more clay, rocks, sand

Ok you need rocks, clay, and sand to build and also make things yet we get so few as it is just a by-product from wood.  You end up needing twice that of the wood so why not boost the by-product numbers or make it so we can make just them with out the wood.

I am tired of having to sell all my wood just for clay or rocks.

It would be the same with say apples. You need then for the bakery and also for events. If you were not allowed to grow them and they were only a by-product of cherries you would never have what you needed.

Please make some adjustments!!!!

I agree, I end up selling spruce all the time just to have enough rocks. What makes it worse is you have to go into the farm management to sell so you'll get village dollars.

When I need rocks I plant spruce on cabbage then keep planting wildflowers during the penalty time to get more rocks. The info says you get between 0 - 21 but I've never gotten more than 3 rocks during penalty.
  • If you sell the spruce wood for village dollars, you don't need to use the bank...   I have not used the bank at all since the game started.

You can also switch by-products during a penalty phase.

For instance, let's say you grow some wheat, with Bamboo. When you harvest, you'll have a penalty phase where your by-product is clay.

However, if during the penalty phase you grow corn with spruce, you'll change the by-product of that field to rocks, and it'll stay that way until the penalty time expires (or until you grow something else, like maybe Corn with Poplar, to switch the by-product to Sand).

This way if you have a long penalty timer, like from wheat or from another type of long-growing crop like Sunflowers, you aren't just "stuck" with clay, rocks, or sand.  Grow the WOOD you need, then during the penalty phase switch it up to the BY-PRODUCT you need. :)

I usually grow Willow or Poplar first, since I seem to go through a lot of that, then during the penalty phase I'll grow a Corn/Spruce to switch the by-product to rocks, then finish out the penalty with Wildflowers and just soak up as many rocks as I can. :)

If you plant Edge Crops in the penalty phase, it will cost you a lot, as they will only yield 30%....   Making you a loss..

I don't care. I'm not growing it for the corn & spruce, I'm just switching the by-product. The "cost" for that is negligible.

Something I noticed RE: rocks (and I assume sand & clay will also be this way) - wondering if any other farmers have had this similar experience and if Mods could check whether this is intended or is a bug:

If you have collected a full warehouse of an edge plant by-product (in my case rocks) then when you harvest a field that would give more of that by-product, instead of getting a pop-up to sell excess product, the field no longer produces that by-product (ie. you get zero rocks from the harvest because your warehouse is full).

I was focused so much on building a good stash of rocks, that I lost a lot of potential rocks/dollars from this before I realized it was happening.

@Lylu (INT1) yes, if I have a full inventory of rock, sand or clay, I will not be able to collect more til the inventory drops.
