I thought only CM's or Mods can start a contest, how can you promise prizes? Do you plan to buy lots of gifts and distribute them amongst the farms of the contestants after having judged their written work by yourself.. thus giving karma points and also why you restrict the contest to the GB1 server? That is quite a task you have assigned yourself to, good luck!

The best part about the Halloween contest was that it was not server restricted, too many talents spread across the globe ;) I think I will wait for a mod to start a similar (and global) version of this (in the hopes for some gold prizes or nifty decs  >:) )
  • same i was also thinking,i heard tht mods or cm`s only have the power for this

The starter of this thread can do this is she wants to do this. She can buy gifts at the twins and give this to the players who won (giving you sparkles and karma points), it is still a gift and no need for a moderator or community manager to do this.

It is limited to the GB server because she has an account on there and thus only can gift players on that server the points.
  • ohhh
and you are a mod right?

Thank you for the clarification, Pinjo. I was wondering about this. Even though I'm ineligible for any prize, I'll write a winter poem just because I enjoy writing. :)

What is not clear to me @21WormSparkle (GB1) is:

    - who is going to judge these poems? It can't be you as organizor, so it probably should be us, all the other players who read this thread?
    - where can we send our votes and how can we be sure that things will be done fair? I guess you should appoint another player (not a friend) to collect the votes....

I agree with all the above, there's still plenty to discuss and decide.
But right now im actually in the mood to write, so here we go, my winter poem/story, hope you enjoy!

    Ice on the river
my footstep is making it quiver.
    Why not go across
    adventure is never a loss.
Lucifer you wait at the side
    your safety is what's right.

    Stepping toward the middle
    Im happy as a fiddle.
The ice breaks with a loud crack
im shouting loudly what the f***
    Punishment is swift and cruel
    I am such a fool.
    The current pulls me along
the distorted view is so wrong.

    Trapped under ice,
    why pay such a price?
    Struggling and hitting,
    who was i kidding,
    when will it break,
the cold is making me shake.

    Snowflakes are falling
    voices are calling
    i hear Lucifer yelp
why is there noone to help
    He's running along the shore
    my struggles demand an encore.

    No do not come
    the icesheet will come undone
    you must leave me here
    you have nothing to fear

    My limbs are going numb
    what have I done
who will take care of you
i dont know what to do.

    Paws on the ice
    the surface cracks thrice.
    i scream only bubbles
    and renew my struggles

    Another crack,
    my vision goes black
    Teeth in my neck
    im such a wreck

    Hands pull us out
    im trying to shout
    Blind and panic stricken
until i feel a tongue licking.
    Thanking teary eyed
    Lucifer shaking by my side.

He stands, a ghostly spectre, a cross in his right hand

A shimmering. shiny vision, banishing from the land

A ragged, tattered beggar, its piteous head held down

And dressed in rags of red and gold, of orange and of brown.

The shining ghost is Winter, banishing from the land

The leaf-clad beggar, Autumn, and spreading with his hand

A shining frosty carpet to cover leaves of gold

And change so drastically to white the colours once so bold.

Cheers Jiesta   By the way I just realized, i ought to clarify Lucifer is a dog. Most of you already know, or may have guessed since I mentioned paws. Just wanted to be clear, since some lines could otherwise be.. misinterpreted.

Yep - knew immediately you were talking about a dog  :D
  • Are you still running this competition?

This is a poem I wrote back in 2013 for my friends on the forum. Hope you like it. :)

On Christmas Eve, when you're with those you love,
my gift to you all is the true story of......

       MY BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!

When I was a boy, I lived on a farm,
I woke to a rooster, and not an alarm.
I had plenty of chores to do every day,
that had to be done before I could play.
So I worked hard, and I sweat a lot,
while I shoveled you know what.
I fed the chickens, I fed the cows,
I fed the horses, I fed the sows.
But the horses were what I loved the best,
for they were smarter than all the rest.
But they were too big (I was only half grown),
so I dreamed of a PONY of my very own!
But in those days, dreams just weren't enough,
cause ponies cost money, and times were real tough.
But I kept on hoping there might be some way,
that Santa could maybe find room in his sleigh.
Now, Christmas on a farm is the best time of year,
with our family together and full of good cheer.
Cheerful for all, that is except me,
for I saw no pony under the tree.
Oh, how I trembled, and how my hands shook,
as I opened my present: a horse picture book!
So if not today, then probably never,
this just might be my worst Christmas ever!
And though I was big for a boy of ten years,
it was all I could do to hold back my tears.
And all of the while that I was crying inside,
my Mom wore a smile she was trying to hide.
Then Dad said,"What's that? Hey Johnny, come look!",
So I jumped to my feet and threw down my book.
Then I ran to the window, and followed his gaze,
and saw a sight I'll remember for the rest of my days.
For there all alone, standing out in the snow,
was a little red pony, wearing a BIG RED BOW! Happy smileys

      TODAY............

Now my folks are long passed, but I'll love 'em forever,
for they gave me my best Chrstmas ever!

    2nd-5th place is Michiru

  • What about @bdreish (GB1) ??
You only had 3 entries, how did she not win anything?

  • Jiesta (NL1)Jiesta (NL1) Posts: 6,557
Yep, totally agree with Scissors: bdreish should be among the winners too (at least as 3rd place).

I agree as well, you should also be in the 2-5 category @bdreish (GB1) , if not first even, since our farmerjohn isnt on the GB1 server :p .
In case it's any consolation @bdreish (GB1) , none of the promised karma gift prizes have been given out by the contestmaker, nor have we heard directly from her, so unfortunately this contest is a bit of a disappointment.
Remind me to stick to the official ones'

  • bdreish (GB1)bdreish (GB1) GB1 Posts: 1,341
Thanks @Michiru :)   Yes, I think like you that I will stick to the ones posted on the forum by the CM's.  Oh well, you deserved your winnings, even if they didn't arrive.
  • Jiesta (NL1)Jiesta (NL1) Posts: 6,557
Agreed, stick to the official contests!  ;)

Nevertheless I would like to congratulate all 3 of you with your wonderful poems - I loved them all 3! :+1: :+1:

Thanks, Jiesta! Congrats to all winners! Does that mean I have to build a farm on the GB1 server to collect my prize? :D  Oh well, I'm still a happy farmer! :)
