Feedback: Missions
I took a look through pretty much the entirety of the forums, just kind of browsing over the complaints and suggestions regarding the missions. There were well over a dozen separate threads, with many different ideas, so I thought it might be nice to conglomerate all those threads, and stick them here. I figure if there's only one big thread with all the ideas, instead of many of them scattered about, our ideas might get noticed a bit quicker.
So if you have any questions, comments, or complaints - I think having them all in one place might be the best approach.
Gold Use - The very biggest issue that I see most people upset over (at least 6 different threads) is the use of gold to win missions. For me, that's kind of a double-edged sword. I realize that the developers deserve to make money for their time and effort involved in providing this game, and that buying gold is the way they make that money.
But to be able to "cheat" your way through missions using gold is inherently unfair to users who don't, or can't, afford to pay for this game.
It's been suggested (by myself and others) that the easist solution to that is to have two tiers/groups of missions - one where gold use is allowed, and one where it isn't. The "gold" tier should have higher rewards to encourage users to participate in that group; while for people in the "standard" group the rewards are lower.
Competition - The second thing I've seen mentioned a lot is that you're not able to see who you're competing against before you sign up.
Let's face it, seeing who the top players for the week are means absolutely nothing to what's going on in a misson. Being able to see who you're up against isn't only important to help plan a strategy, but also to see what kind of reward you can expect - which leads me to...
Competition 2 - If you go into a mission that says "This is the reward you'll get", and then you end up getting substantially less because that mission wasn't full up, that's frustrating.
Again, simply being able to see who is signed up for a mission before the mission starts would take the frustration out of it.
Levels - The last complaint I'm seeing is that people feel mismatched as far as the levels of opponents you compete against. I know that issue already may have been addressed, but may take some time to work out. All I can say is that as a level 42 player, I'm being matched up against 56 and 57 players, so maybe it doesn't work quite as well as we'd hope.
So, there it is. The biggest problems I could find, all right here in one place. Hopefully, if we keep all the responses in one place, and this thread gets big enough, the developers will notice, and things may change.
Thanks, everyone!

trying to understand missions and their effect on your coop, is another issue that is not described well for new players.
As i said on my thread about missions; there aren't enough people doing missions. If we put the missions into different categories depending on level then you will have even less people in each mission which will bring down the reward.
What people are saying is just contradicting what you're saying...
I think being able to know who's going to be in your mission would be a good thing to have, because you can see if there's anyone of a high level that you're up against.
@Pug mommy I agree with that. I joined a coop, and they explained to me what the missions were and how to do them and stuff. It's quite a hard thing to explain though, if you talk to people on your server and you agree to do the same mission, it helps
@Ezio you like your respects, don't you? xD
yes i do, and i think knowing the people in your mission is good to
That's a possibility, but maybe the reason that there aren't many people in missions is because people feel they're unfair. I know I'd do more of them if I wasn't competing against people 15 levels higher than me, or people throwing gold around like it grows on trees. Balance the missions out based on level (or other factors), and I think you'll see more people playing.
Another thought of mine is for the gold amount to be doubled with no depreciation during missions.
Whether GGS goes with a separate gold level with higher prizes or doubles the amount spent, they still win! lol
Heh, is that what it's *supposed* to do? Because last time I was matched up with someone with over 650 RPs... I had like 30 at that point.
I see what you're saying, and I agree. Maybe the problem is that unless a mission has enough people signed up for it to fill it, it'll just toss in whoever happens to be around. Was your mission full?
a) i dont buy gold as cant afford to and I like to know i got where i am by working hard at it (yes diehard daily player)
b) know i never win as other do use gold to win
c) no incentive to do mission as only winners get reward so i not going to waste time on something i know i not going to get any thing back for doing it
Well thats my 2 cents worth on the topic of Missions
#1 I have heard that you pretty much need to spend gold to win, which I won't do
#2 I am not willing to lose reputation points if I am unable to win
#3 The times that the missions are running almost always coincide with when I am at work. If I'm going to sign up for a mission, I need to be able to be active during it - which limits me to only attempting them on weekends.
If a system could be put into place that teaches you how to do a mission and sorts you according to rank/experience, I would definitey be more on board with trying them. As it is right now, I'm concerned that any time or energy that I put into doing missions will only cause me to lose points.
Thanks Knaves2 for putting this all in one place!
Missions have become fairly useless, except for a couple of players.
I am level 49, I play daily, and I buy/use a moderate amount of gold.
Today I did the "Sell Eggs" mission. Entry was 100RP with a max listed prize of 200RP. There were only four people registered, two of whom are typically in the top 5 players (mission points). The mission started and quickly became a race between the two top players. At the end, the winner had over 20,000 eggs sold and second place was over 18,000. The third and fourth place players stopped after about 10 minutes into the mission as it became clear that the top two were going to spend any amount of gold necessary. First place won 176RP, second place won 88 RP, and nothing was awarded for 3rd and 4th.
Clearly something needs to be done to make missions more than just a bragging right for the very top tier players. At this point they are just silly.
One other thought that I haven't seen in this thread: the total points awarded should never be less than the total points risked by registrants. In today's mission, 400RPs were risked (4 people, 100RP) and only 364 were awarded.
Another concern I have is some will have several plots to work with while others have fewer. This is a great divide and very discouraging when one tries to compete and ends up losing the little bit of reputation they have instead.
Having two different types of competitions (gold and non-gold) is a good idea, but it's unlikely that the devs will go for that since the current setup is more likely to entice players into buying gold.
One feature I see as necessary is that there be absolute bracketing according to reputation points so those with low RP won't have to deal with a high RP person who is likely a gold user. This ensures a fairer playing field and will lead to less complaints about gold users. I'd rather play an unfilled match than have the game toss in a super player to fill up the slots.
As far as seeing who you're playing against before the match starts ... bad idea. That will lead to players only joining if everyone is a lower level than them, which will lead to nobody joining.
Thanks for this thread.
Anyway, love the game!!! If I didn't love it, I wouldn't care to comment.
All my best,
Farmer100
My reply went awol ...
Just wanted to say thanks for posting the thread. Agree on all accounts!!!
Thumbs up if we can get all your suggestions activated!

I can see that being a possibility, but if the matching system actually *worked* (as in you had level 30 players competing against other similar-level players), then that shouldn't be too big an issue.
Maybe it'd be better to show how many people are in a mission, as opposed to who.
