Why haven't you joined a coop?
I am also interested in hearing from players that were in a coop and left and haven't rejoined - why? [Please don't name coops, this is for research purposes only].

I didn't know if I would ever join a co-op, but I was open to it. I did decide to join because I found one that fit really well with what I wanted out of a co-op.
I have played other farming type games, and I was really burned out on having to deal with neighbors. Needing 500 neighbors, having to visit them, begging for things. So, when I found this game I liked and still do the more relaxed interactions with people (with the exception of missions :S ).
Some people have had bad experiences with co-op's, at least from what I read on here. And that is another reason I wasn't in a rush to join one.
I am very reluctant to get involved with a group project. I have done that in other games and had very frustrating experiences. I suffered insults and put-downs and the needless aggravation that comes from them. I started Big Farm in the hopes of playing alone and having no pressure. I get enough pressure in everyday life. I play a computer game to get away from pressure. Other farm games force you to have many "neighbors" and do a lot of posting and visiting their farms....loading up BIG sites on your computer one after the other. I fear it wears out the machine. The tasks or quests are often timed and the game tell you everything you must do and you have no freedom to chart your own course of success. I want to play at my own speed. I want to take a break of several days or weeks, if needed, and not be docked points or let a group of people down.
Then there is the business of having to go to the forums for information. Mostly you get a lot of useful, friendly replies but, also, you get some supercilious answers from players who seem to take the game very, very seriously. I consider it a game....an escape.....not my career. Then too, everyone has different and sometimes conflicting advice.
A nice website created by the developers with procedural explanations and a search box for specific problems would be so useful..... a source of answers with no opinions or attitude. We have only the forums and the info sources created by other players to rely on. The developers seem to have found ways to intertwine players and make us dependent on each other after all.
I would form my own co-op but hate to spend the gold (which is so hard to come by and so useful) on something I don't plan to use. I am at a low level so will continue to play and just see what happens. The time I spend on the tasks is too much but, it's all new and I am still in a reasonably good mood about the game.
Hope this is useful to your research.
I understand and can relate in many aspects.
IF you ever have questions about the game feel free to PM me in game or forum and I will do my best to answer that which I know, or find the answer to that which I don't readily know.
