upgrades and collection items

First of all let me say I love the new upgrades! I love being able to know what is going on with the 2nd and 3rd farm without having to pop over to them:)
I hate the collection items, the quantity and infrequency of them dropping! I spend real money on this game monthly and not just on my farm we also buy gold on my husbands farm. We love the co op projects but are now at a stand still because no one has enough collection items to start a project. My daughters farm has needed 3 more manpower for almost 3 weeks and it is not from lack of harvesting! I know it is a ploy to get everyone to spend gold but I refuse to pay gold for free items!!! I buy the gold to get decorations and expand but I am telling you if something doesn't change that will stop as well! X( Please don't give me the whole randomness of being random stuff because I don't believe that. I bought collections one time to start a project and will not do it again!

    Hi Sandi4848,

I'm sorry to hear you are not happy with the collectable drops, but it really is random. With each harvest there are varying percentages as to if an item will drop or not. It isn't about getting people to spend gold instead of waiting for them, but research should feel like an achievement for the co-operative, not something that you can demand to achieve.

It is unfortunately something that you will have to keep working for if you want to get it for free.

    Regards,
    Ethan

Yes, I agree that research should feel like an accomplishment, but the time it takes to get the collectables is very daunting. There is no reason it can't be speeded up a bit.

I think it is a good thing that collectables take a while to obtain, especially when you are needing the larger amounts - if the co-op members don't have that amount then it is possibly showing them and guiding them that they are just not ready for that project..

    That's my opinion though.

Also, it's a little bit of fun to try to see who can get it the quickest!

I have one lunch box which I required recently. Where is the fun in that??? I can understand it taking awhile to get them, but that is really ridiculous.

I do not see the fun in waiting weeks (still waiting)to get 3 man power...we work our farms constantly and still nothing. My entire co op is complaining about the collection items so I bought them once and for the cost of them I will never do that again. As far as guiding us that we may not be ready for that project, we have done the project already and did it in less time that was given to complete so that is not even an issue with our co op. Our working together to complete a project/mission is not in question it is not having the tools to even start a project without buying free items. I have members asking me "are we going to do a project today?" I have to tell them no and they go offline and I don't see them again for days. This is not going to do anyone any good, not my co op or GGS.

And that my friend is the incentive to entice people to buy gold, hence getting them to spend gold and in order to do that, to buy gold. And I don't begrudge them trying to make money by making some things easier to get by using gold, but at least call it what it is and don't pretend it isn't about getting people to spend their money. All online games do this. :)

I figure if it took me 2 months to collect one lunchbox I should have 8 in about a year and half!

At any rate I do buy gold and don't have a problem buying it. I do like the game, of course there are a few things about it that I don't like, but you get that in any game you play.

I also buy gold but the point is if I cant keep members interested in the co op because we cant start a project when they want they just leave and I am also disgusted with it. Working my farm is not the problem because I spend way too much time on this game as it is. We just got to the level to open new projects and everyone was so excited and now we cant do it because it takes 1800 tickets! If we cant get 600 tickets to do the popcorn project then how are we going to get 1800 of them? It was so hard to find good members for our co op and now that I have I am struggling to keep them! Yes we could all just go to our farms and harvest and sell stuff but that is the reason I quit playing farmville because that gets old!

Personally, I save my collectables for the higher numbers needed for some of the challenges and let the other cooperative members fill in the smaller ones if they wish. I enjoy the satisfaction I get from having achieved what appears to be impossible when you first start saving. I recently contributed 27 lunchboxes - that was a good day for sure. :D

There should be a way to share the collectable items in between the coop, for example we miss 3 manpower, other member should be able to add from his. I know this is very demanding, but why not? We are all in the same coop, so we should be able to share them, my opinion

I keep a spreadsheet that I update every week with the amount of collectables each member has..

Then we get the person with the closest amount to contribute those collectables.

Updating it this week, I took notice of the lunchboxes and manpower and the amount added for lunchboxes after a week was between 0-4 and manpower was between 5-15

It really depends how often you play and is random. Enjoy it.

Sandi, I didn't mean to say that you weren't ready for certain projects.. It's just that I found that some projects have high amounts of collectables that do that, our cooperative wouldn't be ready to do some of the projects available and don't have the collectables.

It is frustrating when you have to wait so long to get some of the collectables, but then also exciting when one of the rarer ones does turn up. Like a special bonus for all your hard work. In our coop between all our members we can usually start a project, we have one most days, but we play with a mixture of collectables and some gold. Our leader keeps excellent track of who has what though and that is a real benefit, so the one with the closest amount can contribute and someone who has many more can save their higher amounts for a future project.

there was no hard feelings about your comment Camii It is just not the issue with us. We all work hard at the projects and I am impressed that the members of my co op are the ones wanting to do the projects. The thing that bothers me the most is the rate of collectables dropping it you need 1800 tickets and have 45 of them you get an unspeakable amount dropped but when you only need one or two more they just quit! I do not believe this random drop just because I see it going on with all of us. We have 3 members of our co op living in one house so I know what is going on with all of our farms and as the co op leader I know what we need how long we have needed it. I understand it is a business for GGS but I am saying if they want to keep people interested in the game they need to give up some "free items" to keep people playing. To me it is like going into a coffee shop that has free coffee with the purchase of a donut but the catch is you have to wait 8 hours for the coffee. Who is going to do that?

I agree with Sandi and it seems to me that during events the same thing occurs...in the beginnng of collecting items you receive many more per harvest or production of finished good then towards the end of the quest/task...seems very strange...it would be like playing Black Jack and you start to beat the Dealer and all of a sudden you start to lose...very strange indeed. Could it be programed to decrease items as your total amount increases?? Just a thought, but hey...I can't even get my watch to advance after daylight saving time ends, so what do I know...lol. Be safe.

My Grandfather always told me "If you watch a kettle, it will never boil"

I think the same applies here. When we really want something we keep waiting for it, it then seems like it will never come.

I see the frustrations and we have to same too... But it is a business and some real money does need to be spent every now and then... Have you tried doing the research for less collectables?

research does not take collectables it takes money and gold...I spend money on this game and so does my husband and we buy it for our daughters farm as well. The point is we have been waiting for 3 WEEKS for the man power and the answer that I see is if we have to keep waiting for 3 more weeks then GGS is not going to get any more of our money. If I am going to have to pay more money than I already am then I will play a game that is a little more fair.
I BUY GOLD and use it for expansions and decorations and I WILL NOT buy gold for free items! I have a co op to run and if I cant do the projects then there is no point of having a co op just to keep throwing money at.
It is not like this is a rare item it drops on my farm all the time but I am not lacking 3 of them I need hundreds so of course like I said that is the reason I do not believe it is a random drop.
But thanks for the words of wisdom from you and your Grandfather:)
My Grandfather always said a fool and his money will soon part!

    You're welcome.

I know the research doesn't take collectables :p

I just mean, if you do the optimize processes research you will have less collectables needed to contribute to projects :)
