Horse ranch Laugh

I have to laugh at the horse ranch, I know as the season progressives you could end up with stronger horses challenging you. I have noticed whenever I almost get to the next level, i suddenly start losing a lot of challenges. I just did my races and won a few but i am 25 points short of platinum i looked at the notice board and today i have lost 5 /5 challenges therefore losing 20 points, i'll probably lose another 5 challenges before my fuel has built up. Bikeboy for the past 3 seasons has got to within 30 points of platinum level, once with 7 days to go, never once has he got into platinum. He bought fuel, which is the idea... yet he still lost twice against  donkeys with 3 legs with Elvis riding them and pulling a world war 2 tank behind them ( think they were lvl 4 and 6 ).
Just a thought (scissors) has anybody ever counted up how many wins/loses in the challenges against them.
Keep on farming

I walk in your horseshoes, yorky.  I get to the bottom rung of platinum and start losing nearly every challenge, no matter what the level, and lose nearly every challenge against me, just to keep my down in gold level.  I'll be lucky to get back to the bottom of platinum before this round finishes.

My horse is sitting out the next round.

Yep, each horse will find its approximate level over the course of a season... give or take player activity.  Its clearly designed that way, with a little (very little) advantage given for extra challenges (which can be bought with cash, and more for gold).  Despite the incredibly, and I believe inaccurately, random seeming nature of challenge results, you pretty much end up where you belong.  That is, leaving aside this messed up season.  Where Diamond level horses had to start in Bronze 1, and everyone had 1200 extra fuel, and a greatly shortened (well longer for those unaffected) season.

Wow, I was going to complain about my horse and was thinking of glue factory or dog food, but I will hang onto her now.  Made it to platinum.  Don't know if it is a mirage, but she seems to do better IF I have another horse training, even at minimum?  Also, if you start losing ones you think you should have had a shot at, go away for a while.  Seems also to help, but not always, lol.

Edited to add:  I will have the picture of Elvis on a 3 legged mule pulling a tank stuck in my head for Days~!

We have to laugh or I would run out of  windows to throw my computer out off. I forget my horse level, about level 42, ive lost against level 10s yet won against a level 81, i bet the level 81 was pee'd off
Oh while we are here... how often can another player challenge you. I have had a few where the same player has challenged my nag twice in the same day.
Another edit ! phew Duffy I thought it was just Bikey that had that bad luck, I really wish we could place real money bets on the outcome, Bikeboys horse will run its little legs off and still not get that platinum.

As many times as they come up in the window.  I've challenged the same person 4 times in one day once.  Possibly more.  I just happened to remember that one.

And one of my level 100 horses through the 'seasons' has lost to a lvl 2 horse.  That was the funniest.  But as I said above, a given race doesn't really mean a lot in the grand scheme of a normal season.  Individual races are just something to cheer (in an upset) or moan (in an unlikely loss) over.

  • I have long been of the opinion that the level/effects/quality of your horse, determines your finishing position, assuming you compete on a regular basis. So if you are destined to finish in gold 1, that is where you will finish. You may get to platinum 5 and get a reward, but you will inevitably soon incur enough losses to bump you back where you belong.

I have seen posts from people that have tested this theory, by doing such things as starting the season late, buying or not buying boosters etc & it makes no difference, you still get to the same place. I find if I lose more challenges against me, I tend to win more of my own challenges & vice versa, regardless of the opponent, if I am destined for a loss I could challenge a 100 horse or that donkey that Yorky encountered & I would still lose.

Of course this is just my own theory & while I have seen many examples that appear to confirm it, I am yet to see any that totally refute it. I don`t even really object to it, as the end results (apart from this season) in general appear to be fair. It just means that improving your horse is the only way to get into that next league & the racing is just to pass the time while you do that. :)
  • I wish there was a way to demo the entire horse ranch. I have finished in Platinum 1 or 2 every competition. I made it to diamond once, but was quickly booted back down. The other day, we had a transformer blow and were in a blackout for about 10 hours. When I could get back on, I had been challenged 10 times (5 at or below my level). I lost 9 of those 10 challenges, a 36 point decrease. It was even worse when we came back from the shortened season. I was routinely losing to horses 30,40, 50 ranks below. In one case I lost to someone 71 lvls below me, my lvl 85 lost to their lvl 14. I kept records for those first few days, I'll include them below. I only kept track of those at least 16 lvls lower than me.

    Beat my lvl 85 horse

Season abruptly ended when I was in gold 2. Started a new season 9/12/15. I started in Bronze 3 because of only finishing in Gold 2 instead of in platinum league.

Just a point... Once you make Diamond... you never leave.  You may have made the top of platinum 1, and not gotten the 50 wins in Platinum 1 to actually make diamond?

  • Thanks Yakoska. I may be wrong, but I was pretty sure that I had made it to diamond during the first competition. Of course being north of the half century mark does wreak havoc with the ol' noggin, lol. It must have been Plat 1 and trying hard to get to diamond, I guess. Have a great day!

I love it that we have all encountered the same things, i wonder how we get to be destined to be in Diamond, slip a mars bar into Lattens hand maybe, ive got some out of date ones laying around, dust the bird feathers of em, they'll be ok. Poor Bikeboy was trying like made just to get those last few points.. he got them.. only to find out he had lost more challenges lol, mind you i think his nag is only about lvl 30

Just noticed.. I have been challenged 6 times since 2pm and lost all 6.. exactly as i said would happen. My horse is going backwards...
  •  My horse is going backwards...
Hmmm .... That could explain why its losing hehe :p

    That aint Elvis !

23 points needed for Platinum, will i get there
  • 17 points off after just winning a few races, Just looked at the message board, in last 4 hrs i have been challenged 9 times and lost all 9 . I get challenged twice an hour yet I only gain 10 fuel per hr. 9 x 4 pts lost  I would have platinum easy now
  • When you get horses to challenge that are the same level as yours, are they in gold in platinum? If you challenge one & beat it, check the result before you close it, to see if you have the same number of effects & if your numbers are close to theirs, especially if they are in platinum. That way you should be able to see if you are keep up with your peers.
  • I am one of those people who seem to start losing the very instant I get to platinum... I'm currently wavering between 870-885 and something tells me I will probably not make platinum again.  Strange how, the very instant I reach platinum that's where I seem to stall and yet my horse was level 30 when I hit this phase before and now my horse is level 40 and WOW... ain't that interesting that the EXACT same thing is happening?

It's bull since we all know horses are getting stronger as people evolve their horses so my horse should be going down and probably never close to platinum as it stalls at 40 for a super long time because I just can't churn out those horseshoes for breeding.

My take on this is quite simple... platinum means a 4k gold reward certificate and that's where things takes a turn for the bad... I wonder what prefers me not to have that 4k reward... I wonder!

How can I keep up with Elvis on his 3 legged donkey.  by the way I am now 1 point, yes 1 point from getting platinum, will I get there ! stay tuned

Wow thats a tricky one.... Only 18 hours left, if you go in now u will likely be bounced back out again, might be an idea to save fuel & take a run at it just before the event ends, so there is no time to knock you back out... Tough call...good luck :)

I would stay 1 pt from platinum until the end... save up your fuel... and race as much as possible just before the end.  Good luck.

  • yeah Yorkypoo , i heard that your horse racing season has broken and you got some wins, Elvis and that 3 legged donkey of his is still whipping my ****
  • While my horse, around lvl 70, had won several races against horses of lvl 88, I have encountered a STRANGE platinum-league horse of level 26, and lost 3 times. I had lost to it just now.
I wonder if some of these horses have special qualities that will win despite the odds (13% vs 87%)?

Its unlikely that someone would have got into platinum with a level 26 horse, what is most likely to have happened is that their main horse has not been shown for the event, either because the system messed up and picked the wrong horse or the player has accidentally set the wrong one in their preferences.  I have seen some under level 10 & yes, even lost against them lol No idea how they win, unless it is really their main horse racing in disguise, but then again its impossible to explain how about 80% of the results happen hehe

And exactly what I expected happened, I lost by 5 points platinum.  Strangely, starting last night, all I had to compete against where people 10+ level above me and none or very few lower level and they were lower level by only 3 levels.

This thing feels rig as always and it didn't surprise me at all I finished with 870 points.  That 4k gold for plat is probably why the system is in place so many people will have constant loses when they need points.

Oh! And let me be very crystal clear here.  I hit platinum 4 days ago, the very instant I hit it, I stagnate between gold and platinum NEVER able to go over 885, ever.  Every time I gained some I would go right back to gold, 870 and I would fight again and climb a bit and go right back down.

Funny how I progressed through them all and... all of a sudden... I cannot progress at all through platinum and yeah losing means losing more points but still, the logic would dictate I should progress a bit.  Nope!

I finished in Platinum 5, the same place I have finished in the last 3 championships.  I will continue to finish there, I expect, until I can get a better horse.

Having said that, I'm not competing again until I do get a better horse, and as I could not care less about the whole horse ranch / challenge aspect of this game, it will probably be quite a long time.
  • Not only did I get to platinum level, I stayed there. I stopped being challenged after I got to Plat. I did like the horse challenge but its got so many GGS's strange rules/systems, they'll come up with some strange excuse why a level 40 can get to challenge a level 81. Oh and then the breeding, I must have bred 80 pairs of nags by now and ONLY at the start did I get 2 foals with new breeding levels (common) my uncommons I had to buy, which is the whole idea, but to me that is not playing fair. I would rather use my "skill" to train and bred horses to get better ones than to simply buy one

A heads-up about the suspiciously low level horses in the higher brackets: people may have put them there on purpose in order to drop back down. I do this because getting to plat 5 is relatively easy with a medium range lvl 50-ish horse, and the reward is like 750k or something. Then I set a lvl 10 or something as my competition horse, let the challenges roll in and demote me, and put my actual horse back in so that I can stay in gold and get the 300g season end reward. :')
I'm also of the belief that your placement is pre-determined, by the way. For instance, I've faced lvl 50+ horses no matter what I do, even in bronze. It's strange, I have no idea what kind of wonky mmr system they have working behind the scenes, but for sure if you're destined to stay gold it's pretty pointless to force-climb plat before training the horse a lot more first.

I don`t get it, why would you want to drop back to get 300 gold when you would get a gold license worth 2000 gold if you stayed in platinum?  :o
