Co-op Leader MIA

Our co-op leader has been inactive for weeks.  Can it be changed to another member.  I would hate to leave or loose all we have accomplished.

  • According to another post... if the leader is MIA about 32 days, the highest deputy takes over.

  • Sorry if this has already been answered in another thread, but I can't find it if it's here. I'm wondering what happens if your co op leader wants to retire temporarily. Our co op leader would like to take a break and let someone else be leader for a while. Is it possible for them to go back to being the leader again if/when they would like to do that again? Thanks for any info---our leader needs a break for a while but may want to resume leadership again at a later time. I appreciate the help! :)

The leader can hand leadership over to anyone they trust to hand it back at a later date, but I don't think its a good idea been gone for months , a few week at the most.

@Lesley52 (GB1) is right there Farmer Loki (US1) The leader has the power to assign the leadership to whom ever they see fit. Or if the leader goes MIA for 32 to 35 days in a row and has not passed on the leadership then the next highest active deputy would be assigned the leadership .

    Well yes and no :).

Your leader has to find someone from your coop whom she/he trusts, who is willing to lead the coop during her/his absence and is willing to turn back the leasership when she/he comes back. Your leader than just has to appoint him/her to a leader (similar as you appoint depudies). Nevertheless unespected  things may happen:

    1. New leader may change his/her mind and wont give the leadership back to the old leader when she/he comes back.
    2. Coop members may not like a new temporary leader and may leave the coop.
    3. New leader may  stop playing or leave the coop for some reason and doing so  carelessly pass the leadership to a third person.....

Normally, there should be no problem, but the things should not be done carelessly. Your leader has to  think hard to whom is she/he giving the leading possition and talk to that person about all possible situations. And , of course, inform the coop about what is going on.

Thanks so much.  :) Our leader has been the head of our co op for 3 years and would like to have someone else assume the responsibilities for now--she's been a great leader but just wants a break. Otherwise, we might have to disolve the co op and try and join another co op that will take all of our members. I'm thinking about giving it a shot as leader, but just in case she would want to do it again at a later time, I'm glad that she could go back to doing it if that were the case. I'm thinking of even maybe taking turns being leader with another one of our long standing members. I value the friendships over the rankings of our co op, so I'm hoping I can do a decent job if I take over for now so we all stay together. Thanks again---I really appreciate the info. Have a super day! o:)

As I understand it, apart from booting people, there is very little that a leader can do that a deputy can't. It  is probably posible therefor for you and the other deputies to take on all of her responsibilities but leave her as figurehead if that would suit better.  :¬)

Problem is, she would not stay a figurehead for long. After 32 days the leadership will pass to first deputy.

    That's true @aaabbb1 (INT1)
. I was assuming that she wanted to keep playing but without the responsibilities and pressure.  :¬)

Newer player I am level 37...joined a start up coop...my founder has gone red dot, along with another member....I see we have applicants to join....but I am stuck not being able to do anything....Help !!

You have 2 options. Leave the co op or wait for the leadership to past to the next highest active deputy in about 32 to 35 days.

If the coop founder just turned red dot, s/he has been absent just one week, so they might return. If not, like DK said, you'll have to wait it out.

    Are the deputies active?

I am the only active deputy...other deputy is red dot also....only one other member in our coop

Well, you might want to consider joining a larger coop that's already established.  Hope it all works out for you soon!
  • You could also message the applicants, see if they fit in your co-op, and accept or decline them as a Deputy... that is if it that would be ok with the Leader. Either way it sounds like you have the 2 options Data King and Artful suggested, you may want to consider joining an established or different co-op or wait and see what happens with this one.

@Data King (US1) I have always wanted to know what happens to the members if there is an inactive leader. Thank you.

Apart from booting people and making/unmaking deputies, I don't think there is anything that a leader can do that a deputy can't so I would suggest that you just get on and lead. When the boss is away his/her deputy makes the decisions.  :¬)

I'm hanging in there....no matter what.  I did the coop challenge solo...brought the coop up to the top 100 in rookie...ugh.   Love this game !!!  Still learning though.

Not much we went through it about a year ago now and about the only hassle was the wait period for the leadership to change over to the next highest active deputy. We were able to do the co op projects, compete in the team events and continue to improve our farms.
  • and what if the leader chose not to have deputies, demoted them, a small group without deputies etc, would leadership go to next highest in level, or to first to come to member?

Hey @dld farmer (US1) That's correct, if there are no deputies in the cooperative the leadership would pass to the next highest ranked member. :)
  • our leader is a red dot and has not been online for several weeks. the next highest deputy online doesn't want to be leader. I am prepared to lead but then if the original leader comes back what do we do. again I would be prepared to hand it back. Our team is filling with players who came in for the holidays and now we cannot remove them
  • our founder AND our leader are missing, can  BGG replace the leader?
  • can someone reply to my game email please as I cannot locate a reply to my post

Has the next highest Deputy been made leader? The coop leader is the only one who can pass the leader position to another member or to a returning Leader. He or she has to click on the name of the person in the member's list who they want to make leader and a box pops up where they can change the status of the member to Leader.  :)

You can also contact support. If your leader has been gone for a while they can change leadership to another player.

I belonged to a co-op for a short period where that happened. Support made me leader and i then passed the leadership on to another member.

    Hope this helps.
