  • You have to stay on the island farm. If you leave, you have to start again, finding the presents.

I hope I'm wrong but I see new prices for land expansions :disappointed:

    1 plot 10 000 50
    2 plot 66 000 390
    3 plot 82 000 770
    4 plot 200 000 1200
    5 plot 360 000 1600
    6 plot 610 000 2100

I was wondering about that myself. :) Looks like quite some hype on land market. :) Wonder what a low level player "lucky" enough to start this "festivity" as his first temp farm can do there. And still they come with no warning for L30 player. I think these farms, when unlocked for a player for the first time (and then 2nd and 3rd and 4th etc time, until the player is at least level 70, but preferably level 100), should come with a huge yellow triangle with big exclamation mark and words in bold "DANGER! KEEP OUT!" to keep at least some unsuspecting farmers from trouble. B) Whoever fell for this trap now, it's even nastier then usual. :)

I guess GGS does not have a response to my initial question about the reward for this event.  It is worthless by my calculation.
  • Can anyone explain what is going on with the disappearing gift boxes on the island? They just appear and then disappear when you hover over or click on them! What's up with that?
They are an easter egg. You hover over 20 of them or so, and you get a dancing polar bear to look at for a bit.

We will make the booster books work again for all previously existing goods (e.g. herring & feed) with next update. For all festively themed products, however, the bonuses unfortunately won't apply, as stated before.
This would not be satisfactory.  It must work for all items or I will feel cheated by GGS.  Because, then every temp farm, they could simply could change the type of tree from "tree" to "fir tree" etc.  It must work for all items or I will feel cheated by GGS.  I bought these items in good faith and planned for this event for a long time.  GGS needs to do what they promised.

These new prices for land on the Viking Farm are ridiculous.  It already took me an average of just over 225 million farm dollars to complete the Viking Farm, but with these new land prices, I cannot transfer dollars fast enough in the bank.

    @CM Nafaru

    So, to summarise:

    • Event farms are well known to be a money pit for well developed farmers. Already quite difficult/expensive for most anyone under L100.
    • Festive farm land is more expensive by factor roughly fluctuating around 200 (200 times more expensive !!!) (taking some calculations from above table)
    • Books are not working = another increase in difficulty / expenses. (I'm skipping the moral/leagal issue connected with that, which is probably even more important and deserves separate treatment)
The difficulty of yet another event was scaled up again, and not just a little.
Looking at original make-up of Santa, it was the biggest money pit so far.

What's the idea behind all that? Why does mastermind of this project seem to only (mostly) be operating in extremes? Is the game primarily targeting game fanatics and trying to drive casual players away? I could, of course, easily jump into what seems obvious conclusion, that it is all no more then too obvious grab for money. But still, appart from that, is there any other idea, or is all developement really only motivated by direct push to elicit more money from players?

Every time I try to be more positive about this game I hit something that screams at me: NO! This is a bad business! Is there any other way to look at things than assuming that GGS is presumably using every oportunity to push, steal and cheat (now including the books issue)? Have I overlooked anything important?

If possible, I'd like to get a reasoneable and believable comment from one of the customer managers.
  • With the onerous hike in prices, loss of runestones for harvesting, books not working, and anything else I might have missed....

I think it is only Fair that you release the full table of tasks to complete this event so folks can at least plan ahead to help them salvage as much as possible from their efforts.

I don't play event farms much, just on my test account. Haven't even noticed that runstones are missing from harvest. Do you know if other prices appart from land expansions have been hacked up?

Appart from the obvious minuses there is one positive aspect (in general) I'm aware off: rewards from daily tasks, which bring both event farm dollars and runestones basically for no extra work.

Due to my low exposure to event farms I can only see rough contoures. Would be nice to have a more detailed analysis from regular player. :)

Why does GGS seem to care more about the appearance of things than making things work properly?  The Festive Farm looks nice, and we have a dancing bear.  But, as has been pointed out repeatedly in this thread, things are more expensive there, the books that we were told would apply to all northern farms are not working, and up till a few days ago people were even reporting being charged double for all the gold pushing/purchasing they did.

I don't give a fig for a dancing bear.  I am losing production every time I harvest anything that I have books for.  It has been a whole week that the books are not working, and highly unlikely that anything will be changed before next week.  GGS needs to get its act together.  Stop concentrating on unimportant cosmetic aspects of the game and focus on providing a game that isn't so full of bugs that most players now call it Bug Farm.  Even minor testing of this Festive Farm before it was introduced would have revealed that the books are not working.  Why should players have to suffer with everything new GGS introduces just because the company can't be bothered to test things?  Other online games have test servers, where problems with new features can be identified and fixed before the update goes live on all servers.  Why does GGS not care enough about its players to implement proper testing procedures?

... and why am I wasting my time asking these questions when the chances of getting a useful answer are pretty much nil.

I, too, am concerned about not getting runestones for production/harvesting etc... I'm working my little tail off in order to get enough of them to buy an adequate quantity of seeds for the greenhouse, so I can keep the greedy boat captain happy... but, like many others, I feel I'm getting nowhere!

I think many of us would appreciate an answer to this one, and an assurance that it will be fixed, together with compensation of all the runestones that we should have earned up to this point!  Thanks.

    Steffi-

New Land Price - Major Problem

I did not want to comment on this until I saw it for myself.  This is a must-fix problem.  In the prior versions of the temp island (tropical or viking/NL), the final 25th square of land cost 14 Million.  Now the 21st square is 14 million.  There are four squares above that.  The 22nd is 17 million.  That puts an additional cost of over 70 million on the temp farm.  That is not acceptable.  I am ranked 30th and have reached level 204.  I have completed the island/viking many times.  There is absolutely no conceivable reason why I should wonder whether or not I can finish.  However, that is the exact problem today.  I don't know if I can finish.  I plan for each temp island carefully and I know exactly where I must be on Day 1 to know that I can make it.  I was in great shape.  This additional cost is absurd.  If at level 204, and if after completing the temp farms 7 times, I am wondering whether or not I can make it, then how does a medium level farm even stand a chance.  A level 70 farm has no meaningful shot, without a massive gold purchase.  Maybe you mean for the temp farms to be gold only.  Is that the case?

This needs to be fixed immediately.

I have worked very hard to get where I am, and I like the game.  I have even bought some gold from time to time.  BUT, if you are going to make it where the temp farms are no longer available for a reasonable number of farm dollars, people are going to consider leaving the game.  However, it would not really be them leaving.  It is really like you are throwing them out.
  • This is the first themed farm where we have not received Runes when collecting from fields, production facilities, and manufacturing buildings. for some reason this Island farm does not give any runes when collecting, all other themed farms do, whether it be vouchers on candy farm, shells on tropical island, and runes on the usual Viking island, we always earned those when collecting; eg 1x rune for flax,

I do not know if anybody noticed, but first hard work revard deco (presents) is more valuable than the second one (Christmas tree). A bug or intentional?

Yes ( Too many uncomfortable surprises there. Plots of land, books and New Year Tree only for 5mlns, not fun.

Usually you get the 4x4 then the 4x3, then 3x3 - you're right the tree should be before the gifts.... Silly Santa hehe :o

Often not receiving the runestones for finishing tasks or harvests, and had to upgrade my spruce grove to lvl 3 twice, because the first time it just stayed level 2..... so, on the Dutch server NL1 this problem exists too.

Weird things going on here .....

    Hey everyone,

you have noticed some issues, surprises and general changes with this event farm already. Let's answer some questions, shall we?

First of all about the books: While it is true that bonuses of these books applied to all winter farms in the past, this was due to their same product pool. Now with the Festive Farm, products have changed slightly and only those bonuses of items that remained unchanged (e.g. fish) should still apply.

As for the expansion prices, yes they are different with this version of the event.

There will be no Wheel of Fortune for the Festive Farm, however, Omar will present his festive deals.

Unfortunately there are also some already known bugs with this event, one of them being the bank not showing blue zZz as soon as the cooldown expired. We're already working on those.

As I can see, you have also already found the Festive Farm's little easter egg. Please consider using spoiler tags for those still willing to discover it themselves. Thanks! :)

We hope you have a wonderful time on our Festive Farm and are getting right in the festive spirit for all of the upcoming surprises.

    Cheers,
    Steffi

I don't accept this explanation.  Your explanation makes no sense.  It could only make sense if two things are true: 1) That the festive farm is a new, permanently rotating temp farm and 2) that the Viking farm is coming back into rotation next month.  But is is not coming next month, right?  You have no plans of that.  You sold me Viking books half way through the last Viking farm.  No you have changed a couple of things and expect me to pretend along with you that it was a meaningful change.  i cannot pretend that that is true.  And I have run a software company.  I know that this is not a hard change to make, or you would not be doing any of it.  It would not have been much harder to make them all work.  And you are not even making more money.  I was planning to buy more books.  For example, I was planning to buy more tree books, but now they are "fir" trees and you say it won't work, so I won't need to buy them.  You are losing money this way.  This blows my mind.  It does not appear to be monetarily clever in any way, and in the process you have had to damage your credibility in a significant way.  I have said before that there are lines that must no be crossed.  This remains one of those.  It will permanently change how I view GGS.  I feel like that I have to worry more about whether or not you will make ethical decisions or not.  This is unacceptable in every way.

I assume GGS knows that the Festive peach and Almond have no greater yield.  This is an obvious mistake.

  • Please not the Viking again.  It will soon be the evil winter in the Chicago area.

I would like to go to the tropics on vacation next :)

Hi everyone this is my 1st ever post to the forum but I do enjoy reading majority of the post as they are very interesting & quite often very informative.

Just a question what/where are the festive peach & almond orchards found & what are the gifts & how do you get them from the festive Viking farm. I am doing the temp farm & can't see orchards in build list or have ever seen orchards in any other temp farms. I have found small gift boxes & saw the polar bear dance but it took me nearly half hour to do so, haven't seen any gift boxes since. Thank you.
  • @carjola (AU1)  Welcome to the forums!!  :)

Each temporary farm has a themed building as the prize for the top 5 ranked players in the event & another one for anyone that collects 90 million of whatever is being collected on that farm (in this case Runestones). The 2 festive orchards are those top prizes on the Festive farm. On the Viking farm it is ducks & donkeys, the Tropical farm is cows & chickens, (I think) & I have totally forgotten what the ones on the Candy farm & Northern lights farm are... Someone will remember I am sure :)

Don`t worry about the vanishing gift boxes, they are just a bit of fun (an easter egg). On the Candy farm you drop apples into a lake to see a Nessie monster pop up lol
