Cheap Shot

Yesterday I'm happily collecting eggs and chocolate bunnies for the prize that is now changed to a freaking tree that I got last year.  The ORIGINAL PRIZE for the event is now being sold for gold in the special offer box top row middle item
That's just cheap, and crappy.  Does GGS's balance sheet and profit and loss reports LOOK THAT BAD????  If they do here's a suggestion, change the amount of gold you can purchase BECAUSE IT'S NOT REAL GOLD, and give us better reasons to spend our money with your company FOR A COMPUTER GAME.  And please stop with the cheap shots

by the way -  what about the players that already completed the event and rec'd original deco as per event   hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

Yes, about the change in prize for the Easter event.  Its called bait and switch. Change the deco back to the ORIGINAL prize.

If this is the way GG is planning on moving forward, then you can count on a lot of players not having faith in GGS's business practise. By the way, the bad news spreads at 10x  faster rate then good news. If its a business decision for this error in judgement, then your the editor of your own demise.

I finished the event yesterday and didn't get the original deco that was in the display box; I got the deco that is posted now along with the flag. So nothing new or different for me.

It was posted in the announcement  (on the EN Server Forum) that the deco was going to change today and that it was a display error.

If I'm not mistaken someone did post the link on this forum somewhere yesterday to inform this forum of the changes and the announcement about the new changes to the coop challenge.

  • Bait and switch is a valid reason to initiate a chargeback if you've paid for any gold related to the event/item in question.

Well the way I see it is it's a lot like going to the grocery store or any store for that matter.  If there's a sign posted that that item is on sale for say 1.49 and you put said item in your cart.  You get to the register and said item rings up at 2.59.  I can pretty much guarantee there's going to be a discussion with the cashier and or manager.  You, as a merchant, honor what is posted in your store for the price of the item and honor the said posting price of said item irregardless. Why you ask would they do this.  BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO REMAIN A CUSTOMER.  Just because someone who works in that store didn't do their job, it is not the customers fault and almost every store I've shopped in honors what they have advertised on the shelf, and then promptly goes to remove the sign.  I'd bet my bottom dollar that there isn't anyone out there that wouldn't tell that cashier to 1.  Either give the price as ADVERTISED or 2. Put the item back on the shelf.    99.9% of the time you will get the advertised price. Any shopper worth their salt knows this.

Seems to be a awful lot of players paying for GGS's inability to pay attention to details prior to putting an update out there.  This is not the players fault, this is the fault of GGS for not checking, and I personally feel that as a player, I should not have to pay for one of their employees mistakes.  And as far as posting a "memo" here, let me tell ya a little something.  I, like a lot of other players here, don't spend hours running through all the postings in here. There is also no reason GGS can not send out a private message to every players inbox when something like this happens.  IT'S A COMPUTER PROGRAM.  You can pretty much do what you want with the program YOU WROTE.  But that's just my personal opinion.  I don't need nor want another pink tree.  I was very excited about a new deco and worked hard to get all the items needed for that deco.  So it still is a cheap shot and it still is a crappy move .

By the way, I know someone who is a gamer for a major XBox programmer.  All he does is sit and play the games they create and locates glitches and/or troubles in the game PRIOR TO IT BEING SOLD so the developer can correct any problems.  Makes very good money at it too.  SUBTLE HINT GGS

Seems like they have a system in place to immediately block your farm if you initiate a chargeback.

I mean, all that's going to do is entitle me to any and all prior payments still within the time frame of a chargeback.  Is that really wise of them to do?

From an accounting point of view, this is pretty stupid. Most merchant service companies will notify the payee that a chargeback has been initiated, however some do take the monies out of the payee's bank account immediately.  THEN issue a notice, some don't even issue a notice just take the money, it truly depends upon which merchant processor you are utilizing.  Said merchant processor then has the funds in their account drawing interest until said dispute between payee and payor is settled.  This can in some cases take up to 60 days.  The actual Credit Card Company, mastercard, disc, visa, amex, or the card holder doesn't see the credit back until the merchant processor has handled the dispute.  In the US ALL disputes are handled by one company and let me tell you it is a nightmare to get an answer.  Paypal and other processors outside of actual credit cards are different.  Most credit cards can't go back on a dispute past six months, paypal and others, from my understanding can go back to the beginning of time.  Also if you use paypal for gold here, it costs more that you pay for by the way,  currency transition fee.   But again, it truly depends upon the credit processor and country
  • I used Paypal, except for one time when I used a credit card and the card added some tiny amount like 2-3¢.  With Paypal it was always the exact stated amount.

But within seconds of initiating my dispute, my farm disconnected and I got a popup saying "Your farm has been blocked.  Please contact the support team."  That's it, no reason given, and no violation of TOS on my part.  I combed through the TOS to see if there was any sort of provision for "If you raise a complaint we'll ban you," which would be an unconscionable and unenforceable term even if it were in there...but in either case it's not.  So I did contact support, if only to let them know they in fact breached their ~own~ TOS by blocking my account in this fashion.  Worst of all, a Paypal dispute isn't even the action that gets you a refund, that just alerts the seller to a problem and gives them a chance to resolve things before you escalate it to a claim.

So as mentioned above, I went methodically through my paypal and disputed and subsequently escalated to claim every transaction to GGS.  Things I have paid for have been taken from me without cause or notice, and I'm not going to stand for it.  A customer complaint done through the proper channels is NEVER a reason to keep their money and run.

Even at this point reinstating my account wouldn't fix things.  Part of the reason I was buying gold today was for the Easter deco fiasco, and by their own admission they made an error listing which deco was which reward and so on.  I might have been willing to accept a partial refund on the gold if they had even tried to work with me, but no, instant blocking, just like that.

So I guess add me to the pile of stories from people who have experienced a complete unwillingness on GGS' part to cooperate, and don't let yourself get burned.
