    Yesterday I spun the 1st time & won a dead tree (not what I chose).
    It still has not given me a way to donate items.
    It just keeps saying "time ran out, be faster next time".  Again, there is no way to donate items.
    It only asks for gold.
  • i actually like this event.  I get to clear out my inventory of useless items (like donkey feed when i have no donkeys), get some free decos that i wouldn't otherwise have, and it only takes a few minutes once a day.  It's a little complicated to figure out but worth spending the time to do so.  i don't use any gold.  I add items until i'm up to the level 8 or 9 value decos, spin the wheel when i like most of the decos that will be in that spin, and get a random deco.  it is luck based, like too many things on BigFarm, but with 5 days (or longer?)  the odds are that you'll win at least one deco that you will be excited about.  yesterday i won a Courtney the Cow and today a Curious Rabbit.  Not the ones i was hoping for, but I'm very happy to have them.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow's spin and hope this event continues to be offered every year.
  • I am so not happy with this Santa workshop, I ended up paying out in gold 3 times cause it would not spin at all unless I did, only to get a item in the end that I already have and did not want, I am so not liking this one nope.
    @Blue Denim (US1) You should never "have" to use gold, but you can choose to if you don`t like the deco that you win or if you want to wake Santa up early (before 24 hours has passed) to play again.

    Whenever you open the event, you will see one of 2 screens, if it is the one shown below, then you can go ahead & donate & spin, no gold anywhere. If it is a screen that does not show the donate section, then Santa is still asleep & it will cost you gold to wake him up, so just come back when it is 24 hours since your last spin.

    After you spin, you get this screen which lets you accept your deco or spin again for gold.

    If you did not reject the deco, then the only place that you could have spent gold, was to wake Santa up early, to play more than once a day & yes that can be expensive. :/
  • TheJ.mulcahy (GB1) said:

    That is more what happened, I left it overnight to decide whether or not to accept the deco or not play it anymore, except it didn't say to wake up santa when I logged in this morning.

    What I had this morning was an option to donate extra goods at the top I could slide the bar along to donate but it would not accept anymore goods when I clicked to donate.... or I had a spin button at the bottom with no gold amount showing at all either top or bottom,  the only other thing was the spin button as if it had reset, only it obviously hadn't reset properly hence the error message I got and then the gold being taken as if I had chosen to move the deco along, which had changed from the co op trophy dec to a small flower dec.
    I know it is confusing, sorry about that.

    @TheJ.mulcahy (GB1) It is actually getting less confusing hehe I think I follow what happened, just a couple more questions, we will PM you. :)

    i have a question here. i used the wheel today first time, as i said above, and it gave me option to donate dollar mining licences. is there a way to choose what you want to give? or is it just one pre-set thing for the day (because i'm not gonna give gold either), and that's it? or is there a way to give more than just one thing? (like combo of dung and...idk.. carp fish)
    There is a way to choose something besides Mining Dollar Certificates.  You click on the arrow down button and a whole window opens where you can scroll down to the item you wish to donate, dung for instance.  Of course dung does not give you many points. But hey, those decos don't give big points either.  I would give you a screen shot of it, but my Santa thing is in its "cool down" resting period.

    Can somebody please post a screenshot of what decs are available at the very very top? Im curious if it's worth for me to go donate beyond the balloons.

    I'll grab you the whole row as soon as my wheel resets and I can donate again - and after I have a nap. :)
    @Michiru (GB1) - Here's a screenshot of all the Quality 9 Decorations on the wheel:

    And woohoo! I spun after grabbing the screenshots and won the Teacup Ride!! :)

    How much stuff did you have to donate to get that quality 9 Teacup deco?

    So could you have sold that 512,939 worth for a ton of money either in contracts or direct sell?  Was the difference worth it?  I am not sure I would trade 1 million dollars worth of stuff for a deco...even a good deco.

    Oh, it's more like $65 Million for that many candles (around 27,000 Lobsters, which is typically what I use to spin with).

    Good thing I have about 750,000 of them. :)

    (Well, had. I've used about 50,000 of them on 2 spins now). :)

    Hi guys! Returning player, last time I played this event was when a friend was still playing with me and I got the Touring Theater deco - really cute and useful, and only had to donate up to lvl8!
    This year I'm confused. I got to lvl9 by donating everything I've gathered these past couple of years.

    I got a lamp post.
    I clicked around for 45 minutes to donate all my stuff to reach 9 because I thought higher level=better deco. But this lamp post has 8 happiness... it does have 28 village happiness but I don't have a use for that, I don't do any co-op stuff.
    The description of the deco hurts, because it says "It starts out low in happiness points, but you can upgrade it easily!" but the costs of going from 8 to 9 happiness are like this:
    34,220,927 gold
    or 104,944,176 deco parts
    or 157,416,262,507 dollars
    I wish these were typos but they're not! :(

    Is this intentional? It must be bugged somehow, because I had to zoom in on the dollar sum since it's so high the game can't even properly show a number that big. There isn't even snow on the farm anymore and the best event of the year is like this now. I spent so so many items... :cry:
    Wasting months of effort like this makes me want to cry, I feel stupid and cheated.

    Please put a warning somewhere on the event. I don't want others to make my mistake! :disappointed:

    @NormaHelen (US1), @aquilawolf (US1) , @DxrxbillingGame (US1)

    Did you just slide the bar or did you also press the donate button? See the button marked by C? If you did not press the button, the donation did not happen. By sliding the bar, you are just able to see what decorations will be available. Only pressing the button on a candle actually donates goods.

    @archerbob (AU1)
    The purpose of the event is to change the goods that cumulated during the year for a deco. If you want to get a better decoration, you have to donate goods (see drop-bar A).

    @Farmer Kissy (US1), @Sandy9882 (US1), @ninjahuman (AU1),

    I know that those timers can be a bit confusing. In general it goes like this: when you spin and get the deco, you have to wait for 24h for Santa to wake up. If you like to spin wheel again before that time, you have to pay gold.
    How much you have to pay depends in which stage you wake him, that is why there are different timers (one for each coloured number). If you do not want to pay gold and would like to know how long you have to wait until you can spin the wheel again, press number 2 and the right timer will show up.

    (P.S.: Picture is taken from http://crazybigfarm.tk/events/santas_workshop.htm)

    @Niryn (INT1)

    The Serene Streetlamp is a 1x1 decoration though, with 8 Happiness. That's a "Happiness to Square" ratio of 8:1.

    The Touring Theater might have a happiness value of 100, but it's also a 5x5 deco - meaning it takes up 25 squares.  That puts its happiness-to-square value at 4:1.

    So the Serene Streetlamp has twice the happiness-to-square ratio as the theater, and that's why the game "Values" it more.

    The upgrade cost is out-of-line, though - it's been a problem with those decos with high VILLAGE happiness for awhile now.

    We can donate any of our unwanted items in our inventory so why can't we donate what little Ludwig coins we have left rather than have them disappear with an update?

    They are in my inventory so why can't I use them to get a deco from Santa?  I didn't have anywhere near enough to buy a deco from the trader when he was here so for me the remaining coins are of no value.  :(  They will go poof! next update.  They should be included in the items we can use for Santa's workshop.

    I got a level 9 decoration quite happy , you can keep Donating by blowing out candle and adding more . on the right hand side it shows what level decoration you can spin for and at the top it shows how many points to the box, yes you can only do it once a day, Unless you spend gold when I worked how it works was very happy.
    I think a better instruction on the help button would help
    I am hoping to Jag a Gary the goat Fingers crossed

    I personally would use the money for that many lobsters to buy land and upgrade my farms.  But as the saying goes "to each her own".  We obviously have different priorities and that is A-Okay!  The main thing is that we just have fun.   <3o:)  A level 9 deco with high village happiness points at this point in my game is not a priority.  But have fun!

    Thank you, that's helpful. You're right, they're technically "good" decos but they just don't feel good to get, because the other decos already fit so well that I don't generally have 1x1 slots available.
    I think I'm being selfish, but getting something as mundane as a lamp post felt weird when the other levels are full of cool christmas/event style decos and lvl9 cost me at least 100mil in items.

    I just won't donate 'til lvl 9 again, and I'd advise others to do the same, if you like to use only the more "interesting" decos. :D

I am suppose to be looking for 3 chipmunks on My farm and a shovel is suppose to show up, I am in HTML version, But no shovel on My main Farm is showing up, I have searched that whole farm and nothing, are they only suppose to be on the Main Farm, or am I looking there for nothing?

    @Blue Denim (US1)   my first time looking for the chipmonks.... I just moved my cursor all around the farm and did find them... but here is a pic of where they are... you can't see anything because there is no snow/snow piles...

    Well, I gotta say I'm most disappointed in Santa's workshop. Mine rarely works correctly. I've set an alarm so I don't miss the countdown( please don't judge, lol ), I WATCHED it countdown to zero and...nothin, nada, no prompt to donate, spin, couldn't even but it with gold( not that I would even have the money to waste on 390,000 gold) It just said I was too late, try to be faster next time and I watched it turn to zero on the timer, how much faster do they want me to be?! Nope, this is just another ggs rip-off goldmine and I won't be playing it any more.

    I could be wrong, but I thought the countdown clocks had something to do with using gold to wake up Santa. If you don't use gold, the event is open to donations just once a day.

    Correct.  Look at the graphics below:

    (Tab 2)

    (Tab 6)

    (Tab 9)

    See how the different tabs (numbered 2-9) each have their own countdown clock?

    Each tab represents a Quality Level; if you click on the number 6 for instance, and there's time left on the clock, you can pay the gold cost (44,900 gold, in my case) to "Wake Santa Up" and the wheel will start with Quality Level 6 decorations.  You can then spin immediately for a Level 6 Deco, or donate stuff to get the Quality Level up higher for better decos.

    If there is NO time left on the clock (like on Tab 9), then you CANNOT wake Santa up at Quality Level 9, no matter how much gold you have - you have to wake him up at a lower level, like Level 6 (also above), then donate your way back up to Level 9.

    But unless you want to pay (a LOT of) gold, the tab numbered "2" is the only one you care about.

    So when you're checking Santa's Workshop, always click on the number "2" to check and see how much time is left until your next spin.  When the timer on the "2" tab runs out, THEN you can spin for free.

    Until that timer (on the #2 tab) runs out (which is 24 hours from the time of your last spin), it will cost you gold to wake Santa up.

    I think that's what is confusing most people, because when you open Santa's Workshop, it does NOT default to (Tab 2). So always always always click on that (Tab 2) when you open Santa's Workshop to see how much time is left on the timer.

    @WiseWing Thankyou for answering my post from last years event I have not done it this year yet but at the time when I made the post the donate button was greyed out and not letting me add to it  It did get straightened out though and I got a level 8 deco last year  It takes a ton of donating to get to a high enough level to be worth it

    @Southern (US1) and everyone else who posted here. I read the thread several times after years of reading the instructions, I finally got it!  (Took long enough.) Thank you all for explaining the event in a way that is easy to understand. I was able to unload a ton of dung and won a few nice decos, including a much-coveted (by me) 1x1. From here on out, I'll be playing without any donations to speak of, but it's much more enjoyable when you understand the mechanics of it.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    We can't seem to donate to get the wheel higher than a level 3 decoration. There is a limit put on the amount of donations allowed.
    For example; I have over a million golden horseshoes, it would only let me donate less than 2,000 of them and get a level 2 decoration. Obviously, I had more to donate if it was allowed to do so.
    Are people using gold AND donating items to get the high level decorations?
