Thats a bit of a broad question, can you be a bit more specific about what you are having difficuly with?

In general, if you follow the tasks on your task bar (left side of screen) they will guide you through the basics of each element of the game. You don`t have to complete them all & there is no time limit on them, but they do point you in the right direction.

I wouldn't worry about using gold. I've never used any, except once, and I've got to level 48 quite easily.

If you've recognised that the game is weird, you've already understood the most important thing about it. Congratulations. Now the rest is easy. Just sit in front of the computer and click, click, click ......... with your mouse.
