Simply Awesome!!!
I actually kind of agree with Lmb, I prefer being helpful and cooperative and I am not sure if I would want to be in a coop with someone who was very cutthroat about the game.
Wow Lmb, not sure I'd want to be in your co-op if you could remove someone who has spent their hard earned dollars, gold and participation in projects was just removed for playing a prank, a little harsh don't you think. Personally I find removing someone from your co-op much much much more malice than a prank.[/QUOTE]

Yes Monica it does depend on the prank and effect. If someone from my own co-op or someone I am friendly with played a prank on me, I would laugh and have fun with it.

-What mechanisms are in place to prevent malicious pranking e.g. I read something I don't like so I get my co-op to gang up on the person who posted the thing that offended me?
-Given that we are told pranks/gifts are bought with gold, what happens if you don't have the gold to buy these things; how do you defend yourself if people are pranking you?
-Is there a cool down period in between pranks/gifts, e.g. are you "immune" for a time after getting gifted/pranked before you can have another gift/prank?
-What sort of feedback are the devs looking for after this event? Do they plan to have this event regularly even if everyone hates it, or would they be willing to scrap it in that case?
-Is there an opt-out option? (This seems to be a HUGE concern that nobody relevant has addressed.)
-How will this affect missions? Are missions immune from gifts/pranks?
-How exactly does the karma system work for buying gifts/pranks in lieu of gold?
Having the answers to these questions might alleviate a lot of the worries that are evident in this topic. Again, as I said on page 1: I am not saying that I do not like this event off the bat, because it is obviously too soon to judge. However, we do not have very much information at all. I'm just raising some queries that I think we should be aware of, which will help people decide how (and whether) they will take part.
I like the new BLUE color.
On the other hand I do like the idea of gifting some of the very active cooperative members. It is very nice to have people you can trust on your hand and I want them to know it. Even if I have to buy gifts for them in gold.
I also wonder if cooperative leader can see who pranked somebody in the cooperative because it would kind of be important if you have a member who is ruining fun for people so they can get kicked.
Half the day is over and there is still event going on at my farm.
I really want to see how much the gifts and pranks cost,
So i hope this event is going to start soon.
The prank brings another gift in the way of karma that also brings another types of gifts to people who have been pranked but all I see is don't start anything with cooperative until this is over or face another waste of resources. In the end its gifting time, just bad time for cooperations.
The only reason I play this game is because it's a game of CREATION, not DESTRUCTION. If I wanted destruction, damage to anybody else's, or my own property, I would play battles or conquests. If during a mission, a player asks his coop memebrs for help, and they all damage my production facilities so that I could lose said mission, I would not be a happy camper.
Plus, I do not want to wake up to my damaged property and start thinking about a pay-back.
Yeah I know there is a karma system, but it also hasn't been explained to us at all how the karma system works. From what I understand in this discussion, all we know is that if you get pranked you get "karma" for fixing your wrecked farm or field or whatever it is, and then you might somehow be able to purchase gifts/pranks with your karma points.
But what's the conversion rate between karma and gold? Do you need to be pranked like 50 times before you can afford to buy your own prank? Or if the conversion rate is 1:1, then you could easily just do a pay it forward thing where one person in the coop buys the prank and then pranks someone who pranks someone who pranks someone... and not knowing the details of how that system would work is problematic for understanding the event at all.
Basically the problem is that we know of a karma system but we don't know about it.
We have to try and see, it could be not that bad that we think.
Everyone take it easy, I don't think people will prank for nothing, its only a game though
i see your point. It may be set so that we want to get pranked so we can get a lot of karma to buy stuff. Like...tyre swing that will give 1234 happyness or something.
What I think will happen is that...gifts you can buy with karma will be better than gifts alone and that you will be able to buy a protection against pranks for huge amount of gold. And still I cannot figure how it can help with cooperative, i can only see how it can hinder it.
Also, Ive been playing GGS games for almost 3 years now. The mods and CM's will always side with the game and developpers. I know thats your job. And I think Kat is an AMAZING mod, but she wont say anything negative.
I know this for a fact because in Farmer the mods did the same thing and then when they were shutting it down and they quit, they came to the forum and told us all this and how they really felt about everything.
Yes, I know I was a bit harsh in my comment, but Im now trying desperately to make THIS GAME understand that this isnt a good thing or appropriate in this game.
Em 8)
Yep Fluffy, but that's the point--it is all still speculation as to how it would work. We don't have any useful information to go on.
Emrys, personally I don't think it is the role of the mods to side with the game and its developers; they might feel like they should or something, but I don't think it is (or should be) in the job description of the mod to actively promote the game. Mods are drawn from the pool of players and in a way they should be players first. (CMs might be a different issue though.)
As for bullying: one thing I've been trying to point out as an unforeseen consequence of the pranking thing is that people might become afraid to post on the forums if they think they have a view that is unpopular or something that people won't agree with. If they think they can get pranked in retaliation for expressing their views then that seems to be a serious effect on our forum community when people feel afraid to speak up without being punished. Again, nothing I have seen in this discussion has said that there are mechanisms in place to prevent this from happening.
Is this normal in this game ???(
