I couldn't agree more!! Please add more space. Also please bring back the option to cut & paste from the PM's. It is also super frustrating when you just get done typing something in the chat box, the POOF it disappears.. I know I'm not the only one that this has happened to.

We can cut and paste from PMs now ^^ Luckily that is solved without the workaround even. You can just go ahead and select.

That does not take away that we are still very limited in the messages we can send though :( And I need to delete at least one word from my text in the chat when I hit the limit, when I hit enter without doing that it is gone - not posted and not waiting for send :(

    Hi team,
I just wanted to inform you
that the word limit in the private messages and in chat is too less

Its not at all enough to explain things about the farm to other players..

I request you to increase this word limit

    Regards,
    Farmer

Here here. I agree. There is never enough room to say what you want to say in the message. You need to send at least 2 or 3 messages to say everything.

i think most every player will agree with that. i know i will. just not enough room in one message to explain how to do any thing. i know our new members get fustrated because they try to explain where they need help and it takes 2 or 3 messages for them to explain and it takes us that many or more to explain it to them. it would be so nice if the limit was larger

Totally agree. Sometimes, answering questions is more of a chore than it needs to be, because you have to send multiple messages. And for those that are a bit forgetful, you have to return to the original message several times to ensure you answered all the questions.

My guess is the short message length is due to storage. Messages are kept on a different/smaller portion of the server, so they want to minimize the size. But the chosen message length is prohibiting a part of the co-ops that could be really helpful, instead of irritating.

If the game would get slower because of us able to have longer messages, I'll keep piddling with multiple messages.

Longer messages increase the amaount of data we have to save, send, load and keep until deleted, which could potentially lower performance. That's why we probably won't be able to extend the limit further. :(

Maybe it could help a little for saving the amount of data, if you totaly remove that stupid censor... it's doing more bad works than good works!

I personally think this excuse is hogwash. The mail doesn't have formatting of any kind, and no images, sounds, etc. It's the smallest amount of data in the entire game.

Here's an idea. I bet if the code was cleaned up, so there are fewer bugs, that alone would probably provide a lot of extra storage space.

I don't play the horse ranch and those images alone probably take up more space and load time than my entire inbox. Text always loads the fastest. That huge airport is another hog of load time. I've only played the viking farm the very first time it made its debut, because I was tricked into playing it. Yeah, I don't get a full ship each time, but since I have no interest in the horses, I really don't care. Get rid of those images. Maybe just making them smaller would help.

Plain text is always the easiest and fastest data to move, load, store, and load. I don't see any messages but the one I'm reading or writing being displayed simultaneously. So there really wouldn't be a noticeable lag, if any at all.

I think an increase in message size should be reasonable. Of course, allowing people to write novels would be a horrendous waste of time and be a burden to store. But a small increase in message size would be beneficial to everyone. Besides, the minimal message size now causes some people to repeat what they say in messages, because they can't easily return to the old message to refresh their memories. I've done this myself - can't even see all the details of the message I am replying to without starting over. Nor can I paste it into the body of the reply to refer to, because, then, you guessed it, hit the character limit before I can even add a word in reply.

In the year 2015, I never would have thought someone would actually use that 1980's excuse of plain text being slow, in such miniscule amounts. Even worse is there are people that would actually swallow that lame cop out because they don't know and defer to the "experts", believing whatever they say. Instead of just stating the truth that the mail system doesn't earn money, so it is and always will be irrelevant to this company. It works good enough, so we are supposed to be happy with it and appreciative.

Now, get back to buying and spending the gold.

Please could we have more room for longer messages, there is not enough "lineage" for either in game instructions or more personal messages. It is ok shortening the Event requirements, but we cannot do it with every message.

I know this has been requested elsewhere, but its too late to look for it and I am sure a forum moderator will move it for me, and then I will not find it again.

One more annoying aspect of the in-game chat is when I log on and scroll to the beginning, every time someone adds to chat the cursor defaults back to last message, making it impossible to read. Can you figure a way to stop this?

Yes! I agree entirely WendyGirl. Seriously annoying.
Put the little red exclamation mark on so I know that there is something new but please leave me where I am!!!

I can't change the ingame mechanics for that ofcourse, since I'm also just a player, all I have is a way around it that helps for me.

    - Place cursor in chatfield
    - Use Ctrl+a to select everything
    - Paste in word or something similar, to easily read back

    It's no solution, but it's a usefull band-aid.

we ran out of fingers long ago but add me to the list. This can't be a difficult thing to do. Simply increase the character limit.

I have just caught up with this.. and to see the excuse for not making the messages longer is due to the amount of data ! and a reply of "hogwash" I have never heard as much rubbish, except on here. So if we send 3 messages instead of just 1 longer message, that is going to save on data ! hmmmm . Has anybody else noticed that almost whatever players suggest GGS have some answer ( usually causing a laugh ) of why not to do it ! Players want longer messages so that we can help other players to PLAY Big Farm, yet GGS say it would use up too much data, yet they can do 3, 4, 5 sale pop ups per hour and run 2 - 3 "events" at the same time ! I am sure I know which uses up the most data.
Coincidently I was looking through the cookies etc on the computer the other day and upon loading Big farm i was astounded at the amount of data/files/cookies from big farm, every single item, every deco, building etc had its own file/cookie. Next time I look I'll do a screen shot and post it on here. there were pages and pages just from Big Farm.
  • L.S.,

Can we please have some more characters allowed in the e-mails. Writing coop messages is crap now because i always have to cut down the text because it is too "long" ??
It is hard to explain something in the game to your coop if your only allowed e-mails of 10 letters or something....

    Kind regards,
    Whis.

That's right. I must use all my text condensing skills when writing anything in game.:)

Although I'd also like to se private real life chat with team mates and other players. Sorting out some things through mail or on team chat is often very clumsy.

If groups return on forum you can say it all on there. There is no limit on forum and groups are a good way to get in contact with a couple of players in a separate chat. You can start different threads about different things so you can keep each other updated on there.

I'll see when the groups open. But I don't think forums can ever replace real life direct communication in group or private chat window.

Also, when you send group message to all team mates, they can see it immediatelly after logging in the game. Forum messages, as far as I know, have no direct signaling to the game. So again, can't replace it. Can complement other means of communication, but not effectively replace it.

You are absolutely right so long as all members of the co-op use the forum. In our co-op this is definitely not the case. Better in-game communication would be very welcome.
  • A forum is nice, but serves a completely different purpose. Most of our members never read anything on the forum, where everyone reads the mails.
So longer mail text would be very welcome.

Thank you everyone you all have been very helpful to me as why I cant write my letters to say how people have done in the missions/tasks. I have found it very frustrating and I do not want to send 2 or 3 emails at a time to give the same info.

Plz ggs can this plz be fixed.

  • another vote there! count me in
yes i agree; and there shud be longer messages in chat box too

As you can see from the date of the opening post in this thread, more space in messages and chat have been asked for for 3 years now. If it was gonna happen, it would have happened by now.  :)
  • add one more vote to it......yes we needs longer msgs

    remove the limit

They are too busy adding bugs or ways to sell/use gold to bother about what players request, It took one co-op member 6 msgs to say what they needed to say, I then lost some messages that I had "saved" Did I notice a few maintenance shut downs today.. on a Friday ! ! so now if any "bugs" they'll have to wait until next week. :)   :)
The forums although helpful at times they are just a way for GGS to deflect the complaints or criticism, the replies will be it was on the forum ! we told you on the forum
