Village happiness

What is the exact way to calculate village happiness?  I can see where smaller players starting out are not able to participate in village upgrades since not only do they not have a lot of money to spend on village dollars but everything they buy is at many times the cost that the higher players.  I have quite a few decorations now with village happiness but not like my farm happiness, my farms run with -79--88 on the costs but my personal village happiness is only -39.  I have to add here that I am often not able to complete the weekly tasks now that they have put my level up to 3, to have to donate over 10K apples is just totally ridiculous, the reward I was getting was worth only a fraction of what I could sell the apples for, so I imagine that the smaller players have an even more difficult time completing tasks that could earn them village happiness

Here is a comparison between a player that is at level 62 and one that is 35
Resin lv 35                 lv 62
24816 for 47              8459 for 47
paint lv 35                  lv 62
67360 for 29              22960 for 29

The smaller player is paying 3 times the cost of the higher player because they can't get the village happiness decorations they need to lower the costs.  This smaller member of the coop has only been playing for a month, so has not seen many holiday decorations.
A breakdown of what the two levels of happiness follows
village happiness
lv 35                                           Lv 62
construction         -128              -128
village happiness +55              +259
happiness             -73                131
production costs  +77                 -39

This is the decorations total for the village happiness
decorations           14                 105

I can't see a mathematical explanation for the numbers, I have a village happiness of +259 with decorations that total 105, they have a village happiness of +55 with decorations that total 14, which I might add are all the decorations they have been able to get so far.    I would not feel it was fair to ask a player half the level I am at, to make items that cost them 3 or more times the cost.  It doesn't seem that Village activities are for the new players, and I imagine that players twice my size are paying much less then I am paying even though they are much more able to afford to buy village dollars.  There seems to be something else that contributes to village happiness other then just the decorations from the numbers above, but research doesn't provide any answers so far.

  • For comparison purposes:

I'm level 54 and the co-op I'm in is not active anymore, people just abandoned the game and are never online.

Our Village Level is 75 and the stats are as follows:
    • Construction progress       -267
    • Village happiness             +136
    • Happiness                         -131
    • Production cost dollars     +144%
    • Production cost Gold        +12%
The cost of producing the above same items:
    • Resin          34,262
    • Paint           92,996
I can't do much, honestly... And like you said, donating 10k apples for an event that gives a deco with 3 village happiness is pretty futile. There needs to be some scaling implemented to the entire Village idea.

There is no real way to calculate the exact VH only your own. The VH works a little different than the regular happiness. It is based on the number of members & their total VH they have out on their farms. The Gold fish pond at this time is the best way to help all the members of the co op to get better VH. Certain team/co op events will have decos with both types of happiness your co op can earn. Not to mention the weekly events to help with decos that have both types of happiness on them for each member to earn.
The levels of all and any built building in your co op village and future upgrades, will take away from the total average of the co op VH.

Yes you can get weekly events if you consider this game a full time job, but  I do have a RL weekly events have gotten so hard that I am unable to finsh them and so are the other coop members not finishing them.  To spend all that time trying to get 5000 apples when you have one orchard is days work not one day, not to mention regardless of playing for hours it took 2 days to get bread crumbs, so of course the task was left unfinished unless I wanted to pay an exorbitant amount of gold for something that had 3 VH on it.

Yes, completing them at level 3 the first time is quite hard. I took time to build my farm specifically to complete the event, extra orchards, upgraded, library books etc. I largely ignored the co-op (and the village didn't exist) This game is not quick  :¬D
  • I have been on level 3 for some time and am not finishing them, now I consider it a waste of time and resources to give away all that produce for almost no reward.  If the items would drop faster it might be doable, The crops I have, but for it to take a couple of days to finish bread crumbs and what ever the last one was.  It is disheartening to collect an entire farm of crops and products and look to see you received 5 bread crumbs.  It seems to me you should get 5 from just one field of wheat, not from 6 fields of wheat, 3 pig pens, 4 chicken coops, and 4 level 5 cow pens, not to mention the mills production and 6 orchards.   I think the fact that there is no control on how many you get is the worst part, I can plant and plant and plant and one time I will get 1 the next time 3 then the next two times none.  And I think my luck has been on the none too many times.

@GoldenrodFarm (US1) There is no doubt that the themed events get much easier once your farm is well established, but there are some things you can do to make things a bit easier on yourself. Firstly where it says what you need to collect for the task, always click the ? next to that, to see where you will get the items from, because you say you collected your whole farm looking for breadcrumbs, but they only drop from orchards & fields - There is one task on each event that just uses orchards & fields and in the Camping event, just fields, which are notoriously the slowest task on each event, using event seeds can help & cherry orchards usually have a high drop but a lower chance of getting one.

There are sites available that tell you all the tasks for each event, make use of them to plan ahead, so that you get the possible start on each task when you reach it & be flexible with your farm, if you always keep some free workers available, you can temporarily pick up some decos & build an extra apple orchard or 2 or another pig sty & then demolish it again after that task & maybe build something else for the next task.

As for "waste of time and resources to give away all that produce for almost no reward" sometimes completing something is its own reward, but in this case, the reward is the deco that you need & there are smaller rewards for each task. If you think about, yes you could sell 5000 apples, but you could also get a deco that reduces your costs enough that you save on all your productions & end up better off than you would have been if you sold them.

Lastly, I took a look at your numbers in your earlier post. You are on the right track, the village happiness does come from the decos that you have built (plus the village pond) but you may have missed some when you were counting them, I made your total VH from your decos 217 (not 105) - If you switch your farm to outline view, you will find it much easier to count them.
  • I do look at the places you are able to collect the drops, and concentrate on them, and I guess the waste is the fact that I donated all those things and have failed to finish an event the last several times. The last time I was missing 12 drops and there was an offer to sell me the decoration for 4700 gold,  Really 4700 gold for 12 items, maybe 10 gold or 12 gold but 4700????  Logistically it is not possible to collect that many apples in the time allotted unless you are using seaweed or gold, neither of which I have much of, There are too many costs in my life to pay for virtual gold.  I could put down more apple orchards if there was room, but you have to wait for updates.  It is a catch 22 situation, I am not big enough, so I can't do these things, can't get the decos, and it costs me more so I can't afford to upgrade as fast, so I can't get the events done.  If I was allowed to choose my level maybe I could get some smaller decorations  to start to lower cost, but instead my level keeps going up or stays at the place I failed last time.  Not sure if it is worth getting it done if it will just raise me to another impossible level.

I frequently use the outline mode, and counted my points in that mode 3 times, just recounted them again and that is what I get 105, + the additional 5 points from a decoration I just put down.  I did miss the gold fish pond though, not sure how to count that amount, there are two numbers ia 32 and a 5, I  imagine the 5 is what is added to my points.  I am still perplexed at the points, that is one thing about this game that annoys me, there is no way to figure things out, no way to figure out if things are working properly.  Truth be told with the daily bugs present there are probably many many more we just don't see because there is no way to count them or figure them.
I have done a lot of research on this game and there are an amazing amount of things that are never explained, maybe my analytical bend of mind is not for a game like this lol   When you harvest crops multiple times, and I have 6 fields, and end up with 5 or 6 drops out of 340, you know it will take days.

I would like to say I do not shy at challenges, challenges is what most of my life is about, but after striving with all my might at something several times in a row and failing, it is probable that the challenge is impossible at that time without more resources.

  • @GoldenrodFarm (US1) Your fish pond is giving you 32 for the level of the pond & the additional 5 is for keeping your fish fed - If your fish die, you would lose that 5.

When your happiness was +259 in your 1st post, that was calculated like this:

Decos on  Main Farm   = 125
    Decos  Gourmet Farm  =  71
Decos on Flower Farm  = 21
    Village pond (32+5)       = 37
Cat (on Main farm)        =  5
    _________________________
    Total                              = 259
    _________________________
  • Well I failed on the weeks event again this week, seems like each task takes 2 days and with 6 tasks that will be 12 days not 5.  So I guess my village happiness is not going to change much at this rate.  To put all that time and effort into an event and fail at the last minute each time is very discouraging, not to mention a waste of resources
