Vinny, in my opinion these decorations are very worth it to spend a little more money and or gold on (it is not necessary to spend any dollars or gold if you are active enough though!). The decoration gives as much happiness as a gold tractor deco and that is twice as much as the highest dollar deco you can get. It definitely helps save space and still keep your happiness high.

oooh about halfway through stage 5
I slowed down a bit on getting fireflies and challenge pieces, so i tried a few things--I noticed that if i DID not touch the firefly jar when they appeared, the next one would probably have at least one jar. If I clicked on the jar to see how many i have collected--the next harvested item probably won't have anything extra. Busy planting corn and making chicken feed and i should have them all late tonight

I think we are all developing our own little superstitions and tricks that we think help.

Whenever I have to collect anything, I collect 1 at a time and move my pointer back and forth over the thing to be harvested first I also never check how many I have until I am done collecting

Soon people will be doing "rain dances" in front of their computers to bring the rain of collectibles .

When i figure them out, I try to share the info so that people that are struggling can still get the big deco--especially if they were not successful on the other times the event has run.

no luck for me with the fireflies.

4 harvest of corn gives only 2 fire flies. I am counting on my silo, mill and compost.

It's a time management game. The longer your good luck dance, they less time you have to harvest another crop. You can't stay awake 24 hours a day.

This type of event is even newer. The first was one was in May and they have been roughly (not strictly) every 2 weeks since.

There's the Camping Event, Asia Event and the current Fairytale event

I am so bummed. I have completed the first five tasks and I am stuck on the apples. I have 750 in storage that I could donate, but I can't grow any more because I don't have fertilizer. I am making fertilizer as fast as I can but I can't get enough dung to make it any faster. There is no way that I can grow 3600 apples in 24 hours. I guess this one mission that I will lose.

But at least you got the stage rewards. So you won't completely lose this event, just the final stage. I do realise that not getting the Fairytale tower is disappointing but there will soon be another event and even the Fairytale event will probably be round again soon

Thanks, rhon, but I was really looking forward to that tower. Oh well, I will know what is coming and I will be better prepared next time.

You could just buy the apples and then donate them right back if you have the farm dollars to do it with.
I'm stuck on the last stage............. I've been trying to catch these fireflies for More Than 24 Hours.......... X(
So even if you bought those apples, you may not make it through the fireflies..............

When it gets to be like that: Time to turn off the computer for a few hours and do something else--eat dinner, go for a walk, go shopping, take a nap. You can set a timer to remind yourself to return in a few hours. Keep it fun.

Evelyn..you can buy apples and donate them...

If you have gold... try using premium fertilizers...

Those can save the time you spend on waiting for the fertilizers...

IF you get them to pop in for the prize--i think it is quite a few. I don't have much luck with them, but that doesn't mean for you not to try them. I plant lots of corn and break it up a bit with cabbage, and once in awhile a round or 2 of wildflowers.

I think it's a jar of 15 fireflies for roses, but the incidence isn't any greater than for other crops. It's worthwhile to plant them as a sanity break, though.

I tried that yesterday. I Planted 4 lv5 fields with rose seeds and got 10 fireflies for each of 3 fields. The 4th field zero fireflies.

The week long event is about to close, but they occur regularly so you won't miss out. When you get to the right level you are part of the event automatically. It appears at the top of the game screen and also as a left hand bar task.

Well........... I guess coming here and blowin' off some steam caused the fireflies to come out. I finally made it....... :S Sure didnt think I was going to though. I remember as a child catching fireflies.......... I know I didnt have this much trouble with them.
I wish everyone else the Best Of Luck!!
