hello I hop y'all are having a wonderful time here in the sewing group. Today we will be talking about learning about the sewing machine for beginners!
- Finding the power switch lol this might sound silly but it's sometimes a pain to find it (even more of a pain if your older). The power switch is normally on the right-side of the sewing machine but that can change depending on the type of sewing machine.
- Locate the spool pin. This is a plastic or metal pin that sticks up on the top and it holds your thread.
- Looking for the thread guide. The thread guide guides the thread to the boobin in winder. It sticks up on the left side of the machine
- Next find the boobin in winder. It helps fill your bobbin so you can sew!! It works together with the thread and the boobin winder stopper.
- Next look for the stitch adjustment buttons that is located on the front side of the machine. Depending on the machine. These buttons help you to change the stitch to whatever stitch you want.
- Next located the thread take-up lever. This is the lever located on the front side. This helps thread the machine so you can begin sewing.
- Next find the needle clamp screw. This is a metel piece that hold the needle tight while sewing. It is located under the arm of the sewing machine. Looks like a large nail and sticks out on the right side of the needle.
- Next find the presser foot. It should be pretty easy to find but if you can't find it, it will be located under the needle clamp screw. It holds the fabric down and guides you while your sewing.
- Next find the presser foot lever. It will be located to the back of the presser foot. It lifts the presser foot up and down when needed. Practice pushing it up and down so you can be used to it.
- Next look for the needle plate. The needle plate is a plate right under the needle. Simple enough right?
- Next the feed dog. Silly name right? Well that's it's name. It is located under the presser foot located to the south. It moves the thread through the machine while you sew.
- Hope it helps! Share what you make in a different discussion.
