myself and a coop member have same problem too.

I did a support ticket on this a few days ago, since I've been stuck ever since and was told they are aware and are trying to find the solution and get it resolved as quickly as possible.

I had the same problem. But I think I have an idea why the "invisible line" occurs ... or better said, when. It happened twice for me. Always when in background is assigned a new mission. I have started search for new mission, then going to fish ... while fishing, new mission is assigned (in background)  and ... no more fishing .

Or maybe occurs also when a mission is finished while fishing (and that pop-up window with mission ranks is displayed in background).

Maybe anyone else can reproduce this ?! 

@ Dami2008 the invisible line for me happens even without missions.

I agree MRG1. I'm unclear as to what the function of the test farms is expected to be. It cautions us that the test farm is not intended to be played like the actual game, and we are encouraged to give feedback, but the feedback seems to have been ignored in the case of the fishing game.  So I feel I wasted my time.

I have been working my way slowly through the new fishing part of the game. I did not try the test server because a) I didn't know where to find it and b) I have a life apart from the farm.
You really haven't listened at all to the feedback you received from those that tested it for you, as there are still several bugs.
1) fishing on main farm, invisible line so can't catch anything.
2) task bar now tells me to catch cat fish but where are these illusive creatures?
3) take the boat it says, where is the boat?
4) the tutorial is any thing but, I am not a fisherman so do not understand fishing terms and trying to come to terms with the fact that, whilst some fish are better caught with certain type of rod,bait , hook etc I am unable to buy anything but the most basic tackle. 
No wonder real fishing is such a bore.

#1) So far the best way around the invisible line is to be sure that when you want to cast to click on a fish under the water surface, hopefully on the type of fish you wish to catch.
#2) For the catfish you need catfish bait and to check on your main and or Gourmet farms. #3) The boat will become available once you reach level 15 as a fisher person

I too was having the invisible line issue - though it seems to be resolved, I can't seem to fathom how to level up with fishing. I have been fishing for days - no advancement. What am I missing?

It seems I also have the envious task of catching catfish. Have read all the posts and I am not the only one battling with this. Where the dickens are these guys? Under the deep blue sea? lol. A bit of help would be appreciated, a hint, a compass, anything. I've come a long way for a newbie, but this one really has stumped me.

I am on Fishing Level 26.  My new task is "Patience is silver, but hooks are golden."  I bought 3 heavy minnow hooks and are in my tackle box.  The next step is to use 1 heavy minnow hook and go fishing---this does not work---when trying to fish:  no line to use the hook therefore can't catch any fish.  Tried this many times over the last 3 days & does not work.  This "Go Fishing" window does not work.  I have no trouble with the other features.  Please fix the "Go Fishing" feature as I see many others have same problem.

I saw the previous comments to NOT buy the large bucket before the Stay UP to Date task.  I was at a medium level 4 bucket when the task came up.  So, since the task came up, I purchased the large bucket and even got it to level 2, but it does not register as being completed on the task.  How do I get it marked as completed?  Does it expect all the upgrades of the large bucket first?  I am at fishing level 18, so I know I can't get the carbon pole yet, but it should mark the large bucket as completed

I cannot get past the invisible line First go fine, any after invisible line Shut game,  any fish  caught not registered so am on fishing level 1. To add insult to injury ,the fish pulled a face at me

It tells me I need to take the fishing boat out and fish myself to finish a contract but I cannot find a boat anywhere

Many players on the Dutch Server have the same problem at level 25-26 with these heavy minnow hooks.

You need to be a level 15 fishing person to get access to the boat which will appear near the same pier as Oleg is standing on your Flower farm

Still having both the big bucket bug and the invisible line bug. So no use renting boats and can't advance in the fishing tasks. Oh well. Guess this update was not ready for prime time yet. Sad.

I haven't seen any fish that are not under the surface of the water so that part of your answer that directs me to 'click on a fish under the water' confuses me somewhat but thank you for the help as to why I can't find a boat yet. would have been better if the boat was visible but when you click on it , message tells you available from level 15.

im not going on the boats til its sorted, could only do 2, so the tasks av come to a standstill, not wasting money on it , til its sorted.
any idea when its going to be sorted , some countries av had it sorted on the 31st. no mention about the uk .

wheres the boats for oleg to rent???   I'm stuck (on level 12) I have mermaid bay and making food  and now I need to catch a boat (catfish) ?? apparently another building or boats should be somewhere but a cant find it

You should get the boat soon.........I can't remember exactly what level, but around 14 (maybe)??  and with the fishing line constantly staying invisible, it's not worth it yet..........It will cost you around 54K to rent it, and THEN YOU CAN'T FISH!!!!  because of the invisible line, and if you try to go back and add bait, you LOSE your boat!!  Catfish can be found in Main Farm creek, and Gourmet Farm pond........buy catfish bait, put it in your tackle box(have catfish bait ONLY in there), and when you pull up the fishing "screen" , it will show a pic of a catfish at the bottom tab on left, click it and add however many catfish bait you bought and they will pop up.........they are hard to catch, so be sure you have a good reel, and strong line.........they snap your line easily.......Happy Fishing!!

Why if your rod doesnt throw in the line in the water you can'swing your rod again, but you have to exit the fishing screen and then enter it again to be able to swing the rod? That's the most annoying thing in the gam

That is the question of the day!!  I wondered the same thing, until someone told me, lol........Look for catfish in the Main Farm creek and the Gourmet Farm pond, However, you have to be equipped with catfish bait ONLY.........Try to catch as many of the existing fish as you can, so they won't be in your way when you get ready to catch the cats.........When you're ready to fish for the catfish, click on the pic of catfish on your "bait tab" to the left of your fishing "screen" .........an arrow will pop up next to it......click it as many times as the number of bait you bought, and they will pop up!  Happy Fishing!!
