The FASTEST way to get dung?

What is the ABSOLUTE, FASTEST way that I can get dung, without spending dollars? I need them to make a lot of fertilizer out of them.

The only way to get lots of dung is to keep your stables going nonstop. You do this by keeping the cycle of planting and harvesting and producing feed going continuously on your farm.  :)

Like your chickens, your pigs, your cows and other animals you may have. As you are able to get these upgraded you will get more dung!

Grow corn to make chicken feed to feed your chickens.

Grow cabbage to make pig feed to feed your pigs.

Grow wheat to make cow feed to feed your cows.

Keep your animals going and you'll get plenty of poo to keep your orchards going. :)

  • Pigs and chickens are great for dung if you leave the game going all day and keep feeding them.

If you only check in three times a day, cows are better.  And if you upgrade the powerhouse machine to level 6, it will have a 7 hour cooldown that matches the cows, allowing a nice boost to their dung production (+50% if you have enough tools).

If you're a gold buyer, the water tower greatly reduces the amount of fertilizer that the orchards need, and the workshop reduces the amount of dung the silo needs.

And you can build a silo on the gourmet farm.  This silo uses a bit less dung to produce fertilizer.  However, it's much slower, gives only a tiny fraction of the experience, and doesn't give any event drops.  I found it useful during a certain period when I was starting, then I got rid of it.

  • this has got to be the most patient and helpful community around. props to all of you

I think what shed/sty/coop to build depends on your gameplay. If you're at the computer all day, then you might want to build more chicken coops. If you can only log in a few times at different times of the day, then cow sheds might be better. I don't really recommend pigs because you can't make any products out of them.

Eventually you will have more dung than you need but it is common withr everyone for it to be one of the biggest challenges on new farms.
Don't use cherry orchard unless absolutely needed.
Keep all livestock going and as September said it depends on your style of game play.  If you only log in a couple of times a day then cows are your friend.  If you are logged in all day Chickens are your friend.
Buy corn or cabbage if needed to keep mill going.
Upgrade to max chickens, cows, and pigs and keep them going at all times.

I'll try chickens for now. I already fed them like 1000 times in my entire lifetime and I have gotten almost a thousand dung from, you got it, CHICKENS. If nothing is going on anymore with the dung I will try a different strategy

well certainly things have changed now with the new speedy cow and pig feed. you might want to consider building more cowsheds too. 7.5min for 6 dung (lv 1 cow), v 13min for 10 dung (lv 1 chicken)
  • You have to find a balance between poo production and fertilizer need. I try to keep it pretty much zero-sum to maximize production of everything. If your poo is piling up then you need less animals and more orchards. If your farm is constipated, you need less orchards and more animals. And you also must factor in your daily time investment as some commented above. It takes time not only to develop your farm to the point where you can feel out your needs but also to figure out exactly how much time you will want to be in the habit of tending your farm daily.

For me 11 cows, 14 chickens and 2 pigs make exactly enough poo to manage 8 apples and 3 cherries visiting my farm 4 or 5 times a day. All maxed out with a few low to mid level books and level 3 workshop and tower. I have no deco at all on my main farm so I get a lot of production at a high cost, though I still make a few million a day on my main farm. It takes a lot of time, patience and trial & error to develop to this point, however...

Oh I see it myself. I think on this:
    1. I plant rutabarga
    2. I produce speedy cow feed
    3. I put them to cows
