame Studios of not using ideas given from players, not addressing issues players complain about, not listening or caring about the players or that they only care about selling gold. I had always believed these accusations to be grossly inaccurate and pretty unfair. And after recent events well, I stand more firmly next to that belief. Here's why.

Steve was made available on Saturday (I think that's the right day) but was quickly gone. Sunday a player posted claiming that Steve's availability was far to short of a time (agreed) and made a plea for longer architect events. Even though it was still a brief event, Steve WAS made available again the next day.

On the first of the month I posted in the forums imploring GG developers for a Prime Time deal. I have done many times and quite few of those times the deal had had been offered a few hours later. Shortly after my new post, one was offered! But wouldn't you know! I had a problem on my end having the wrong kind of card and missed it! Anyway I finally had the right card at hand and now it was a matter of waiting. However, after reading a sincere reply to my post from another player I couldn't help but pour my heart out about what had happened. Hopefully I haven't scared this individual away from ever replying to me again. ^^ It was nothing more than me just sharing my day but guess what? Another Prime Time was offered in the evening! Then one came up a few hours ago! Both, which I was gleefully able to take advantage of!

In post #7 of this thread http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/showthread.php?76181-It-s-your-Birthday.....
I suggest that the Birthday prize have something to do with Big Farm's Logo. Ironically enough their flag proudly sports the BF apple. BTW GG, it was beautifully done.

There could be one other example but I could not swear by because all I remember of the suggestion was that it have to do with going to the beach. We just had the Aloha event in a place of sand and sun but I am unsure of any connection and this may just need to be crossed off the list. If someone has any clarification about this one way or the other, don't hesitate to share.

Now, I certainly know that what we're looking here could be coincidental and that I may have just wasted a lot of space, just to get to the primary point of this post. But I would say the odds are in their favor!

Since I am a big believer of giving praise where it is due as well as sharing my gratefulness for what I have received. I had asked for Prime Times and they were there. Realistically, I can't be sure these Prime Times have anything to do with me or if there is any connection to any of this. This is where my big belief of playing safe rather then sorry comes in. Thank you GoodGame developers! I appreciate that Prime Time deals were made available after requesting them. I appreciate your help to get me more for my money. I feel that you really are dedicated and true to you gamers!

Let's put this to a test, shall we? So GG, if I was to ask for a highly sought after architect, that we players just can't get enough to stop by possibly in the next day or so. What would you say?

Love you GG! Have a good one!

I am with you Short79. GG does listen, whether there is a connection with your requesting a prime time I am not sure, but you never know :) So everyone keep adding your suggestions and requests.

    Heyhey,

I have even more news for you!

We finally found the problem that is causing events to not show up for some players.
Unfortunately we cannot fix this problem today, but it will be fixed with tomorrow's update.

Since Steve noticed not visiting everybody at the same time was not a fair thing to do, he wants you to know that he moved some appointments around in his calendar in order to be able to visit you again soon.
He's now planning to drop by on Sunday, December 8th around 11am CET and will stay until 8pm CET.

Be sure to have some coffee prepared for him, cause he is determined to get some work done and we're sure he could use it. :)

We would like to thank you for your patience and apologize for all the inconveniences caused.

    Regards,
    your Big Farm team.

Ummmmmm....None of these other posts seem to have much to do with the subject thread. Perhaps the replies are in the wrong place...or did I miss something?

I am so glad to have brightened your day, Kat! I'm started to feel a little spoiled by GG, getting everything I want! LOL! And I am so pleased to have the CMs read this! That is really neat! Thank you, Kat! You're the best!

Short79, Thanks for brightening my day...it is wonderful to read some positive and praise. I think it is great that you shared some possible results of treating GGS with respect & kindness...so refreshing.

Coincidental? Well, I'm going to vote "not a coincidence" :p but that GGS is responding in kind to those that have sincere ideas and present them with maturity.

    Thanks for the thread.

btw, is there a thread where the positive people discuss their favorite aspects of the game? I am asking seriously...if there is one, please let me know. I have such fun playing this, lol...especially when we have a blizzard warning outside :D

Sandy, I'm not aware of a thread with the topic you're talking about sorry, but you can start one. If you do it in Entertainment, then you won't have to worry about it being strictly on topic as much as you would if it was in the Suggestions forum. I'd happily join in a thread like that. :)

Short, you deserve to be spoiled I'm sure! :D

Sandy- I am really glad you enjoyed my thread! I most certainly loved writing it. It seems the negativity towards GoodGame is quite unwarranted and unfair. And when I read the ABOUT section of the web page, where it tells about the team and their work environment I feel even more convinced that they are decent people. It sounds like they are an excellent gaming company and true, it could be pretty words but I'm happy to believe what I have read.
As for a thread about favorites in Big Farm, I have not seen one but I'm with Kat! I will definitely join in on that myself. Or I'll start one if you like. And the Mods are really good about keeping the threads clean and respectful so positive shouldn't be a problem. Just make it clear that people are to share their favorites not comment of other favorites. Hopefully others will follow the rules.

    Kat-Thank you!

Undertaker-Perhaps they read my mind! LOL! Well, I'll just give it a shot in a week or so see what happens!:D

    Short & Kat,
Well I started a thread (gulp...) I put it in the Entertainment as Kat suggested. Thanks. I don't know how to copy or embed a link or whether that would be appropriate. I titled it "A Few of Our Favorite Things" lol, not the musical...you really don't want to hear me sing.

Hahahaha! I had a silly thought! Perhaps a favorites thing thread might be more appropriately called "Do you like apples" as it just might be filled with the response "apples". Know what I mean? LOL! Anyway, I'll be visiting as soon as I can and I think you picked an excellent title, Sandy. For the record, you don't want me singing either. ;-)

While we sadly can't take every single request into consideration (we would be running Prime Times, Steve and Events 24/7 then) we'll do what we can to make you guys happy :)
  • edited 06.12.2013
What's wrong with Prime Times, Steve and Events 24/7, Latten? (He said tongue in cheek). Nah, even I would find that too easy and boring then. Steve more often, however? That would be good.

How about instead of Prime Times, GGS just adds that 50% more gold as a regular amount with the same purchase price? Then they wouldn't have to bother with deals anymore. Ahhh to dream...

But without a doubt, Steve NEEDS to be around once a week at least! Even Benny has been around more then Steve, and I have no idea how often players make use of his deals. I find it hard to imagine it more then Steve...well, if he was around as often as Benny that is. Boo...frustrating deal this architect event...X( Ahhh well, guess every game needs a "just out of reach" aspect so to speak.

Well, there's my 2 cents worth of nonsense on the subject. Farm on! 8)
  • edited 02.01.2014
Hmmm... Short, you are starting to sound more and more like I do every day!! That, of course, is a compliment!

The frustration factor is what makes Steve so successful for GGS' coffers of course. By making the extra two levels for many buildings and fields, plus making the final level an Architect level, they created the additional need to develop further so that the Arms Race continued. Additionally, because of Steve's shyness and failure to announce his presence with a Mariachi band, 2 elephants and 10 jugglers, and his equal reticence to advise his E.T.D. (Estimated Time of Departure, for those who don't know), he puts pressure on us to use our gold to skip production when he is there, both skipping the existing production we are doing when he arrives unannounced and also skipping the final Architect production so that we get more than just the one or two buildings done each month.

Happy New Year to all my readers!!

LOL! Undertaker! And a complimrnt I will take it as! You totally crack me up with your amazing mix of irritation and humor! Well that's what I see when reading your wonderful posts an replies. I wasn't kidding when I mentioned that you had an intelligent way of writing. I feel like you have this great ability of blending your annoyance with jokes. Something like " D*** you! You are really getting on my nerves but it's really a funny thing..." Now understand that I am in no way assuming I am right or that this is even a description of your character. What I'm trying to say is this is how I feel when I read these posts. Basically I think, "How does Undertaker do it? Feeling this aggravated but still able to joke about it." I totally hope this doesn't seem insulting to you. I honestly admire you! There are times I say what I want regardless of what people think. But the majority of the time, I just explained myself very badly, without meaning to!
Anyhow, I can't tell you how much I fear that Steve will come while I' in the process of an upgrade. I have to be frugal with my gold so, I don't use it on speed ups. Wouldn't it it be interesting to know just how successful, this event really is. Maybe it's total flop...hahahahaha I made a joke! The architect event is definitely unlikable and a very complainable thing about Big Farm. You know, a marching band, a following circus, someone certainly has the right idea. Add a plane that sky writes Steve's quitting time...and it would make you more lovable, GGS. But I imagine you do need to make your money...why oh why on such an awesome feature though... ;( Heartbreakers!

No, that's fine, Short... you haven't insulted me and I do take what you are saying as a compliment... it IS what I attempt to do: a mixture of humour and vitriol so that the humour turns down the heat a little on what I say. Parts of the game are very frustrating but having said that, the vast majority of the game is very enjoyable. If I didn't think that, I would have left ages ago to become one of the jugglers, or perhaps The Fat Lady's personal ****.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! OMG, OMG! I read this comment before this *cough unfortunate-I mean most appropriate edit and about died laughing! Then I spent the rest of that day chuckling about it. So I came back to get another laugh and now....ohhhh it is just all the more hilarious!!! I can't even catch my breath. This is just too FUNNY! Oh Undertaker! That truly is just so wrong on so many levels! LMAO! I would hope that the pay would be very good for...errrr...this particular form of employment!

I believe it would be much more lucrative than undertaking, I can tell you that much!

I have not replied or been back on the forum for several days due to a self-imposed exile because I have been a naughty boy!! Kat, you obviously are a woman of the world, knowing what a **** is? (My **** this time, not yours). I do have to say that the only P.C.'s I know of are Personal Computers and Police Constables... certainly don't know the meaning of "Politically Correct". :)

Anyway... back on thread now... Yes, GGS does listen but sometimes I feel that many of the decisions are made in favour of what is suggested only if it also suits their financial situation.

If you apply for the position, just don't get squashed!!

Re Steve, hopefully GGS will listen when I say that a "Steve leaving soon... last drinks.." warning just before he goes would be good, that way we can quickly gold off the current thing that Steve is working on in order to then start production on another thing that requires a long time to upgrade (most of Steve's things he upgrades are in this order). GGS then gets some of our gold off us and we get an extra thing upgraded. Win/win situation.

That...is an excellent idea! And it seems like a great compromise! Players get a warning that Steve will leave soon but the time he leaves can vary so, it still remains vague as to when he is actually going to depart! GGS can keep their aura of mystery. It would be nice if they would go for that. Do you have your idea in it's own thread, so it's not missed. You know just in case they decide to...listen?
