Suggestion: Option to Upgrade Decorations

NissePluttNissePlutt Posts: 14
I think we should be able to upgrade decors in the same way we can upgrade building, acres and all the other things.
I think it is way to much decor on our farms...

And i also think that we should be able to buy more "happy valuable" decors than those we can buy right now... The highest is 38 in happiness (the sea)... It is time to invent newer decors so we can trade older "not so happy" decors to the one's with more happiness

:p

I could be wrong but I think one reason this hasn't been officially brought up is because part of the challenge is having to spare the land on your farm for deco or just work with higher running costs. I suspect if decos were to be much smaller/fewer they might have had put in less land tiles in first place?

keep in mind there are 50+ happiness decos to be had once in a while on the other hand ;)

Speaking of upgrading buildings, I haven't seen the architect for almost a week! Has he not come back at all, or is he showing up in the middle of the night?

From the official The Architect - Update 09.09.2013 thread
But beware, it is only for a short time, and he is very busy so appear relatively rarely
Bold mine. So if he appears relatively rarely it is not surprising you haven't seen him again yet

There's been no further comment on The Architect thread since he appeared 3 times on the first day, so I'm pretty sure he hasn't come back.

There's rare and there's rare tho - it will be nice to get a handle on whether he appears about once a week, once a month or once a year.

I would LOVE the idea of upgrading decor. It does not have to make the thing take up more tile space either. Just alter the graphic, and function.

Take flowers. How about an upgrade and suddenly they have roses and happiness of 15. Upgrade again and the roses are growing up on arbors with happiness of 25.

    Like that.

I'd also LOVE to see some 2x2 tile decor. Even if it's hapiness value is very small. Be something to fill those annoying tiny spaces left in my farm.

Yes, as simple as that! There are some decorations that I dearly love, but I had to put them to store, as they were of low value and with the farm growing I needed higher value decos. I miss my vegetable patches, my meadows or big ornamental trees or duck ponds - and at the same time I am sick and tired of looking at several tea gardens or magical fairy tale towers or those naff pandas... So how about being able to somehow upgrade the value ONLY of those decos that we like, they don't have to start looking differently, just give more happiness. Perhaps we could pay for those upgrades with dollars, or other currency used in this game (seashells, horseshoes, tools - you name it) or even for a really high value with some gold... Or the option of upgrading your existing decos could be a prize for finishing the event, instead of tenth giant waterfall... How about it, GGS? It shouldn't be too difficult to implement, should it? 8)

I think we are all tired of the same old decos. But sadly, the company seems to only come out with new decos to entice players into spending or buying gold in order to get something different on their farms. :(

I like this idea a lot. I'm still stubbornly clinging to some of the simpler and more natural decos.

I agree completely, freerange. Why can't we have some high happiness value decos that look like they belong on a farm?

I came to the forum specifically to suggest this very thing but saw your post first. I would love if we were able to do this! I agree I miss my meadows and trees but can't afford to keep them out. Upgrading our decos would really be helpful to higher level players who have maxed out their expansions too.

An alternate reward for completing the events could be you may choose a decoration you already have and it gains in value, for example a thicket gains 40 happiness for the hardest, and less happiness scaled down for the other difficulty levels of the event.

Thank you, fellow farmers! :) I just hope that GGS will take notice and implement it, it would be just great! :)

Good idea. In addition, I think they should make the Holiday Decos, which, lets face it are average... be worth double for the month of the holiday only. That way, like in real life... in December, you can put up your Xmas tree... etc. Then take it down in Jan.

Elunia13 I like that idea from you because there are some decorations i rather do not want to have in my garbage bin but they bring the hapiness that we need. Also it makes more sence that the deco,s are more related to a farm. I never have seen in my live 54 years now a farm with a waterslide and a oasis of idleness, however i live in the south of spain. Why not for example the max level of the cow, piggies etc give them also for example 25 hapiness that makes it more fun to look at it. I like the game a lot but i like it more with more realistic deco,s

How about an option to pay to upgrade existing decorations especially when you have bought all your land. Would then be able to buy more fields etc

I was also thinking of why there are no upgrades for the deco's we allready heave.
    If there are no upgrades...
Then why say that a deco is Level 1.
It would be nice if you could upgrade it to a Level 2 or...
  • edited 23.11.2014
THe upgradable deco is not currently planned, but i'm sure ggs will add the upgradeable in the future update :)

I would love that! Then I could use my veggie patches again, and they haybales. Those are so lovely, but little happies.

count me in, it's sad that the hay bales, which truly belong on a farm, are the lowest of the low in HP.... I want to keep my veggie gardens and hay bales and pile o goods.... not sand castles and viking ships, please : )
not to offend sand castles and viking ships, but this is a farm game, and they are not exactly conventional farm decorations
maybe we can have an amusement park farm where they would fit, in future?

I like the decorations they have now. They put alot of work in trying to make this game a fun and enjoyable experience. The decorations are perfectly fine.

Keep up the good work Big Farm!

I don't think anyone is suggesting you have to change your decorations. If you are happy with them, that's great.

What is being suggested is that a choice be given to use old decorations which would be upgradable, providing more happiness at higher levels, but they keep their old appearance. It then becomes a matter of personal taste what is viewed, without compromising the functionality of the farms.

Thanks, Pameow, of course that is exactly what I am suggesting and I thought it was clear enough from my original post... :)

I wish GGS would implement this, but unfortunately they remain silent regarding this marvellous idea of mine... ;)

I like your ideal, would love to have my clothesline out & the other things that belong on a farm. but can't because of the happiness value. Also wish they would make the decos, from the island in smaller size for the ones for the farms, they are so big hard to fit them in. It would be great to be able to upgrade our decos. just like we do the rest of the stuff on the farm. I have taken a corner or part of my farms & put the decorations from events & such that don't belong on a farm & made a little comunity of them on my farms so they don't look so out of place.

Also--How about having some color options for the buildings. We have a member that would dearly love to add pink to her barn. And perhaps flowers to the fence. As a option could be either gold or $$ depending on the thoughts of the game meisters.

Agreed! We should have an option to upgrade current decorations. It would be cheaper than constantly buying new ones.

More GGS "bugs" then and i suppose if they implement it, the top 3 levels will be gold usage !

Yep and the only way you will be able to view them is to "refresh reload ctrl f5 delete/clean/clear your caches, flash and browsers".
