No, you seem to misunderstand the equipment.

The only reason to use a tuna fishing pole is when you send a boat to a tuna/herring pool and ONLY want to catch tuna, perhaps for the FHWE.

In order to catch swordfish you would need to send you boat to a hole with swordfish/salmon/cod.

The only thing the chum will do is increase the amount of fish that you catch, it is not a bait or lure; it is technically just a booster and in my opinion that is what they should have called it. Also you must read the description on the info icon for each chum to see what it will increase. It is a bit confusing because Oyster chum does not increase the oysters, it increases herring, tuna, lobster, cod, salmon and swordfish.

    Hi @Val C (GB1)
You have to think of the chum as a booster.  It will increase whatever your boat caught and of course your boat has a capacity; you can only send it out to catch the maximum your boat will hold.  If there are only 120 in the pool and you equip your boat to catch all 120,  there will still be an increase even if there are no more fish in the pool. The increase would be dependent on which chum is used, there is 10%, 25%, 35%.  This percent would be added to the 120 tuna.  I just woke up so I hope I am explaining it well enough.  :p

Edited to add:  You can also get an increase on the entire boat load by having someone use the ghost rod obtained from the twins on one of more of your boats as @garybaldy (GB1) suggested.
    Sorry @Shay1968 (US1), but that's not correct.

Chum only increases the speed of which you catch fish (by increasing the number of fish caught per hour by the % of the Chum; 10%, 15%, 25%..).  It has no effect on the number of fish in the pool or the capacity of the fish in the boat; if there are 120 shrimp in the pool for instance, then using 10% chum will catch those (120) Shrimp 10% faster, but it will still not catch more than 120 shrimp.

The Ghost Rod, on the other hand, WILL increase the number of fish in the boat; a Level 6 boat that brings back 195 fish for instance, would instead unload 244 fish while still only taking 195 fish out of the pool.
What???!!!???  Are you serious??   Then the info under the info button is false advertisement and needs to be changed ASAP!  (I have never actually used the chum, I was going by what the info stated). It clearly states "CATCH MORE FISH", it certainly doesn't say catch fish faster.  What a con on GGS's part.  Thanks Southern for correcting me on this.

@Val C (GB1) & @tyo2 (INT1)  I am sorry for any confusion.  However, Southern IS right about it actually being a speed booster and not an increase booster.  Only after loading the chum on the boat and hovering over the %increase does it actually show and clarify that it is a speed booster.

You answered my question with good intention Shay, and that should not be apologised for..

Thanks for that Shay...so if I have a pool with, say, 120 Tuna left, the chum will only allow me to catch all 120 quicker with the boats I use, and will not give any extra than the 120..

If you want to catch more, ask someone to charm your boat with the spooky fishing rod , this will give an extra 25% , can be very handy with shellfish   :)  :)

Ok, now I am even more confused.  I just tried the chum. Using the Lobster chum which has the highest speed bonus actually increased my time.  I tried it on tuna/herring and swordfish/cod/salmon and the time increased.  In order to use a chum I have to remove a Brigitte which also reduces time and obviously reduces more and at a cheaper cost.

As you can see from the comparison, the Lobster chum has added 3 minutes more on the clock. I have never used chum before and now I know NEVER to use it on any boats.

    Price comparison:
    Brigitte = $1,625
Lobster Chum = $23,625 Market price or $4,500 direct sales.

It would seem obvious Brigitte is cheaper and works better. So IMHO the chum is useless except for fishing XP if that is your thing or for use in the Lab.  I sure hope GGS plans on re-balancing the chum.
