18+ cooperatives USELESS???

Hello, I've got a question, what's the purpose of only-adult cooperatives?
I mean, Big Farm is for everyone, and children are also allowed to play, but registering needs someone 16+.
Suppose there are only-adult cooperatives, where do children go, to get the chance that adult players get for joining a cooperative?

However, they cannot force you to reveal your age, by protection of the GDPR law, if you don't want to. So it's wasting of time typing only adult...

1. Is it because children can be considered as rude? (Being not nice, and selfish)
2. Is it because the activity spent in Big Farm is low? (Inactive gameplay, because of school?)
3. Is it because there are often adult contented conversations in the cooperative? (18+ content, prohibited because of General Terms and Conditions of Big Farm 5.3 c))
4. Is it because the untrust of children? (Lying)
5. Discrimination of children, spelling mistake(s), not thought why, forced, misunderstood meaning of adult etc.

I hope you can answer my question, and hopefully not saying the last one.

Are you saying there should be cooperatives just for children?  Hopefully not. Big Farm is a wholesome game, but this is still the Internet.  A group of children would be a magnet for predators, who would likely pose as kids themselves to interact with them. Not good.  :(  There are plenty of cooperatives that accept young players, so they aren't left out of the cooperative experience.  Speaking for myself, I've always been friendly and helpful to the younger players because they're the ones who need our guidance the most.  o:)

Honestly, I got a feeling that you've to reveal your age, when you want to join an only-adult cooperative.

Mostly of those "every type of players" accepted cooperatives (very common in my server) are very low, and are bad in events.

I understand your problem about impersonating as children, but notice, that some child accounts, have parental supervision, and mostly of the parents recognize that, and they report the player to Big Farm Community, or tell their kids to ignore them/block them.

But still, it's useless, how can staff of the cooperative detect if (s)he's a child? If children are smart enough they can keep reject by saying "I don't reveal personal information, I'm protected by the GDPR law.".

However, thank you for your answer and opinion.

I've seen some kids who are the nicest, smartest, people and I'm happy to help them any way I can.
And I've seen some adults who can scarcely be considered an "adult."

People are people.  Bad and good ones are not limited by age, or anything else.  And since anyone can get behind a keyboard and say they are any age and who could possibly check that,  what difference does it make?

Fortunately I have never come across a co-op stating "adults only". Tbh I would never join such a co-op because it gives a scary impression. Whats going on at that co-op..... Probably just elite players not having time or patience to be mentors for children and wish to make it clear by writing "adults only". Fair enough.

Also tbh I wouldn´t bother my mind about it, people are different minded. Not neccessarily making any bad people. I´d just move on and find a co-op more to my liking.

@ Mr. Farmer (AU1) Could be more likely that your list of points describe the members of an "adults only" behavior at the co-op

    Cheers

Unless you are under 18 and trying to get into a coop that only takes adults, I'm not really sure why it matters if some coops specify 18+ only. Sure kids might be able to sneak in, but again, how does this effect you in any way?  Our coop has had kids in the past, and it didn't always work out. One had to be removed for absolutely lewd language because they thought it made them sound grown up. Most left on their own out of boredom.

Kids will be kids and sometimes grownups just want to hang with grownups. Doesn't mean they're anti kids, but some coops like being able to have grownup conversations, for example -- grown up, not X-rated as your comments imply.  Our coop doesn't have a policy of no kids, but you do have to be a certain level to join.  And, as others have pointed out, there are tons of coops who accept kids. I would say adult-only cooperatives probably are in the minority.

    Well

Our Coop doesnt have a 18+ policy , and we're overall #2-#3 in most events

We have young ones on the team , They are fine :)

Respect is an important aspect in the cooperative and will always be

its not because you are young that you will have a bad behavior, I like to give opportunities :)

We also accept players as low as level 50 in the coop :)

    @ Mr. Farmer (AU1)

its probably a little bit of all your guesses that makes it be like that

I just checked out top 10 co ops on AU server 7 out of 10 are adults only and edit: 12th is Adult ladies only (which is fine their choice)
  • Our coop says adult daily players, but we have had under 18 members. They have left on their own because busy with school, but will rejoin when on break. We have had them many times and never had any issues with them not being adults. They are also hard workers and ambitious :)
  • I dont have a problem with adult only co-ops - it can make sense.  Some may want to share some 'adult' humour/jokes, bawdy, smutty whatever you want to call it and by saying 18+ they are avoiding offended/angry parents.  As long as there is a co-op for everyone that wants one and guidelines are clear - let it be.

Every player in a game can form a coop, by paying a small amount in gold. After that, he/she is a leader of that coop and can freely accept members, deny members, kick out members, give or take the role of a deputy to members or give his leadership to another member.

Every coop than decides how they want to play. You have more relaxed coops and coops that want only players that play 24/7 and use large amounts of gold. Coop descriptions are there to help new players decide which coop suits them best. So if coop description says 18+, it simply means that they think that a younger player will not feel good in their coop. It does NOT mean that you are in any kind obliged to give them any proof of your age or reveal other personal data!!!

“Only adult” could be there for various reasons, like (a) coop has an “open chat” and members are allowed to use “bad words” that are not appropriate for kid ears (b) members are obliged to buy or donate certain amount of gold and "kids"  usually do not have income to be able to do that (c) it is expected from members to quickly figure out how the game works as they are not willing to explain it over and over again.

If you find a description like that and are not sure why it is there, best thing is to write to the leader and ask him/her for explanation.

But in any way you DO have to be over 16+ to play the game at all (see Terms of Service).

Thank you all again for answering one of my discussion.

    `

But in any way you DO have to be over 16+ to play the game at all (see Terms of Service).

    `
    `
2.3Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to register.
    `
which means that, if an adult registers for you, you may play as child the game 100% by yourself, in the ToS, no other rule(s) is/are describing age limit.

But I read others' opinion I changed my mind a little bit. So even if children reveal their ages, I hope the staff of cooperatives won't reject them only because they're child, but behaved normally and meet all requirements, because I still find that age-discrimination...

  • only way to prove age is to hack webcam of your target hehe
  • only way to prove age is to hack webcam of your target hehe
You're right, but following ToS said:
    9.3
    h) the user culpably violates laws that serve to protect other players or Goodgame Studios
So, even if they try, they will get banned. What do you prefer, getting banned and the other got kicked by cooperative, or say nothing, and nothing will happen?

It is age discrimination if you want to get overly technical about it. But look at all the other coops that have restrictions:  Christian coops -- religious discrimination? Women only -- sex discrimination? Seniors only or thirty-somethings -- age discrimination? Men only -- sex discrimination?  I've seen coops for people who live in Florida or Ireland or Narnia -- geographical discrimination?  Etc. If you're going to see one requirement as discrimination, then why not go after them all?

The game isn't discriminatory. Think of the coops as individual clubs who want to play as a group of people who share other similar interests so that chat and socializing aren't limited to just the game. Nothing more than wanting to share the experience with like-minded people. Those under 18 aren't banned from enjoying the game, just not necessarily invited to join an adults-only private club. And again, most coops don't exclude kids.

I think Wing summed it up best -- when coops state what the group is looking for, it gives the applicant a good idea of what to expect.
