ps im still fuming lol
two things i learnt 1 is dont go anywhere near 10 per second and 2 is not to bother doing the hard work events hehehe
i will just have fun building up my farms instead
anyone know what's going on?
The 3 main things to look at, are:
If you do not use any equipment (or crew) & the basic settings for your boat say that you will catch 2 fish per hour, and the fishing time is less than 1 hour, then you will only catch 1 fish.
To catch more fish, you can add crew (or chum) to increase the number of fish per hour or you can add crew to increase the amount of time that you spend fishing or a combination of both.
As you increase the amount of fish that you are going to catch, always keep an eye on your storage, to make sure that you have room to carry them all, if not, you can add freezers.
If you are sending your boat to a location that has more than one type of fish, it will catch equal quantities of each type, but if you only want to catch one type that is at that location, you can add the specific equipment for that type of fish (for example a bent rod for swordfish)
If you still have some empty equipment slots when your boat is ready to go, you can add some of the 3rd type of crew, which will reduce the travel time (to & from) the location & make your overall trip quicker.
There are several posts claiming that it is better to use extra crew instead of Chum, you can decide that for yourself, but Chum is profitable to sell & also produces seaweed as a bi-product, so it is worth making even if you do not use it for fishing.
That is just the basics, once you see how it works you can look at other things such as hazard protection & work out your own personal strategy. As your boats get better, they have higher basic settings & more slots, so you will be able to catch larger quantities of fish in one trip.
I passed on your questions about the time drop from 9 points to 10 & as expected, it is intentional & how the event has always worked. 10 points is meant to be a short boost, not somewhere you can sit for hours at a time, otherwise everyone would just be on 10 points for the whole event & there would be no competition.
The balancer agrees that the drop from 9 to 10 is a drastic one, however, the suggested "fix" would be to make the transition from 8 to 10 more even, which would reduce how long you could run at 9 points. I suspect that you would prefer it to be left as it is now, (I know I would) - Post your comments & as always we will pass them on.
before we got the dock yard i used to struggle to keep a dollar balance of around 30 million due to upgrading and stuff, since it appeared it has paid for 5 plots on my main farm of which i now own all the plots available plus its paid for 4 more cow sheds and 5 more apple orchards, 4 more plots on my second farm and 2 on my 3rd farm, and im 4,000 dollars away from now having a dollar balance of 300 million dollars,
this is so not like GGS lol has me wondering if some other company made it
i love the dock yard
Personally whilst I like the transition from 8 to 10 to be more even to not seem like you're stepping off a cliff (which is what made it seem broken), and would encourage more variation of speed and competition in the top ranks (and make people work harder for the top ranks) - having one event where people can acquire the gold mining licenses (those who can only log in once a day specifically) is of great benefit to them and thus I'd agree with leaving things as they are.
I'm still curious about why going from difficulty 8 to 9 is only about three times more difficult, but 9 to 10 is some eighty (80!!) times more difficult. As I said before it's like stepping off a cliff after a minor decline. I imagine this won't be the last time people encounter it and wonder if it's broken though!
Fabulous Chart... Thanks.
Seems as if everyone in UK is at speed 9, as we are all firmly set in our positions relative to each other. I've been stuck in second place since the start, and the gap only changes when we change fishes...
Might give speed 10 a try though...!

Has management changed? Cause the game seems to have jumped from one ditch to another ditch. From extremely stingy to extremely generous. Both extremes can spoil the game play and create problems for future developement. In fact generous dollar income from deep sea fishing has already destroyed major part of farming strategy. I have a lot of thoughts and observations in this regard, just no time to analyse every detail, type it and post it.
Anyway, extremely steep drop from 9 to 10 can actually be seen as an advantage, a usefull part of timing strategy for occasions when you're running on speed 9 and want to go to next crate quickly before leaving home for long time to avoid long hours on zero if current crate is due to finish soon. No complaints regarding this from me for now.
Thanks for sharing!
PS. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with the way it is setup. I guess I am fine with it. It was just such a drastic drop, I think it completely shocked me. At least I know now from experience to prepare differently.
In the meantime, I am drinking my freshly squeezed lemonade and still going for the money fish (swordfish) even though a shrimp hole did open up.
Thank you WascallyWabbit for looking into this for the concerned players.
Also ... try freshly squeezed shrimp-ade chum. I've got bushels to spare.
@Scifi (GB1) - I shake my fist at your 9 points whilst I tried running at 10 points and falling flat on my proverbial face. Twice I was in second place, twice I tried lobsters and salmon at 10. Much wiser now. C'est la vie. Still, I'll nip at your heels right at the end!
I would thank you for this valuable threads for a few things
1- thanks to you , I saved my rank at top 5 players, cause I did not know b4 that salmon and lobster acted in an odd way when comparing them to tuna and herring when jump from 9 to 10 points rate. and they both were next on my boxes so to make it short, I would have moved them to 10 points and lose my rank but now I am at 9 points and saved the day
2- for inspiring tuyukusa (JP1), to give us this nice charts so BIG thanks to him/her and to the original author in Hungarian forum ( bty what a player from japan server was doing in Hungarian forum is beyond me . lol just kidding )
3- what I liked the most is your ability to ignore negative comments, and ignoring is what they deserve. so thank you for that silent lesson too
finally please WascallyWabbit tell the developer to leave the event as it is now the idea of making it more hard from 8 to 9 points is not nice. the other farm hard work event is hard enough so leave this one fairly easy.and keep most of us smiling
tuna 9 per second for 14 hours move to 10 per second and got 7 hours
i was totally wiped out with time on lobsters 9 per second 24 hours 10 per second 45 minutes
down in the 80's ranking wise because of this
doesnt make any sense to me
but i guess ggs know best
