HWE - May 12, 2017

Lylu (INT1)Lylu (INT1) INT1 Posts: 448
I believe we just crossed 24 hours since the current HWE started (it could be that it started at 0900 EDT, but I am remembering 0800 EDT).  If anyone noted the correct start time, please help by posting.

Usually the HWE timer starts at " ~3 days " ; indicating that the run will be more than 72 hours but less that 96 hours.  Then a few hours after the event start this timer changes to " ~2 days " ; indicating that the remaining run has dropped below 72 hours but is still more than 48 hours.  (Many people are still confused by the "~" symbol meaning "approximately")

My question/observation is this: The timer on my silo still reads "~3 days".  Even if GGS programmed the event to run longer this time around (like a full 96 hours), it should have changed to read "~ 2 days" by now.  Has anyone else noticed the same thing on their silo?

During the event, I frequently check if I'm on-track, by calculating how many points/sec I have to average for the remaining time in order to achieve the final prize.  Not knowing the actual remaining time makes playing the event this time around a bit more difficult and slightly frustrating.

PS - yes I have cleared caches already.  My US1 farm is showing "~2 days", but INT1 is where I'm seeing the issue.

Edit#2 - The other piece of information that I would like to find out from anyone whose timer has been working is when did your timer switch from ~3 days to ~2 days.  This way I can figure the actual time remaining on the event.

Our moderator Rowdy Rac gave us the exact starting time of HWE in their Mod's Bulletin News (2 pm CEST) :) , see this link:

Thanks @Jiesta (NL1) - I had forgotten about that post.  only solves one part of my issue though - Confirms that my timer definitely should have changed from ~3days to ~2days since the event has definitle y been running for more than 24 hours.

the other piece of the puzzle I need is WHEN did the timer actually change to "~2days" for those whose timer is working, since this time will inform when the actual end time of the event occurs.

One of the mods posted a long time ago, I think, that if the timer says "2 days," you have at least 2 full days plus partial 3rd day -- anywhere from an additional 1 minute to 23 hours 59 minutes.  Really precise, huh?

I have been suggesting for years that all the timers for everything be consistent and show exactly how much time is left.  Ideal format, for example:  3 days, 14 hours, 8 minutes, 21 sec, or, if they insist, 157 hours, 43 min, 34 sec.  Something like that.  They have precise timers for lots of things, it needs to be universal.

I checked 'my George's Silo' and the timer went from 3 days to 2 days at exactly 2 pm today, CEST. So my timer is running OK. Don't know if this helps (if you compare this with your timezone I mean)? Anyhow now that I gave you the right time CEST when our timer changed to 2 days; you should now be able to determine your own time zone, right?

IMHO your Opening Post was written at 2:46 pm CEST as I can see in my screen, so at that moment your timer should have shown already 2 days for 46 minutes. If not, then this might be a bug at the INT1 server, worthwhile to mention to our Mod's.

This kind of timer generally works fine for me, I don't really need precise timers or everything exactly spelled out for me .... the game has to have some challenges left for us IMHO. When the timer gets 1 second under 24 hrs it will show 1 day less. Don't know if I said that right in English, but 3 days = 72 hours and when the timer reaches 71.59 the timer will show only 2 days.

If the HWE is running on a full timer, it's 78 hours long; 3 days, 6 hours.

That means it would flip over to ~2 days around 3pm EST today (which apparently Jiesta confirmed, but I don't know what time zone he's referring to.) :)

That was the way it was for me the last two HWEs.  This time, it's back to apples, milk, and eggs.

I've had milk and eggs, but no apples yet. Sure it's just the luck of the draw.
  • HWE is another one of my favorite ggs events, well i still can't make it to gold license rewards since I need a hellotof more lands to buy and upgrades to do still, but easy good prizes to win from this event just by being active
  • this time change is actually pretty huge; now a lot of people can get gold mining licenses.

Actually you can win hard worker quite easily as long as you have seaweed fertilizers and make sure to do timings correctly (sleeping for milk and apples).

but now instead of 400,000 points per day, we only need 300,000 points per day (just 3.5 points per second).
  • Yea I managed to reach 1mil + little more last time, but still I can't make it to 1.2mil unless I use too many seaweed stuff/ or spend little gold (like 2-3 times skip useless/bad timing products) but as you mentioned too yes I think it is a do-able event now, but even aside from the gold licenses I still love this event, without even bothering much with it one can still get some decent prizes everytime :)

Usually when HWE starts it shows 3 days, but this time I noticed that it showed 4 days. And 6 hrs later it changed to 3 days. So quite obvious this time, the event is for longer duration.

Well, for me, the line-up of the items for the Hardworker Event is awful for me.  The long running products such as apples and barley are all placed in the wrong sequence for me.  So I do my best and take as many of the goodies as I can get.  I will never be in the top 50 with the line-up of stuff that has been doled out to me, but who cares.  I would have to use a ton of gold in order get those 2 gold mining certs. I have other things more important in mind for my bit of gold.

When I get wildflower or corn, I do a "short" harvest.  I harvest just one field, then wait for the clock to run out so I can move on to the next thing.  (Unless, of course, I need to kill time before the next thing is ready to harvest. -- it's not an exact science.  LOL!)

I do the short harvest for Cabbage only ( just one field). When I get wildflower or corn I harvest as much as I can for as long as I can. Easy to get it to max for them.

Good point, MRG1.  I should clarify, I do the short harvest when I need to go to bed or leave and want to get to the milk or apples so I can walk away.
  • My lineup finally after 3-4 times of apples, eggs,wf,Jasmine and barley has so far went to:
    wildflower
    corn
    cabbage
    wildflower
    eggs
    corn
    dandelion
    wildflower
Could use a long running one now :)
I use short harvest on cabbage as well.

that's not exactly the best way to do hard worker unless you are online 24/7. Cabbage is one of the best products and i recommend always skipping wildflower and corn :)

I once joked to team mates that HW would start Friday afternoon  and finish Thursday evening and then CC would start Friday morning  and finish Thursday evening ,giving those dedicated players a few hours to do their own thing, now it feels like an omen because GGS have extended HW . I farm for myself now, if collecting something needed for HW all well + good , but I no longer try, did at first ,used up seaweed to get machine running at 7 or above , don't win enough seaweed to do that every 2 weeks for a longer time.

I find cabbage boring. I hate everything to do with cabbage (pigs, and pig feed). If I have to make cabbage I usually leave the game to do something else for 45 min or longer, as it just takes too long. I am not actually trying to win the event, just get a few nice prizes, and planting cabbage for hours while starving my poor Chickens is not conducive to a well-functioning farm

My Updated list: (All field items except Eggs, 2 times very close together)
    Corn
    Dandelions
    wildflowers
    Barley
    Cabbage
    Corn
    wildflower
    Dandelion
    Corn
    Eggs
    wildflowers
    Corn
    Eggs
    Jasmine
    wildflowers
    Corn
    Cabbage

That still doesn't make sense to me. If you are a casual player, cabbage is one of the best ones to play. I agree its a useless crop though.

Two special cabbage seeds + 2 premimum hummus is 6 hours at 4 points, which is 86000 points (enough for more than half the rewards).

To me HW is really important event because i'm a free player and the gold mining licenses help a lot. Cabbage is the second best one after dandelion.

    86,000 X 2 =172,000. My max needed
     is 1,200,000
I would love the GML.  I am not a casual player, I do not buy or use gold either, but neglecting my farm for 3 days harvesting a useless crop for 2000 gold earned from GML is not my idea of fun.

Okay, so 860,000 gets you more than half way there.  Got it.  But the special cabbage seeds take hours to grow.  You'd have to be lucky and have 4 hours left on the previous crop, or use seaweed hummus.  As I refuse to use what little seaweed hummus I can get my hands on, I'd have to be extremely organized.

However, worth looking into next time.
