village challenges--leader & deputy settings
is there a button i don't know about that would block members from starting a challenge, restricting it to leaders/deputies??
only leaders/deps can start a building upgrade, why then, may any coop-mate start a challenge????

No, although must be a member for 30 days before starting one, unless that changed5 -

Any member is allowed to start a village challenge so you need to make sure your members know they shouldn't start without permission or whatever you've set with your co-op.
Only leaders & deputies can start village upgrades immediatel (only their vote needed) but other members may start village upgrade regardless of position in co-op if they have the required amount of votes to start. You need to make sure that your members know what you're co-op plans are or standards for starting a village upgrade.

glad i didn't miss anything
i just feel like there should be a "safeguard" ....votes aside, village upgrades are restricted, and starting challenges should be also, it's very easy, as we all know, to click a wrong button (you've never spent gold on accident???) , and even easier for newer players, no matter what they have been told......
And if not as a "safeguard" then just to be consistent with other village functions.
