Browser Problems

Since we had the problems with Chrome and Big Farm, the cursor chasing us around the farm, I have used the Maxthon browser. At first Maxthon beat Chrome with speed etc but lately when I log out of Big Farm and want to log back in the WHOLE browser freezes, I have to go into task manager and stop Maxthon. I do not visit many other sites at the same time and my history, cache etc is cleared often, I run Ccleaner - - Anti-spyware regularly. Anybody else had this problem.  I blame GGS for everything that goes wrong, even when I burn my toast or forget my latte in the microwave, however I never have this freezing problem with other sites, ok not all of them require me to log out/in etc. I have often logged out of E bay them remembered something and logged back in straight away , no problems. I do not require players to comment that they use X, Y, or Z browser and no problems, this is Maxthon, which until recently ran Big Farm great.
While here, has the issues with Chrome been sorted ? it is months since the Tech probs with Flash was put up, then the bit blaming it on chrome was removed, but we have heard nothing since ! It does seem like a lot say, GGS are not really interested in addressing any problems as long as there is some way to play the game/buy gold. Another thing I have noticed is the "cursor chasing the hand" and the " white out of fields/buildings" is almost the same kind of issue.
Anyway any good advice with regards the Maxthon problem would be appreciated, it is not Big farm that freezes, but the browser while trying to log into Big Farm.

  • When I use the Chromium browser, I find after exiting Big Farm that it's best to close the browser and reopen before restarting Big Farm.  Opening a new tab and closing the old one wasn't good enough. I blame the browser, which I think should be able to clean up any mess that Big Farm and Flash leave, and I suspect Flash does leave a mess.

With Firefox, it seems to be enough to load the blank page into the tab. Then I can restart Big Farm in that tab.

The only time I had the type of really bad performance issues that some other people have is when I ran my uk farm and us farm in two different tabs of Firefox at the same time. However, if I run the us farm in Firefox and the uk farm in Chromium, then the performance is OK. Note that I have a 64bit OS and 8GB of memory.

I have had to disable C-Cleaner as it was making my computer freeze and I had to do a total switch-off as it would not shut down in the normal way.  Since then (fingers, toes and eyes crossed lol) I have not had any programme freeze.  I cannot use Chrome and my computer will not tolerate Firefox at all.
  • Cheers, why is it always Big Farm that problems arise ? Because of the Chrome  " problems" I have used Maxthon browser without any problems, it ran better than Chrome. Lately I have had the problems described above and today I have noticed that I am now getting the cursor chasing the hand around my farm, not as bad as it was with Chrome. I know that GGS will blame everything on anybody else that they can and unfortunately the two "programs" that are causing the problems are the two needed to play, namely Big Farm itself and Flash player, I am not sure at this moment, but I think Maxthon uses a different version of Flash player to Chrome. Some change to Big Farm and/or Flash player has caused this. Just now when Big farm caused the browser to freeze I checked my computers usage, virtually zero.. so it is not the computer that freezes, just the browser. I know GGS will not be bothered, they only issued the notice about Flash player after i posted details, and then they issued the wrong information about flash player ( at that time EVERY computer with flash player installed was at risk of attack, which is why Firefox temp blocked its use) It is getting too much now, the so called bugs, problems that are not fixed, these issues ( caused by Big Farm or not) a good game ruined, i have played big farm 24/7 some times, which could be why i notice the problems. As stated in above post, I could go onto e bay, youtube etc and log in/out for hours and not once will Maxthon freeze, yet log onto big farm and problems ....
  • I usually run FF with no problems, but have noticed over the last few weeks a lot of freezing up, sometimes to the point where I have to pull the plug on the puter cos its completely jammed up everything. The thing is, even though I usually do have BF running, I have had the browser freeze up even when there is no BF. I have been trying to pin down what is causing it & my 2 main suspects at the moment are Skype or Gmail. I get an unresponsive script on gmail & unresponsive program on Skype & then it all goes Pete Tong. Its not easy to see what order the fails happen in, so having a bit of chicken & egg in my troubleshooting, though I am fairly sure its not BF, cos sometimes, if it does manage to unfreeze itself, BF does not even need reloading. Chrome seems to be more reliable than FF now, which is weird, but Chrome is sooooooo slow I lose the will to live waiting for pages to load.

Have you tried Opera?..... Heard good things about that one, but I haven`t given it a go yet.

@RunsWivScissors - that is exactly what happens to me.  I think C-Cleaner was the culprit in my case, as I have not had the computer completely lock up since I removed it, but the problem seems to be something else as I am finding most things very slow at present.  Like you I was not always in BF when the computer froze, so I also don't think the problem is with BF alone.  I am slowly going through all programs I have on my computer, removing them and testing to see how computer runs then reinstalling them.  I think that the next thing I will try is removing Chrome, as my girls have Chrome on their laptops and it is always freezing on them.  They thought Windows10 could have been causing it, but I don't have Windows10 (I am still using Windows7 !) so I doubt that is the cause. I have been told that Opera is very good so might give that a try, will let you know how I get on with it.
