I just completed my bee collection again, although i didnt log in yesterday almost. I got them all this morning, from Corn this time. I never had bees from corn before, but this time cabbage and wheat gave me none, so i had to try the corn ...and it worked obviously :)
Thank you GGS for more wonderful roseseeds :):)

36 hours to go and I have found 3 bees so far. Do you think I'll make it?
I'm going to try to find a few more.

I read that you should plant all one crop. I got 1 bee in wildflowers, 2 in wheat, 4 in corn, and 3 in cabbage. The last one just made my day.

I found 9 of the 10 bees. Then with only one minute to go, used all of the gold I had found to buy the last bee.
The gift was 10 rose seeds and 5 super humus.
    Lois you received 20?

Hmm interesting thanks ! I've only done 2 Bee events and have amassed 60 rose seeds & 15 super humus. I did this event when I was level 43 and I'm sure the beehive page said the reward would be 10 seeds & 5 humus. So I've actually got 20 seeds from this event and 40 from the previous, or perhaps I got some from somewhere else although I don't know where as I didn't play any charity events. I've been playing since the 23rd February. I think that there's several other quests where I could have been rewarded the extra super humus.

The chance of finding a bee is governed by probability, and GGS have placed different ranges on the random numbers generated and thence the probability of a find, depending upon the crop planted.

Probability is the likelihood or chance that something will happen. Probability is an estimate of the relative average frequency with which an event occurs in repeated independent trials. The relative frequency is always between 0% (the event never occurs) and 100% (the event always occurs). Probability gives us a tool to predict how often an event will occur, but does not allow us to predict when exactly an event will occur. Probability can also be used to determine the conditions for obtaining certain results or the long-term financial prospects of a particular game; it may also help determine if a particular game is worth playing. It is often expressed as odds, a fraction or a decimal fraction (also known as a proportion). Probability and odds are slightly different ways of describing a player’s chances of winning a bet.

Daytona, those numbers sound about right, crazy hard to find. I thought I was the only one having trouble finding bees, only got 2 so far out of about 50 harvests. Got none for even planting rose seeds I had, flowers nothing, corn 1, cabbage 1. Don't think I'm going to find them all this time, although I did last time. Seems harder this time for some reason.

About right ?... The numbers are exactly right for me ;) and, even if GGS have coded different probabilities for individual players, I'm guessing that the relative probabilities between the crops have been preserved ie flowers better than wheat.

Daytona: the implied probabilities that you calculate are based only on a sample of harvests, so your figure may well not be exactly correct. Indeed, it is based on a very limited sample for wheat: seven harvests is not enough on which to base a firm conclusion. For example, I got one bee out of seven wheat harvests, so there is a difference there already. Perhaps you should supply a definition of statistics to supplement your definition of probability?

"About right" is as good as any of us can get. (Unless someone is going to do a black ops mission and break into GGS in order to steal the codebase!)

Not happy with bees this time, never had a problem collecting them in the past. This time had to buy 1 bee and I farm everyday most of the day and in the middle of the night. Next time i'm not buying any bees.

This time, I've twice found 2 bees in one batch harvest, the first couple popped up when I harvested corn the first time after the event started and the second couple popped up together when I harvested my overnight wheat -

    I have done the bee mission about 3 or 4 times and I've never had to buy a bee, must just be lucky or online too much (-;

I think it's because you've got 6 fields, like me, aardvark. Also, if you plant flowers or corn then you get eight times more bees per hour than from cabbage or wheat, which makes finding them easy.

Something screwy happened this time - on my www farm the completion time had reduced by about 1 day and I watched her disappear - I notice that she has now reappeared with the correct time remaining but the bees collected have disappeared, as if the event has been reset.

If I remember right you get them from harvesting fields. And they are hard to get. I only do my regular harvesting and forget about the bee event.
