Missions are going to be even harder to win with the twins.
I have a question: If someone sends the naughty one and messes up my production for the day--are they anonymous (like the shadow soldiers on Empire). ?

The first thing I thought of was how people would be using this to sabotage missions as well.

Are these "gifts" and "pranks" going to be bought with farm dollars, or gold?

No, in the information window of an affected building you will always see who you have to thank (or repay ^^)

Since Balancing is not yet finished, I can't give you a definitive answer for this, but right now it's either (very little) gold or Karma points. This might still be subject to change though, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Sounds fun, but missions do sound harder. I'm pretty excited ^^
The only thing I hope is that this event will not require much gold. :|

Is it possible to get protection from this event? Like buy some Mary Poppins umbrella or so... Preferably, with game-dollars. I really don't want to be involved in it. Otherwise I would be playing Empire.

    Thanks Latten.

Another worry I had was the potential for bullying--so far it looks like people can only be pranked a certain number of times, but suppose a group (e.g. a co-op or otherwise) got together to repeatedly prank someone's farm. If (for example) you can only be pranked once every three hours, imagine that the co-op had, say 15 people, each of whom bought one prank, and then every three hours one of them would use the prank on their intended victim.

That person's farm would be disabled for potentially 45 hours (and maybe more, if the co-op was smart and only disabled the victim's farm during hours when they would be awake). That wouldn't even amount to a prank anymore if that sort of activity is so infuriating for the victim (especially if they are not a gold buyer and cannot retaliate).

My worry is that I can imagine tactics like this would seriously deter people from playing the game over the long term.

Also, what about if people write things in the forum that you don't agree with, and since we're all required to be nice in the forums to each other (which we generally do quite well), then couldn't the sabotaging of someone's farm be a passive-aggressive way to disagree with someone's views, or an indirect way to tell someone that they are a jerk on the forums? That also seems like a misapplication of the prank system.

In short: what measures will be in place to prevent these sorts of scenarios from happening?

Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying that this gift/prank system is a bad idea, since it is just in the works now and we don't have enough information to decide either way. I'm just hoping that we can get clarification on what the limits are, so please don't take my worries of the system as fatal flaws of gift/prank. I'm just trying to get information!

    I agree with jaystarrr.
I already have some people i would love to prank,
    And also some to help.
But I would never go over board.

I just hope it does not cost to much gold because i don't buy gold i earn it by leveling up and stuff,
so i don't have that much to spend. :)

If you want to attack people play goodgame gangster. Give us the ability to give gifts to each other daily like we could in farmfever. This is a stupid update.

i agree, this is a stupid update :(

My imagination went even further than jaystarr.

The bullied person earns a lot of karma repairing his buildings and buys a lot of pranks, at the same time asking help from his co-op or friends, who then also buy pranks in the anticipation of the next event. And next time - it's full out farm/co-op war with all the feelings you get from the fights or battles...

    Hello,

I don't want to prank anyone and am confused by this "event"

    1. Is there a way not to take part and avoid being pranked?
I would be very upset if I were pranked and am a little surprised by the malevolence.

    2. What are Karma points?
    3. Are Karma points going to be part of the everyday game or just during the event?
    4. Are missions going to be effected? (a good point brought up earlier)
    5. Why when this "event" is over, would the pranks still be allowed to continue?
    6. Will all items be prankable? ie. houses, decos, orchards, cows/pigs, fields, silo, mill etc ...?

I really hope there are measures put in place that can allow players to opt out of participating in this event (although I doubt it would probably defeat the purpose of the update). Part of the reason I play this game is because I can be left alone with my farm to enjoy the management game style.
  • edited 25.04.2013
I was wondering what will it take to repair a pranked building?
Will it cost dollars or more gold?
    Or something else?

I don't like this new update at all. I don't want to participate in this event. Will we get some kind of protection if we don't want to participate in this event?
If not I simply won't log in while event is on.
I want to play and enjoy in my game,I don't want people messing up my farm.

I like the idea of the 'Good Deeds', a chance to give lower level players a bit of a needed push. So perhaps once the Event is in progress a 'Wish List' post could be started. A player in need of some help could reply to the 'Wish List' post naming the item they wish had the Extra Production feature, and there by goodwill players would have a direction where their good deeds would give the greatest Assistance.

Hiya I do really like the idea of being able to gift other farms, but the thought of someone messing up my farm, or me doing it to someone else isn't at all appealing. Is there a way to opt out of this update as i really don't want to take part. I also feel that it will result in all out farm wars, and that's not really fair, especially for the lower level players. I'm sure we all appreciate the weekly updates with new things to make the game fun but maybe this wasnt thought out as well as it should be. Its going to make things super competitive. xx

Hmm--i thought we were supposed to be excited about this update LOL.

If i don't send pranks to anyone--Then i should get none in return to mess my farm up. The naughty kid will destroy the game for me.

I also remember people whining about getting attacked repeatedly on the Empire game and they were told to "go back to play the farm game" And now the war comes to the farm. GGS: There are lots of nice games out there & I am certain people will start to go find them really quick. Keep this one peaceful!

I am worried too. I really like playing this game and I actually invested some money in it. I would be really upset if someone else all of a sudden is ablo to destroy it. I do not want to participate in anything like that at all. After leaving the coop part of this game I decided that, even though it was fun, I prefer to just play the game my way. This is really not what I expected! First I paid a lot of money to advance in this game, by buying a water tower etc, and now this money might be wasted? Strange!

This is absolutely the worst idea that GGS has ever had. This is a peaceful farming game. I play here to relax and have fun on my farm. DO NOT go through with this update. GGS has enough fighting games where you can attack people. I play Gangster to attack people and that is the whole point of the game. Im sorry, but this idea is absolutely terrible. I, as do many others work hard on our farms. We DO NOT want people messing it up. This is NO WAY a fun event. I think that GGS really has no concept of how players want to play the games.

I know this is completely off topic, but if you want to create havoc in a game then GGS should have created something like this for Gangster instead of telling us we are no longer getting any updates and our game is dead.

Great job GGS. Way to destroy yet another one of your games and shame on me for continueing to support you. I guess Im the ultimate loser here.

i completely and totally agree with em... the pranking part of this 'event' is totally uncalled for in this type of farming game.

if anything, GGS should expand on the concept of cooperatives...as in, within your OWN cooperative, you would be allowed to share resources with another player. for example, if someone is struggling to produce enough dung to make the fertilizer to start their money-making apple orchards, then allow us to gift to them a portion of our excess dung. that will not only help them, but ultimately help the coop.

in conclusion, this 'event' is a really REALLY bad idea for an update. there are so many ways that this 'power' could be abused...not only by the people who buy gold who would seem to then have ultimate 'power' but also by people who dont buy gold who just want to bully others.

I will not participate in this event by buying anything. However, I could be forced to participate if someone gifts or pranks me. There is too much opportunity for negative or vindictive behavior. Pranks are not funny. Why not hold a "Gifting Event" where higher level players would discover things in their fields that would be helpful to lower level players. Then they could give these objects away and be rewarded with Karma? The more you give, the more Karma you get.

I would be expected to hand over treasures that were not available to me? So much for ranking and trying to make it on my own when someone that started 4 months after me is going to pass me. LOL provide for yourself--so much more satisfying rather than have some one just hand over random supplies.

Geez. The more i play this game the less i like the direction it is heading.

    Just saying. :)

This is a dreadfull update . You take our other farm games away from us . so we started playing this game to keep in touch with our friends . We grow to like the game end up buying gold & now this :( Well I for one will not be giving GGs anymore of my hard earned cash so other players can come along & ruin my farms which I have worked so hard on. Mmmmmm do I really want to keep on playing . This update should not go ahead
