It might indeed be a good idea to make missions lvl 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 and so on. So people have more chance of winning. Then indeed more people might do missions.
It was intended to be fun i think, but reading all these complaints it seems more of a frustration in the game.
Rep points should not count.
The loophole with Rep Points is that anyone can lose them in order to qualify for a challenge with lower leveled players. So I'd rather not.
I'd prefer they order the missions using a combination of level and 'production ability."
What I mean by Production Ability is like this:
I'm level 43 with 4 lvl 5 fields, a level 3 mill, and 3 level 4 Apple Orchards.
If I sign onto a mission like Sell Apples, I should be paired with other people who are at least level 42 - level 44 and have the same number & level orchards that I do.
If I sign onto a mission that requires me to produce feed, I'd like to be able to compete with others in the same lvl 42 - 44 range and have the same level mill as well as the same lvl & number fields I do.
Along with the signing up for a non-gold mission (where I believe that in order to make sure people do not use gold, that they disable the feature), this will provide better grounds for a fair competition.
I also agree with an earlier post about the distribution of the rp award. It currently makes no sense.
I always believed that since the max allowed in a mission is 10 people, that all participants should get some rep points out of it. Obviously the winner will get the max allowed while the one with the least done (not ones with a 0, because that doesn't prove they've done anything) should at least get the least allowed, not a 0.
Say for instance we have 10 people in a mission worth 50rp.
You'll get awarded:
1st - 50
2nd - 40
3rd - 30
4th - 15
5th - 10
6th - 5
7th - 4
8th - 3
9th - 2
10th - 1
Even if it's just a 1, it's something to acknowledge active participation.
That sounds like the suggestion that was made here about level restrictions. I think it'd be quite helpful, short of knowing how the game sets people up that are supposed to be similarly matched but clearly are not.
Don't forget the rest of my post, now.
The reason why I mentioned the production facilities is because that is a heavy factor. The last mission I've done was a Sell Apples one. However there was a guy in there who was more than 10 levels ahead of me and had 7 Orchards to my 3. The only reason why he was placed there with me was because our rep points were within a reasonable range. That's why I'd like rep points to be dismissed as a factor in placing us. It's because of that loophole.
I figured a mix between player level and amount of farm production should be used instead of one or the other. But definitely leave out the rep points.
Woo-hoo! 100th post!
Update: Yeah, I see what you mean with production stuff. I'm currently doing a mission where I am competing with someone who has more than 2x the production resources than I do (they have 5 chicken coops, I have 2). They're streaking so far ahead of the rest of the pack (who are on 1-2 coops) it is pretty ridiculous.
However, when I checked the other competitors, they are all a lot stronger than me. They have all passed the point where they can expand their orchard and some are around double my level. How is that fair and, even more to the point, why lie to me that I'll be playing someone of a similar level? Thanks to that, I'll no doubt not win much money and lose some reputation.
Why would I want to do another mission? Maybe that's why missions are quieter than you expect them to be.
I played it the right way, watching my screen, harvesting as soon as it was ready and replanting and strategically using my saved up humus towards the end. Only in the final harvest did I use gold to speed up in the last few seconds. She, on the other hand, probably went away and did something else for half an hour.
She is quite high on the reputation ranks but when I visited her farm it was a mess, barely developed, space underused and disorganized. She clearly does not deserve to be winning the missions.
For non gold missions, I take it the gold speedup button for the relevant fields or buildings would be disabled while the mission is in progress. A great idea.
1) I love love love the idea of being able to chat with others on your mission.
2) From my observations they seem to try to group people together by levels as much as possible, but it depends on how many people sign up for the missions. When I do missions that a lot of people sign up for (e.g. collect wildflowers for 30 min) I seem to be with people really close to my level, when I sign up for less popular missions that don't always get 10 players and take longer (e.g. one I am currently in start production of pig feed for 4 hrs and only 9 players) the range of levels appears wider. My assumption is that if they get 100 players signing up for the mission they take the top ten in one group, the next 10 in another, etc. I have started the same mission as fellow co-op members and not been in the same group. If they split them completely by level you might get only 2 or 3 people in a group and therefore not much of a reward.
Additionally, I don't think the developers can really sit there and check everyone's farms to see if they have the same number of fields. And if someone wants to have 10 fields so they can win every mission where they have to grow something, the rest of their farm will be unbalanced, that is their choise.
3)GOLD
Where to begin??? First a question, would you rather be able to spend gold to get cash or spend cash to get gold?? Personally, I can always earn the cash, where the gold is more limited. So, I would rather spend cash to get gold.
When you play a mission the rewards are cash, experience and reputation points. You know my opinion on cash. For experience, play the game and you get it, I wouldn't want to spend gold for experience.
Reputation points!! As far as I know they do nothing for you, except bragging rights that you spend gold. I have had 1 quest where I had to earn rep points, I easily did it without gold, you still earn some even if you aren't in first. Also, I know there are co-op projects that require you to earn rep points, again can be done without gold. And one piece of information that will put a lot of people's minds at rest... if you loose all of your rep points the missions are free. So, is it worth it to spend gold for rep points??? Not for me.
Final piece of information even if you come in last place you still earn some cash, usually a few thousand depending on the mission. Therefore, I am always signed up for missions, even when I am sleeping. I wake up a few dollars richer for doing nothing.
4) I would love to have seperate missions for gold spenders, because I like the challenge of trying to do my best without "cheating." However, that is unlikely to happen so I enjoy trying to mess with the gold spenders head. If you are on a mission to sell something, make sure your barn is full, but only sell a small amount at a time, then watch the gold fly. For example on the egg selling mission, I start off by selling 270 eggs, then 5 minutes later I sell 270 more, etc.... finally, I wait until the last second to sell everything and surpass gold spenders. So, if you can't beat them, don't join them, but have a laugh at their expense.
My 4 cents on missions actually 8) Keep them going and earn cash.
Happy farming.
one for the pay2win people who think it's fun to spend 300g+ on a 10rep mission and completely ruin every mission.
then the other type of missions where you aren't able to use gold while doing the mission and can actually have fun doing it.
also variety missions. for example the mission would give you 1 hour to collect different amounts of flowers, corn, and eggs. i think it would spice things up, which = more fun.
edit: thanks kat
Kat.
I don't mind buying gold every so often, but honestly how much gold are these people buying?? I play every single day so far and I just can't compete.
BOOOO to the way missions are currently run!
Even though you have been a member for a little over a month, you have 2 apple orchards at level 3 and 1 at level 2. You have a barn at level 3. You have 4 fields at level 3. You also have 3 "piles of goods" and a cozy picnic area. That with a level 3 house, and several level two houses, on top of a level 2 cherry field, level 2 cow shed, a couple of level 3 pig sties and a level 2 pig sty. That is a remarkable achievement, without using a credit card. I wish I knew your secret.
Nice job. It must have taken quite a bit of planning and strategy on your part. I wish you well and hope your success continues to grow.
