My "go fishing" seems to be working reasoneably well after the fix having just some intermintent glitches here and there, although I stopped fishing on my own for now as it is a dolar pit and I want to invest into land expansion and some upgrades first. Apart from that, after analysing fishing mechanics the fishing itself quickly became boring. Maybe will take it as a short diversion at time, but don't plan to come back to any extensive fishing anyway even if I had nothing else to ditch my dollars into.  Also stuck at the quest asking for gold. Not that I couldn't afford it, just don't like the idea very much, so waiting if GG makes some corrections to it. Which means that atm i'm playing a slow fishing, sending Oleg out for fish and cooking the first two dished at Mermaid, stuck at fishing level 11 for now. It gives some little profit even at this low end, both fish and the dishes, but not even enough to make up for lost profit from boat due to unlocked event crates. Kind of reminds me the first two recipes for Flower Shop. Since after first testing and necessary investment to progress through quests I froze my investments into Oleg's business for some time I'm sort of playing with the idea of keeping fishing as slow self-supporting game, meaning that I will only send Oleg for expereince when he makes himself money for the trip from fish and dish sales. Won't give him any more donations from elsewhere for now. Well at least not untill I have time to calculate profit from other Mermaid dishes. There might be something in it that will make me want to speed up. Anyways, progress with fishng is simply either slow or expensive or goldies, but I reckon the balance seems decent.

Btw I noticed that fish stock is not subject to barn space limit, which is probably good, if it makes any big difference at all.

After game recovery from major bug shock I think I like this fishing so far. With some reservations towards "forced" gold spending in quests and a few other isues it seems to me like fairly decent and potentially enjoyable part of the game.

As from the start I couldn't fish because of the missing line (no matter how often I tried or refreshed) and now - since the latest update - I have all kind of stuff in my tackle box (never bought it, never dragged it into the box) which I can't remove out of it .... and when I click on "Go fishing!" in the tutorial, it says: "Error: not all conditions are fulfilled" (which is not true, cos everything is there: fishing pole, hook, line, reel - only many more and of higher quality than I ever purchased) ... Aaarchch!!  Happens on every fishing location.

Whenever I am on my Flower Farm and look out over sea where I see all of your fishing ships at the horizon ... I get sad, very sad!      

I guess this fishing event is just not for me ...

I am sorry fishing does not work for you. Hope this can help:

1) Are you talking about test server or normal one. Namely, latest version was not instaled on a test server and test server is still buggy

2) When you open a tackle box (ring meny -> left side), on a left side you will see your equpment that you have at home and on a right side is what is in the tackle box. You have to move things form left side to the right side of window. At the bottom right side, there is indicator of the equpment. The staff that are missing have red exclamation marks above them

3) Did you follow the tasks on a flower farm? You have to follow the tasks, to unlock fishing.

This is how my tackle box looks like: yellow is equipment from home, black is what is in the tackle box, red is indicator. I have all the equipment, so there is a go fishing button by the indicator.

How the heck do you find out what level of fisher you are???  can't find it anywhere

if time runs out, just catch it again right away or even cut the line before time runs out and reel it in some more

better gear (especially the fishing line) will help with larger fish like catfish and the other more difficult fish

Sorry DataKing those weren't much help. They know how to fish for them, they are just having problem reeling them to the surface before time runs out.

 Greycat If time runs out the line breaks and you have to try again. This is what is frustrating them.

 We tell them once it gets to orange range on tension bar to Release or unclick mouse for a second ot two. And repeat until reel fish or line break or time runs out. Not sure what else to tell.

Ok then your best bet is to save up for better equipment, like the line. You may also have to level up as a fisher person in order to buy the better equipment.

OK, I have been enjoying the reliable (but late) fishing line.  Thank you GGS for the fix.  Now I am going nuts trying to "use" the sophisticated bass bait they had me buy.  First they say while fishing, open up the equipment inventory on the right.  The only inventory I have is on the left.  Then they say click on the sophisticated bass bait.  I have tried that, but when I am done fishing, my quest does not register as complete.  I am still 0/1.  I have tried having the sbb lined up in the first slot when I go to fish.  I have tried some other bait in the first slot so I will ;have to select it. I have tried reselecting it when it is already in the first slot. Has ANYONE been successful in this quest, and how did you do it?

Sounds like you must have completed the quest I am stuck on.  Use sophisticated bass bait.  Have tried on all three farms and on the boat, and it still shows 0/1.  Can you tell me the trick?  Anyone?

The rate at which the fishing levels get farther apart is not good.  People play this game for fun.  They will get bored and stop.    I can do the math.  It will take many, many months to reach a decent level.  I have a level 275 farm.  I am number 21 in rank on the server.  A smaller farm has little chance to accomplish this.

Oleg has his secrets. When he is out fishing he won't talk to you. After he comes home, click Oleg, Send Oleg fishing, and before you send him check there top right corner of that screen. Nowhere else it shows as far as I know.

I tend to agree with you but this is a long term game as Data King will ever remind us. LOL  Does seem like it is going to take a long time to reach a good point. Hopefully farming will keep people more entertained

I have some new info: 
One member said she can't catch anything from two of the fishing holes (gourmet and Main) and no matter what she does the Fish (catfish, even bass and carp etc) stays at the bottom.
I asked a lot of questions to make sure she was doing everything right, and she seemed to be.
She is level 15 with all upgraded gear.

The fishing hole thing makes me thing she is experiencing a bug or something, she fiiled a ticket wit support and is waiting on that.

I like the big gaps and the challenge to go up lvls,  I am still only lvl 23 and got a long way to go to get to level 61 which is where you start to get seaweed.  It is good that it is challenging.  It is hard for small farms it is hard for large farm I am lvl 290, but the long term challenge is good for me.  This is also the reason I do not buy gold any more and have not for over 30months, I prefer to do this as challenge and not just buy my way through the game.  It will take a lot of patients and hard work

I have a task to buy a carbon fiber pole.  Yet, there are many more levels to get through to get to it.  This keeps one from getting to the tasks that follow it.

You get fishing xp's for bringing in fish.  If you hire Oleg to get fish, you will get xp's for that.  If you do them yourself, you get xp's for that.  If you "hire a boat" and then send Oleg out, you don't get xp's  This seems wrong.

But you make a lot more $$$ if you send Oleg then do yourself, hence why you get no XP.  But I do not hire boat at all as it is not worth doing it yourself, better to buy the bait then to hire the boat.

If you close the minigame & open it again, the fish all move to different places. The only time I have had them behaving weirdly was when something went wrong that should have crashed the minigame, but it didnt`, it appeared to be working, but some very strange things were happening. Get her to reload her game (CTRL+F5) to see if that makes her fish behave normally again. If not, some screenshots would be good.

Not sure how the timer "wait for more fish" is supposed to work, but it's probably bugged also. When I now visit one place, catch one fish, I can come back. Another place, which I only visited, without catching anything,and which was obviously full of fish when I left it,  tells me to wait for more fish.

Since it gave me near 30 mins timer I realise now that it was broken all the while as when I was fishing on larger extent before it often gave me something like 10 or less minutes timer. Looks like it activated long after it set off? At that time it did allow me to enter in again and only blocked me when all the fish was gone, or mostly all gone. Never reliable but I didn't bother with it at that time as there was bigger problem with invisible fishing line.

Expected function? 30 mins cool down timer after all fish in the pool had been caught?

Anyone experiencing the same fishy behaviour of the cool down timer?

EDIT: And then it let's me in a few mins later, although the timer was 26 mins at the last visit, and all the fish is gone. Again I realise it had this funny behaviour before, I just didn't bother with it as bugs were too many. Oh no, not all, thare is a small carp at the bottom left. Reminding that I just visited this place, didn't fish for anything.

EDIT 2: And now the other place, where I did caught one fish but which allowed me to get in afterwards, tells me to wait for more fish with 8 mins timer. All messed up ............. just wanted to say.

EDIT 3: Well the first place with the timer, which let me in (edit 2) too early, now has timer again, abut 4 mins ........... timers jumping around. Well, enough reporting. Fix it GG!

Hooray!! Invisible line is fixed and (all)most everything works just fine. I won advanced dolfin baits from mission, then trying to add them into the tacklebox, they disappeared. After that, error 7. Mail sent to the support...let's see how they reply this time:))

Please fix the problem with the fishing XP and fishing level infomation. It is possible to see your fishing level and XP only when the fishermen is at the port and isn't sent to go fishing. There isn't a menu where you can see them if he's gone.

Did you click the green arrow next to the bait tab to use the bait?

I used a lure to get some pickerel, and after catching two, I stopped for a moment (I kept the fishing interface open) to do something else. When I came back, some 10-13 minutes later, I fished for another one or two, and suddenly they all swam off the screen. I only have a picture of the aftermath, sadly.

Is this an error or are the fish meant to disappear over time?

I retried it, this time with one lure. I waited for 11 minutes.
