cooperative cash donations

how does your cooperative decide the amount that is required for donations? how often do you donate researchers? how often do you do research? we are trying to come up with something that is fair for the group and are running into walls. any input is appreciated :)

I would say, especially for lower levels, sign up for the research before donating to the co-op accounts. You will need all members to sign up, while the starting fee could be donated by higher level members only.
The amount donated should imo be level dependent, but not fixed. You can ask more from higher levels than from lower levels, but lower levels should not donate nothing. We do not use fixed amounts but just leave it up to them to donate what they want. Is it too little in our opinion and not fair to the others? Then we send that member a message to please donate a bit more.
If somebody did not participate in the last research for whichever reason (too late, no money, not necessary that time) we would like to see them join at least the next research.
We try to run researches nearly back to back with one or two days rest period. Just like we feel it should be. Our members sometimes ask us what will be the next research or come up with a project they want to do.
It is no rocket science, but I think everybody understands that if a set of 5 members around level 40 donated in total around 2M and the 6th level 40 only 1M that the 6th should donate a bit more and the other 5 can donate a bit less. On the other hand, if that 6th member joined much later it is also not really fair to have them catch up with the rest so soon.
Concluding, I think it is something you should try to establish together with your members and it is some sort of gut feeling whether you think somebody participates in a fair way or not :)

thank you, that is what we have kind of fallen into and it seems to be workingmost of the time. we tried to come up with a way to say how much is enough and we gravitated to a set amount based on how much researchers cost - since that is level based. the confusion comes in because some players do not play as often. anyhoo, i look forward to what other co-ops have come up wth as a solution :)

What I am using for my coop now is a simple formula I have picked up somewhere in the forum. It is your level multiply by 1000$ and divide it in 2, so for my level it's 51x1000=51000$/2=25,500$. This is a daily amount to donate, and as we do our coop activities on weekdays only, we do not donate on weekends and there is no gold donation requirement. I think it works well, it takes your level into consideration and is very fair and easy to use. But it will not allow you to have research projects back to back, we have one research a week. I have also seen suggestion in the forum to multiply your level by 100$, but in my opinion it would be not enough and take forever to collect starting fund for a research.

Reading GirlAlexandra's post below (or above depending on your forum view), I must add that we got pretty lucky. We had a deputy that quit the game and donated millions of dollars before he left. And we also have another member that is earning loads on the farm and has millions available, so we do not really need to have everybody donate. I guess we're in kind of a luxury position regarding research ^^ And when we ask them to sign up, usually everybody has signed up within a day, while we set a maximum of 48 hours to sign up. If somebody does not sign up within that time we expect a message why not or they will get a message from us asking why not and they will be considered for removal sooner, dependent from their other behaviour in the co-op. Again the gut feeling. ^^

yeah i don't think we could ever run research back to back and once a week is a stretch for us. i like the equaton from above but am getting pushback on a researchers worth a week so i don't think that much daily would ever fly. but what happens is i end up donating most of the cash myself, wehich my arm suffers for. sigh.

I can understand that. I suppose you already made that clear to your co-op members? And have you already considered reviewing all your members and deciding on letting some go to get better ones? Perhaps you could ask one or all of your deputies to help you with that?

I mean, if members aren't doing anything and let you work for it, they do not really deserve to be in the co-op. And if they are good members they hear your story and jump in to help you, so you can work on your farm instead of throwing all your money into the co-op. ^^

yes, we've sent multiple emails out including at the very beginning when they agree to join. i guess they forget. or decide 4,000 a week is suffcient for a level 40 player??? i'm trying to get some feedback now. we had a cull of players about a month ago. i'm thinking a new round is in order. i jus thate to do it. oh well!

Yeah, I hate it as well. I'm glad my deputy is one of no mercy and forces me to do it. Well good luck with it and I hope soon things will turn out better for you! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do :)

thanks guys! i got replies here and in game and i appreciate it. i'm putting my foot down! we're sticking with donating a researcher or at least the cost of a researcher weekly. that way it scales by level. i'll keep tracking donations and i'll lay down the law. i can't do it all myself! if anyone else has suggestions feel free to post, i'm sure i'm not the only one who has struggled with this :)

How does one use the money that is donated. For example if I donate $100,000 cash can anyone use it to star a co-op Research project if so how is that done?

    Thanks

Not anyone. You also need to donate the researchers (so you need all your members to sign up) and then you use the starting fee from that donation you would have made. Only the leader or deputy(ies) can start the research. To learn more about donations and researches, check our website via the link in my signature below.

Thanks I have tried to start a couple ( I am the leader ) I have donated the cash ( to the research part)but can not get anyone else to help. The odd person has put in a donation of $100 bucks but that is it so I was going to try to add more cash as a donation to stat a research project without having to use my gold.

    Thanks for the help.

In the Success Team we don't really have rules for donating, we kinda do it the Larino way. Everybody donates as they see fit. Some day you just have done a big upgrade and you are a bit broke, but on other days you have plenty.

We also don't have a rule of donating daily or weekly. I personally try to donate daily, less easy to forget. I usually donate somewhere between 100k and 200k per day.
