Did developers intend to make the recipe 160 olives to 80 olive oil or the other way?

The sell price of olives is 90 but the sell price of olive oil is only 52
The ingredients are worth 14400, but the product is only worth 4240.
The process of making it makes it lose 10160 dollars of value.
Sweet scented oil requires 160 olive oil, which requires harvesting an olive orchard 4 - 5 times.
Paint in the coop village requires 130 olive oil, requires harvesting an olive orchard 3 - 4 times
Saltwater burger requires 30 olive oil,  Fishermans delight requires 60 olive oil.
Olives take 6 hours to grow so it will take days to get enough products to fill orders or to make a profit.

Did developers intend to make the recipe 160 olives to 80 olive oil or 80 olives to 160 olive oil?

  • The fact that olives make a better profit than olive oil has been questioned several times before & the only answer has been that level 2 products are not intended to be profitable, they are for using to make level 3 products. That does not really explain why the other 3 distillery products do make more profit than their ingredients, but the chances are they might make those ones less profitable as a fix :/ So as it has never been changed, we can only assume that it is intentional.

If you are not producing enough olives for your needs, build more olive groves. :)

I declined many contracts that require olive oil and skipped many customers that required level 2 products including olive oil and any type of farm supplies.

Also have you looked at the amounts of olive oil needed for the recipes? The demand for olives is way higher than citrus fruits.  If the recipe was the other way, the demands for olives will be the same as citrus fruits which is more balanced.

You're right, of course, but it all evens out in the end.  Don't get too caught up in the profitability of each individual item, or you won't get anywhere.  As you level up, you'll have lots of extra of everything, and you can easily sell level 2 products and farm supplies.  For instance, I never could have enough fertilizer on hand -- either regular or liquid -- and held onto them for dear life.  Now I can happily sell them to walkup customers and still have plenty on hand for my needs.
