You used to be able to hire these characters to improve your main farm production. Now they mostly just visit your farm.

Eva Apple - hippie girl driving a VW beetle, lost her bees.
Benny Buddler - sells you stuff, both for gold and related to the temp farms
Lilly Littlefoot - gives some tasks in the flower farm
Matilda MacMuffin - gives some tasks in the gourmet farm.
