Not competing in missions but signed up to compete

I've just completed 4 missions with other players but not one of them did anything.  I won but that's not the point.  Both my reps & certificates were down as the others didn't do anything.

It is very frustrating that players sign up to do a mission then harvest nothing.  Could they be penalised for not harvesting anything?  Or a reminder that when signing up to do a mission they should participate or will have cash, reps or certificates removed if they don't participate?

What do others think about this when it happens to you? 

The idea of doing missions is to get certificates so you can upgrade your tractors.  It certainly will take an awfully long time if you are only getting around 20 - 25 certificates each mission.

  • Perhaps if someone asks for a mission and then doesn't participate, there could be a cool-down timer before they could ask for another mission.

  • I personally do missions and then harvest nothing for it. Lets say I get a corn mission but I'm doing a cabbage project. Why would I want to collect corn? It's just a mission after all. Events and projects are way more important. Also, I'll often just press "new mission" to get the 20% extra reputation points from the last mission I did. Then I'll sign off and go do something in real life. There's no reason for anyone to get a "penalty" for being inactive in a mission

    The old version of missions had penalties, all it did was cause most people to never do missions.  GG changed it to a bonus if you start a new mission quickly after one ends.  It is much better incentive for participation.   The penality also crippled those new to the game who didn't understand how they worked when they got a penalty for trying to learn, so many never did missions.  Sorry you are getting inactives in challenges, it happens to us all especially  when the challenge is not running.  Being in a solo mission is much much worse than being in a mission with non harvesting, and is even more frustrating during the challenge.  If none of those people had signed up and you ended up solo I expect the payout would have been the same or worse.

    In the challenge missions are top priority for me, during the off season the project the co-op is running is most important, then market needs.  I for one am hard pressed to do wildflower missions out of challenge more than a couple times a day, unless I need them for the market or barn stock.  In the case of dung or eggs if you get the same draw back to back sometimes there is little to harvest.  Players run out of a particular feed especially during the weekly events that require feed to be made. With the addition of the market it is also more work to keep the barn stocked so crops planted have to be rotated more, I have to plant way more cabbage and wheat during the day than I did before. Sometimes it is simply a matter of planting the wrong crop, I still do it at times.   Yes we all get a bump in the reward if everyone harvests.

    As someone else said real life things happen that cause people not to be able to harvest, a crying baby, phone call, loss of power or internet, computer freeze, loosing track of time and having to leave game.  Punishing people will hurt everyone in the end, this is a game it is suppose to be fun.
