Handbooks watered down

Having looked at the new booster system, which now devalues handbook bonuses due to the ordering of when the bonus is applied, i am wondering what was the devs logic behind this decision? Those who spent gold in good faith (and high level books are some of the most expensive purchases in the whole game) are once again seeing their investment watered down (not the first time this kind of stunt has rasied it's head).

I guess this question goes to Mr Hunter as community spokesman - I'm sure your biggest gold spenders (as they are the ones most likely to have the highest handbooks) are waiting with baited breath as to why some of their biggest investments in the game have been effectively nerfed.

I would like an answer on this too.
  • Watering down handbooks ... sounds just like communism.
  • i just harvested my cowsheds using the 50% extra bonus from the garage
i am getting 100 milk per barn less
    this sux :(
  • ooh i forgot they lessend the amount of xp we get on sertain things aswell
i dont know what such changes are ment for it is just bogus to go change that
just fix existing bugs instead changing stuff around that is soo unnessecary to be changing and making new bugs in the process
no1 ever asked for changes like this they suck these changes

Guys, you're not going to get an answer you like. GreyCat Ashes was close but, no cigar. Capitalism is the answer. The handbooks have been nerfed to make the new booster skins more valuable/desirable.

  • so far the only skinns i like are the original 1s and the 1s that are fairytale like or the pink candyfarm stuff to bad theres no pigs from candyfarm or chicken coop
i refuse to be forsed to put on stuff i dont like to look @

So to explain the logic behind the decision it all boils down to the new booster skins. Before we made changes the booster skins would have had some quite different effects on different products and combinations of items because the stack order of boosts was not previously consistent. In order for the booster skins to be more consistent and work in a way that's expected we had to unify the ordering and stacking of the various boosters in the game.

It does unify things but I can also see your point about handbooks but at the same time the handbooks only guarantee a specific increase in a production, that hasn't changed and if you have +20 corn displayed due to a handbook being purchased you will not get less than this displayed amount when you harvest your corn. Having said that, I'd be happy to take this feedback to the team as I do also see the point you raise about handbooks. We're grabbing feedback from you guys and looking into how we can improve and enhance, so thank you for sharing!

How have the handbooks been nerfed? Library book purchases are permanent, these booster appearances are only temporary. It may level the playing field when players purchase and use the booster appearances but at the end of the day they will have to keep purchasing them over and over again to stay on par with the players that have the library books. A player with 20 fields that has library books is in a much better position because they boost all of them, would a player really purchase 20 temporary boosters to compete? It ends up a lot more expensive for them long term.

i take your point, ie the books still give +20 corn etc, but my point remains, the biggest gold expenditure players are likely to invest has been stacked so it is now less effective with the new skins booster, my request for logic is why stack it so it's watered down instead of stacking it so the biggest gold layouts give the most reward they can?

Try finding ways to earn revenue fairly.

If you keep changing the rules of the game so often, it becomes pointless to spend any gold.

    @Corvid (GB1)

Just in case you missed it:

They are going to raise the boost provided by the handbooks to offset the loss from the stacking bonus.

Weird.. Don't know what happened with that link.  Let's try it again. :)

(Comment from CM_Hunter about raising the boost provided by handbooks)

Then there was a survey (which I guess you missed) asking us to let them know how we mostly used our fields, cowsheds, humus & fertilizer, to give them a better idea on how much of a boost to give the handbooks.

There's no timeline of when the boost(s) will be added to the various books, though.
