LOSING 10% REPUTATION POINTS A WEEK

I recently noticed we are losing 10% of our reputation points a week.

WHY?????????

Everyone loses 10%. It's part of the balancing and matching for missions.

@Michaelmn569 (US1) It stops the inactive players from clogging up the rankings, because they only go down, whereas the active players go down & then up further.

Which makes absolutely no sense at all.  Why not just the inactive players the ones who lose their rep points?  Why penalize those of us who maintain ours?

It's not really a question of getting penalised when you consider that Reputation Points outside of missions and CC has no value to you as a player whatsoever.

Since they were introduced to the game years ago the cumulative RP score for every player has always had no other "function" than bragging rights.
And since everyone lose 10% every week, the pecking order for bragging rights remain intact.

Well then, I want my bragging rights kept intact.    :p

I played missions for the certs so I could build my machines, and all are now fully built.  I play missions now for the sole purpose of getting the certs to run my machines.  But again, if someone is not playing missions, they should be the one losing the 10% of reputation points, not the rest of us who actually put in the work to earn those RP's.  I mean really and truly, we work hard to earn those rep points, so why should the pecking order remain the same?  If they don't play they go down the ladder, isn't that what all things BF is about?

My guess it it's easier to reduce 10% across the board than it is to re-write the codes so that just those who aren't active lose the points.

It evens out in the end -- the ones who are active will still climb, and the ones who aren't will eventually sink.  It also prevents someone from dropping tons of gold for a gazillion RPs at the beginning, then just doing nothing the rest of the time while the rest try to catch up to him/her.

RP rankings mean absolutely nothing. It's the certs you're going after, and those aren't affected.

I agree with artful, 10% off everyone is a nice simple action, I don`t know how you could even do only 10% off the inactive players, it would involve searching the database & checking logins and how do you determine which ones are "inactive", what if someone had been gone for 6 days & then logged in the day before the cut or would it be someone who missed 1 day or do you just have to login once a week to count as active? It all sounds very messy to me, 10% off everyone makes much more sense & doesn't penalise anyone.

The 10% is the GGS tax, for the privilege of playing their game we must give our overlords 10% of our rep each week...
