missions with wildflowers

i love it when i get a mission for wildflowers... it is one of the highest scoring missions for  me, in terms of the number of certs and RP i earn.

but.... almost every time, the high ranked players (level 200+) shelve it.
It just happened again.... 3 of the 6 players , all over level 200, immediately shelved it
player #4 , also level 200+, didn't participate, score of zero
so even with just two peeps left, i still got about 200 certs and 30K RP
sounds good to me

why?  what strategy makes high level players shelf wildfower missions?
am I missing something?
(and why do i always have to compete against players level 200+)..but that's a different question ;)

    @momrulz (US1)

High level players may be simply logging in to collect milk or eggs and they use the stackmaster to shelve missions until they get the one they want.

Or perhaps they currently have other stuff growing in their fields for an event or village challenge..

Or perhaps they just don't feel like sitting there picking WFs every 2 minutes.

But when a player shelves a mission, same as when they do not participate, you get less points for the mission than you would had they participated.  (To me this is unfair, shelving a mission, in my opinion, is a forfeiture and points should be given to the winners for that.)

Maybe they're out of special seeds and don't want to sit harvesting every two minutes for half an hour...or they could just be looking for missions where they can offload their milk, eggs and pigs...or of course they may have just already completed another wildflower mission.  I'm level 225 and thanks to frequency of CCs and village challenges I have not had a chance to build up my special seeds supply  Personally I don't like the wildflower mission and if my stackmaster is active I will shelve and move on straight away..  Edited to add.  Don't forget there are also some good natured high level players who will move on to allow those with a lower level a chance of getting some good points.  without blowing my own trumpet I've been known to do that before now plus sparkle a few farms before I leave.

I personally like the option to shelve, and don't find it unfair at all.  I don't have a stackmaster, yet, so I can't shelve wildflowers.

When I sit there at zero during a wildflower mission, it means my fields are tied up with something else and I can't plant them.

I just turned Level 200 and the wildflower mission is one of my favorites too - I leave some fields planted with wildflower special seeds (as long as they last) throughout the CC's.  I have the stackmaster and love the ability to shelve but very rarely shelve missions with 0 of any product.  Thanks Val C for the idea of gifting a few charms when shelving - that's a great idea if you have a bunch of charms.

The Powerhouse production farm machine runs for an hour, so if players have activated it for the previous mission, they will often shelve a field mission and try for another stable mission so that the bonus isn't wasted :)

The handbooks are also more effective for wildflowers than they are for the other field missions, so someone who uses gold on special seeds will have to do a lot more golding to match someone with quick fingers, normal seeds and handbooks :D

I also love the wildflower missions, and I like to think that some of the high level players see my name, decide that it looks too much like hard work, and move on :D

As long as at least one other player produces some wildflowers, enjoy the mission and the points :)

Wow, you guys sure have a different experience with Wildflowers than I do!  I hate WF missions because, at least against the players I get matched against, you can't place higher than 4th unless you can drop about 20,000 wildflowers.   I'm not about to spend enough seaweed humus to come up with anywhere near that many.

I usually come in first with wildflowers, even though I have so few fields -- precisely because so many players walk away.  And no seaweed used.
