Big Farm Game Clock

All GGS announcements with regards to event starts, downtimes, etc, are made in CET time.
Wouldnt it be easier to set the BigFarm Clock to CET time???
The big farm clock makes no sense to me since Im not in that time zone, and that time has no relevance with the times posted by GGS in CET time,  and always having to convert CET time to my time zone becomes a chore.
:/

Thanks for your consideration. :)

This is a great idea and would make the most sense... then we are not trying to work out what it means in our time zone, which is easy enough, but since the clock is basically useless now... set it to CET time! :)

Server Time (US1 is set to "Central Time") is still useful.  Many things happen at Midnight Server Time for each server; Horse Race Fuel (where you can buy 3 extra Fuels once a day) get reset, the Daily Tasks get reset, certain multi-day events with Daily Activity Rewards "Flip" to the next day (like the Chinese New Year), the "Hunt" events (like Mushrooms, Balloons, Candies, etc.) get reset and you can hunt for them again..

You don't have to be in the same time zone as the clock to make use of it; when I send out mails, I just say "such as such event will start at 2:00AM SERVER TIME), and everyone knows I'm talking about the clock at the top.  Course, that was back when we KNEW what the start times would be..

We have people that play all over the world, and they don't have to sit there and calculate.. Lets see, The event starts at 5:00AM CET, and I'm in Australia which is 7 hours ahead of CET time, and it's 2AM here right now.. add.. carry the 1.. substract the current time.. Oh bloody HeDoubleHockeySticks, I've got a headache now, I'm going to bed, it'll start when it starts. :)

and if they set all clocks to CET time, you would still  be able  to say such and such SERVER TIME... LOL

    no calculations needed! ;)

That's true. :)  We'd have weird times for Mushroom Hunts resetting and stuff though.. 5PM in the US (US1), 10AM in Australia (AU1), etc. :)

Clocks and Time Conversion seems to be something GGS doesn't seem to be very good at tho. CNY Day 1 on US1 being 16 hours long being a prime example. You'd think after rewriting the code for the HTML version of the game that would have fixed little minor stuff like that.. :)

Oh i see, the "server clock" which is 'the big farm time" controls daily functions, and daily resets in events.

biggest issue with time is when ppl dont even try to understand server time

We all have weird start times anyway... and yes, seems GGS is not good with working out times for all the world... ah, if only @Southern (US1)   maybe someday!!! one can always hope!

I think this is a great idea.  My clock is 2 and a half hours out from my actual time and basically useless to me.  So many things reset at different times now CET time would be fantastic - no more converting.

Yep, it starts when it starts.
Since they've changed the start times of events on the US1 server to begin past midnight when most US1 players are asleep (which is a big downer), it doesn't really matter to me anymore when an event starts.
It starts when I am able to log in and play.  :)

Biggest issue with time is when people waste it making indirect, snide remarks that offer no contribution to the topic at hand.    Thank you for your comment.

I was under the impression that all events started at the same exact time regardless of a country's server time.
Hence my suggestion to have a universal clock that binds all servers.     I couldn't care less what time the reset is to collect daily log-in rewards, water trees, and train cat-dogs-- as long I as complete them within a 24 hour period.

Yet if the opposite is true where major events start and are regulated accordingly to their own country's server time (Big Farm Time), then why the sudden change to have US1 server events start during the midnight hours???    Certainly they couldn't be trying to generate revenue during off-peak hours... or could they, hmmm.  :/

Sometime last year Wascally Wabbit posted about using the Berlin time zone & to add it to you computer where your date & time is. I did this & it is great as I can see what time it is here in Australia & what time it is in Germany for GGS. I named it Big Farm Time...lol

This saves a lot of having to calculate the time difference in zones and it also helps with daylight savings as well because you don't have to factor it in.

edited to add Berlin uses the Hamburg time zone

If they used CET time for US1, that would also put Yarnacle into port at 1AM and leave at 7AM. (also 1PM to 7PM, but that one would be ok) :)

The clock was initially brought in because of Happy Hour. They also had plans to start major events based on Server Time (instead of all-at-once based on CET time).. But that didn't work out very well, events they tested broke.

Since they don't do Happy Hour any more, the easiest thing to do would just be to remove the clock. Then you don't need to worry about what "time" it is on the server.
